I'm a bit worried about how slowly this is advancing, considering there are only 12 episodes =/ But in general I'm enjoying this quite much, this anime has a good chance for a high rating from me ^^

This show is much cuter than I expected, I love it! :D

If you really want to fit in, just put Legend of the Galactic Heroes in your top 5 and have it be the only 10-rated anime in your list.

Awesome anime! It is slow and all but I am ready to take the slow ride!

Maou is so damn cute! I want to give her a hug every time she demands something from Yuusha!

I was looking forward to the anime a lot when I saw the plot and the seiyuu, but I was a bit worried because of the production team, but after having seen this episode, I say great job, ARMS!

This and Kotoura-san are the two best new anime of this otherwise quite disappointing season! Looking forward to the next episode!

so blue hero & red queen move to new area to start fresh with help build new land while help of red queen's top maid.

all well then something sneak to reveal 2 sisters who were lost & runaway slaves give head maid bit "grr" on them yet give them bit food yet head maid want them out.

but under terms the 2 sisters be more human & live normal they agree so now adopted both of them as maids all well more to go on it.

I am enjoying it, mostly because it deals with logistics, agriculture and economy. The romance stuff is ok, a couple scenes were funny.

I like how there's economic and agricultural lessons going here. And Maou and Yuusha are so cute, even though it's only second episode :) For the most part, this episode had a slice-of-life vibe and the nice bgm contributed to that and also the scenery animation feels very refreshing. The part with the head maid and the serfs was pretty predictable. I knew she was being harsh on purpose and trying to teach the girls to think for themselves. So far, I'm liking this series.

In summary, this series might even be interesting, but is much "false".

Myself said:
After watching the second episode, my impressions of the series are not good. The premise is interesting, the content is good, but the series is unable to be as smart as intended.
The characters are forced, and his ideas have flaws logic and glaring contradictions.
Although having the same voice of Horo, Mao does not have one tenth of her wisdom.
The characters can read quotes from encyclopedias ad nauseam, knowledge is different from intelligence.
And wisdom is simple, not complicated sentences.

Anyway, is not a Spice and Wolf, much less Jintai as "we" expected.

I really liked this episode. The excessive fanservice we seen in the first episode was absent in this one.

I really hated the maid. Just judging by how she was interacting with Maou and the hero, I didn't think she would treat the kids so cruelly. At least they were treated right in the end.

I like how Maou and the Hero actually have some form of a relationship going. Most anime nowadays have a tsundere punching the MC until the last episode where they start a relationship.

A lot better than the previous episode. Good to see they cut all fanservice out this time.

The relationship between the yuusha and maou still feels pretty forced. It really was just too sudden. There is still no real reason for why the girl is after the guy either.

Episode was okay, a little slow in parts but the dialogue in parts was really fun as it went between serious and lighthearted discussions smoothly for the most part. The show is thus far a ways away from perfect but I definitely like it.

Manga is far from finished. However, the web novel/light novel this show is based on is finished. So the ending is set in stone and unlikely to change. No way the anime will get there in one season, so it will probably just end on a convenient plot point and leave it open for future seasons if the demand is there.

I'm more optimistic that this show will have at least a slightly engaging plot, but personally I just find every single character to be terrible. The hero does nothing for me whatsoever, but what I found to be almost completely unbearable was the idiotic scenes between him and the Demon king. just ugh, and wow, aren't I being positive right now?

not really I think. Since they have no name to remember, we can easily remember their rank and status in society instead.

I just started reading its novel yesterday and I found names like young merchant, middle age merchant ,shrewdness treasurer, wing fairy, fairy queen.... and lots of char. Just imagine they have names for every each of that and it will turn out like Legend of the Galactic Heroes .I will end up forgetting their rank ,position and even names lol .In Maoyu anime, their rank/position can be easily judge by looks anyway.

I don't think it will stop. It does give off a similar vibe.

The financial politics, the girl not being human, the time period and the art.

There are many similarities and there's not much anime, other than S&W, which this can be compared too.

I can't help it but I keep thinking about Spice and Wolf when I watch this since I marathoned through both seasons of Spice and Wolf and fell in love with the Horo+ Lawrence combo. I doubt this is gonna be on par with Spice and Wolf character interactions. :\

Dunno if you are trolling or not (probably are from the last sentence), but if anything this show is merely portraying some of the true reasons for war. Ironically the show starts off with a particularly strong pro-war stance so I'm not sure what you are talking about.

I somewhat disagree that the scene was forced, in that scenario something like that could easily happen (at least from my experience). However I do share your point about asking about why she is after him so badly, they haven't given us a proper one yet. Hopefully it clears up with time.

I'm a fan of the romance that this show is trying to focus on, but I have my doubts on whether it's working. While Maou has a distinguished and very admirable personality, Yuusha hasn't really done anything to stand apart from generic self-insert heroes.

The only thing he's known for at the moment is his (albeit foolish) chivalry and compassion to save everyone, which isn't anything original. And unlike Spice & Wolf, Yuusha doesn't seem to have anything interesting about him that would cause the couple to even fall in love with each other. Granted, S&W is focused entirely on a duo so MMY will likely never be as good of a romance considering that it focuses on fantasy/government issues as well. However, we should at least be given some reason for why the two even like each other. Hopefully the later episodes will start to flesh-out the two.

On a plus, there's less crude fanservice, a stronger direction towards a more light-hearted, intellectual atmosphere, and I like how we're already starting off with a kindling pseudo-relationship. I can only hope that the characters will develop as strongly as the plot is.

I'm not familiar with the novel/manga so I expected a lot of comedy from episode 2 based on the preview from the last episode. But I'm glad that there's little of that. I feel refreshed watching an anime that can be related to real life -- particularly crop rotation. This episode makes me look forward to the next :).

Some thoughts on the episode:
  • Meido-do new part of budo^^
  • poor boar
  • Hero is afraid of unemployment?
  • Are the demons really demons? Their Queen is too nice for that!
  • It's strange that she is called Demon King although she is obviously female

Really enjoyable episode!

This is definitively one of the better shows running this season, and i have a feeling it will end up in my top 3 of the season. Now I'm just hoping for more interaction between Maou and Yuusha because as others have pointed out, there seems very little going for him apart from being the 'hero', but considering the story and feel it should happen within the next few episodes.
