White Fox seems to have a busy schedule for the next year. Guess there's no hope for a sequel to Hataraku Maou-sama for a while.

I haven't seen any of these anime primarily because I taught the same thing as well especially Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu.
However I am more more willing to watch this but should I watch the original before this airs?

following the 23-episode TV anime

It was 26-eps anime. And I find the choice of works for the staff stupid. Why copy ANN here? And you used wrong spelling for character designers name and didn't even mention that he worked on the first season and Tears to Tiara

YES YES YES YES YES YES. The first season was seriously underrated.

I'm seriously glad that they are adapting this.

As soon as I heard that there was a second game being made, I figured that it was only a matter of time until it happened, though I didn't expect it so soon.

I'm looking forward to it though, seeing as I enjoyed the original quite a bit and it's being done by White Fox, who have shown in the past that they are actually willing to give a VN adaptation the budget and time that it deserves to properly shine (ie: Steins;Gate).

I just hope that the characters are different enough to the original not to seem like they are exactly the same: I'm concerned about this as the new male lead sounds like he is exactly the same as Hakurou from the original, if that description is anything to go by. Also, the trailer seems to show him using a fan in combat, much like how Hakurou used one in the original series.

We don't have the MAL entry yet for the character designer yet. Also, can you point to me where you got the correct spelling of the name?

I don't recall the name being spelt as 'Nakada'.

AniDB listed his name as Nakada. For me personally it's a more trusted source than ANN

Talk about a PV that shows pure randomness.

Welp, this is either gonna be awful, or it'll be incredible. This director is far from consistent, but he has at least done good work under White Fox, so there's something to hope for.

Not so sure how this composition writer is gonna do.

The VN has a pretty decent rating on VNDB, though I haven't ever seen it brought up in a discussion and have no idea what to expect.

A sequel!? (not really) That was out of left field!

Finally we get some good fantasy stuff. The first season didn't maximize on its potential, but considering it was adapted from a VN it was pretty good with it's development and world-building. This time around, visuals look great and I'm hoping for fantasy-esque music like in the first.

Director looks alright. PV has gotten me hyped. :DD

Only played the VN for the original Utawarerumono but that was alright at least. No idea about the sequel though since it's not even released yet (VN included)

It's basically a fantasy/adventure tactical RPG with a top-down grid-based strategy-esque gameplay. It's pretty fun, but only worth it for the gameplay really

Did it really do that badly as to not warrant a sequel. I thought it was one of the best comedies of it's season. The cast was great, I really enjoyed it.

I didn't realize it was an alternate version of the original till I fully read the information. An actually it wouldn't have been weird if it was a direct sequel since Haku and Eruru were a couple.

Really excited for this, been wondering for a while now what will White Fox adapt next due to them being so quite recently. Katanagatari director & studio along with a lot of the original game's staff plus it already being confirmed for 25 episodes has me really excited for this. PV and visual look good, just hope it doesn't disappoint like Akame ga Kill.

From the preview it seems like the player/viewer will have a different experience if they know the base story, mainly because it looks like it also shares characters.. So I would suggest watching S1.

I think this may be a semi prequel because of the PV which is pretty exciting, or maybe an alternate universe. Either way, the way the original story went makes both very fit ideas.

Another anime in that universe is welcome, definitely. Loved the characters from the first series, most of them were really likeable, and the fights were very enjoyable too, with nice animation for the time the anime was made. The end was a bit... special, yes, but the universe is what matters if they make another story with it so doesn't care about that end.

Certainly one of the most boring anime ever made.

And a sequel about ten years later also seems, well, pointless.

Why not try something new instead?

This reeks of Last Exile 2 all over again.

Personally, I enjoyed the first series. The cast was all fairly likeable, it had good action and the story kept me interested (I didn't find it had any pacing issues). That's enough for me.

Wondering how this second series will pan out. The initial video just looked ok but I'll wait to pass judgement until the first few episodes.
