| What was the first series that watched all the way through beginning to end and what ultimately got you in to anime. For me, it was a little weird. I saw my sister watching gunslinger girl and then I liked it and started watching it but I didn't really get in to anime until somebody saw me watching it and told me to watch darker than black. That's the series that got me in to anime |

| inb4 lock Digimon was mine. I'd watch it every day after school, even though I was already in junior high at the time and my family thought it was weird I was still watching cartoons. After the second season, I began to find out more about anime from discovering the internet and the joy/bane that is the internet message board. That led me to Cowboy Bebop, Akira, Evangelion, etc. EDIT: 5000 GET! |

| Samurai Pizza Cats, DBZ, Pokemon and Sailor Moon were the first anime I remember watching. I just thought they were normal cartoons back then, though. So I guess they didn't really get me into anime. Naruto got me to seek out more battle shounen anime. Death Note was the first anime I watched out of my comfort zone since it wasn't an action anime, that's all I was into before I watched Death Note. I feel like it helped me try watching anime I wouldn't normally watch. | I like how the haters distort reality and make shows like Mirai Nikki look like not good anime for acting like a gateway to it... turns out Mirai Nikki and Elfen Lied are both good for a gateway, they just don't want to admit it. |

Mirai Nikki would be a good gateway series, but Elfen Lied would be kind of a tricky anime to start with. The excessive amount of gore and nudity it has could either get first time viewers hooked right from the start OR immediately turn off people as well because of the relatively big shock factor it presents. |

Yeah, I think I'd agree about Elfen Lied being not a good anime for a gateway. It could be good if you already got into anime, or if you simply jumped there because you wanted excessive gore. | I really wish they'd make more stickies for threads like this that we see a hundred times... Hmm, I want to say either Dragon Ball Z or Gundam Wing. With Dragon Ball Z I watched it not knowing it was an anime, with Gundam Wing I knew. I'd also say it was more so Gundam Wing because it's what got more involved and interested in the medium where as everyone and their grandma watched Dragon Ball Z. |

| Death Note was mine. At the time I thought it was definitely the best anime ever. It's still good and I'd actually recommend it to most people as a gateway anime as well since it's a great example of what anime does that other mediums don't. |
