| Hopefully the special will be the same quality as the rest of the season - unlike the Hihamukage special. Well, it actually makes a lot of sense, annoying as it is. The split-cour grants the production teams more time to ensure the end result is the best it can be - as evidenced with Mushishi. They were already falling behind with only one-cour, hence this special. As painful as the wait is, I'm glad they've split it like this. After watching a lot of interviews with Mushishi's director Nagahama, as well as tours of the production studios during the making of the first Mushishi, the team has to push themselves to the limits more than with any other anime. The amount of work that goes into drawing and animating a show like this far exceeds that of most anime. They are under-budgeted, so they need more time to make up for it. Additionally, sales from the first cour help with the second cour I believe. |
