Some of them are just watching/evaluating you as you eat. Not like staring at you, but you notice they are still watching you. Or you get invited to have dinner with you girlfriend's family at their favorite restaurant . You are sitting their eating with a lot of people you do not know and you're trying to impress. Quite likely the father and some other relatives are monitoring you eating trying to evalutate you to see if you are good enough man ., |

| I tend to eat very fast so I get pretty self conscious sometimes if Im around people I know. But if I buy something that tastes amazing Im not going to hold back no matter who it is. On a slightly off topic note, it really bothers me when I'm slurping my ramen, udon, or pho and someone gets all pissy because Im eating "sloppy"... Just because I live in America doesn't mean I don't get to eat my soup the way it was meant to be eaten. |

| it doesn't bother me , and even if the food is messy and has sauce i keep a lot of tissue nearby so the moment i get messy i rub it all off and pretend like nothing happened ! |

| I don't think it's something other people think about too much. If you're in a hurry and need to grab something from a food truck, then you do so and eat it on the way walking back to where you need to go. |
| It depends on the food and where i am eating. For instance when i am in a restaurant i don't what type of food i get since it won't get messy. But when i am out on a bench in the part then i don't want food that creates a mess when eating it and that doesn't make your hands dirty. It can be really annoying when something drops on your clothing and leaves a stain or when your face is covered in sauce. I don't like it when that happens in public. |
| Why should i not be comfortable with ? If I do not eat it inside of a shop or open air bath there is no problem with it. If you are hungry you will food, it is not that special and i do not think it would be embarassing at all. |

Clearly I wasn't uncomfortable with eating food inside school through elementary to high school, so the answer to your question would be no. |
| when i was about 14 i had braces and couldn't eat food in front of other people for embarrassment. I was also depressed and insecure, and i thought that if someone at school saw me eating they'd think i was a fat pig. I was tall and slim but just paranoid. I got over that years ago though now I'm fine eating in front of people. If someone looks at me when I'm eating now I just open my mouth and show them the contents, and it shuts them up |
