 It was announced that the English essay Sushi and Beyond: What the Japanese Know About Cooking by Michael Booth will get a TV anime. The series will air on both NHK General and NHK World in a 20-minute time slot, beginning on April 16th and 12th, respectively.Rareko, who is well-versed in short anime (Gakkatsu!, Medamayaki no Kimi Itsu Tsubusu?), is directing the series. The animation is being handled by Fanworks and a key visual for the series was posted on their blog. The story follows the author and his family on their 100-day trip to Japan, during which they try a variety of Japanese cuisine. Originally published in 2010, the book was translated into Japanese in April 2013 under the title Eikoku Ikka, Nihon wo Taberu (British family, eats Japanese).
