I learn towards fetish. People seem to have AMAZINGLY specific requests that defy normal requests. Seriously, It seems like some are begging for a particular type of anime that is so specific that it transcends normal requests and does it even matter? i just think its odd |
| Because people like different things. Everyone got into or deterred from anime for certain reasons. Some things appeal more to certain individuals than others. The great part about anime is that there's something for almost everyone. |

| Personally, when I have strange recs, it's usually because i watched an anime i really liked but it was lacking something that I think would have made it 10x better or it had something that i felt like would have made it 10x better if it didn't have. So i make recs hoping i can find almost the same thing +- a few things. Also, there's so many animes out there, I figure I can be pickier and still probably find what I want. Basically, why settle with an anime that doesn't fit what I really want to see when there's probably something out there with exactly what I want. |

| I think you or someone else made a thread about this exact thing. I don't see it as odd, there are situations you see in anime that hit you just right. And also sometimes while watching them you think if one thing was just a little different then it would be the best. It's all about recapturing a feeling. I still love those moments when the main character is underestimated and then beats the person easily, never get tired of them and I would have asked for them had I have used this site when I first got into anime. And if it's genres or other things like that, you don't need to ask a community. There are tags and advanced searches for that. |

| I think people who are really specific when it comes to what types of characters or relationships they want to see in an anime could have fetishes. This op definitely has the same fetish as me (but not the same examples he mentioned). |
