| AH YUP, Ataru's long rival, the Young Master Shutaro is here, courtesy of Mamoru Miyano's signature voice. Anywhere and everywhere, it doesn't get better for Shinobu with Atary and Lum flirting in the open, and there's Shutaro Mendo, the transfer student who knows how to make his entrance flashy and be a gentleman to the girls. While he's taken aback by Shinobu, it's Lum who appears, evolving the love triangle into a love square. Shutaro's not kidding on his claims of being elected as the class president appealing to the ladies, and the boys' hopes all pin on Ataru appealing to them. Surely, this is the first of many scuffles, and this will set Shutaro's heart ablaze. While Lum is looking for Ataru, he looks for Shinobu to reassure her of his love, but the kabedon isn't. The class outdoor expedition where they come in casual clothes (Lum looks nice), and Ataru took the chance to scribe the cave maze to get close to Shinobu, with Shutaro acting the same trying to get their ideal partners. Unfortunately, Shutaro's isn't the upstanding person he is, as he's afraid of the dark. Getting in is easy, but getting out is a problem, where Lum just fired a rocket, it's the boys getting all cozy. This is some funny stuff! |

| 3 episodes in, I still hate Lum. Shinobu turned out to be so superficial too, this episode was somewhat funny thanks to the new guy though. |

| Couldnt stand the guys of this show anymore, its a shame, both were spectacular at Uramichi but here I just cant, characters were annoying af, see u Lum. |

| Mendou transfers to the school a womanizer (the lint comment kek) but ends up only having eyes for Lum. Meanwhile, Shinobu has given up on her neighbour to pursue rich kid would commit seppuku. Though at odds, Ataru and Mendou be like bros and coordinate the flashlight scheme in the cave to get their crushes to hold on to them... (they fail miserably + when Mendou is not in front of girls, he cries like a frightened baby). A space ship has been uncovered and there's another alien babe inside. |

Mendo's introduction is kinda meh but the second half is great. I gotta admit, Lum looks good in those clothes. Hope the jokes aren't just 'Shinobuuuu!!!' and 'Daaarliiing!!!'.  |

| The love square was wonderful. It really reminded me of that Ranma episode where everyone ends up together in a field trip. They seem to be having fun getting along, but then their thoughts are revealed and everyone is there only because of their own love interests. The cave segment was very enjoyable, each character seeking their own goal. Miyano's voice was a quite welcome plus. |

| Probably the best episode so far. Helps that they're both adaptations of some of my favorite manga chapters too. Ataru breaking Mendou's fake gentleman personality is always fun to watch. A friend of mine also pointed out on Twitter how they changed it so the crashed spaceship at the end of the last segment was one belonging to Kurama, leading up to the next episode. Really neat detail. Definitely looking forward to the next episode, since Kurama's also a pretty fun character, but I'm really hoping for them to start adapting stuff the original anime never covered. It'd be nice if they took advantage of being able to animate some awesome manga-only moments for the first time. |
