I enjoy Yuri more than I do other things

More relatable than straight romance, but being gay would make that rather a given

As a guy I really like yuri, but when I see yaoi pics I think it's weird and I don't really like it. Is it the same with girls? Do you enjoy yaoi but dislike yuri?

Before I was bisexual, I did not mind seeing yuri. Was almost indifferent to it, the same way I was indifferent to yaoi. Having never tried either, I was in no position to judge or form an opinion at that time.

What about the hermaphrodite people ? which one are they?

MAL has no hermaphrodite option so pick one and deal with it.

I believe the hermaphrodite option for MAL is simply 'Not specified'.

Speaking as a male, I wouldn't touch anything yaoi related with a ten-foot pole. Yuri? I'm mostly indifferent towards that sort of stuff.

I dislike Yuri and Yaoi both (note; Yuri and Yaoi are generally considered the hentai versions of Shoujo/Shounen Ai).

I like Shoujo Ai and Shounen Ai however, which have no hentai in it.

Well, anime listed as yuri in the MAL database can be as tame as kissing. That said, I do kinda find the concept of shoujo-ai more appealing than yuri because shoujo-ai presumably has a better focus on romance, and less fanservice.

Shocking
Yuri-hime's readership is 75% female at their last polling, women are the main source of revenue for Yuri. Sidenote, I have observed Yuri being a lot more popular with younger women than with older women.

Interesting. My guess would have been closer to the exact opposite, lol. It seems to me that the majority of Western yuri fans are males, but maybe I'm wrong there, too.

There are seperate yuri magazines for males. And yuri (or shoujo ai, as you will) is also featured in many seinen magazines.

All the anime I've seen that have been tagged Yuri have been either mediocre or complete garbage *cough* Sakura Kiss *cough*, (and no I haven't watched Simoun, the first episode bored me), I get the feeling that shows with yuri rely too much on the yuri tiself to pull the weight of the show, and so is otherwise substandard.

The majority of the readers of the major anthologies are overwhemingly female. As for sources/statistics I don't really have, I'm just repassing what I thought was common knowledge, but, I will probably work on those sources someday, if I ever learn Japanese.

On mal, yes, but that term is long obsolete, yuri range is much wider than that, from girls holding hands to whatever NSFW work you can find.
Even on mal some titles are beggining to adapt to our later years. See Sakura Trick and Akuma no Riddle tags, none of they are hentai and they aren't tagged as shoujo-ai. Which is a good thing, mal might be slowly walking towards updating itself. If only the db mods would reply to this thread.

I like both but from the drawing aspect, if the picture is nicely drawn with amazing colors and certain poses, I don't mind either, i love collecting pictures :)

For a Hentai or Anime wise, it is a bland for me. I don't like nor dislike both of them but i will lean more toward yuri than yaoi sometime.

I couldn't say for sure but Yuri is rather popular in one of my lesbian subreddits; I think it's more that Yuri is generally "watchable" for heterosexual men while Yaoi has that "Ew, penis" factor

So less that men are fans and more that men will just watch Yuri like everything else, I think women tend to be far more in the actual category of fan because of the sense of validation and representation Yuri provides that heterosexual romance doesn't

That's okay, I'll take your word for it. I was just surprised because I read on multiple blogs that "most yuri is still drawn by men for men." I don't know what the yuri mangaka gender stats say—but, I suppose that either that's untrue, or a lot of females also read male-targeted yuri.

Mogu-sama said:

Yeah, likewise. I meant that yuri is more inclusive now (if it wasn't always); it doesn't only refer to explicit physical relationships.

It'd be interesting to see the gender demographics for yuri viewers from a western audience, opposed to a Japanese audience.

I know on one (western) site I go to that uploads strictly yaoi content, a survey showed that the overwhelming majority of visitors were male, which wasn't expected at all.
