Well they got suited up fast

Kinda felt bad for Katia with the way she was treated. Sylvia badass as ever. There's some glimpse of some more grim flashbacks but I expect that will be explore more in this season. We already got some characterization on Katia this episode.

Action was kinda thrilling but I think Katia really needs to watch her back. Literally.

Almost forgot how anyone can die at any given moment in this series lol....A lot of death flags

The politics and just mostly everyone's mindset in this series are so fucked up man like these people are just something else lol....I actually feel bad for Katia considering that everyone is so against her and this unified movement thing - I felt bad finding out about what they did to her dad too, good characterization here tho and I am impressed by her knowledge and skill with the mechs too

Those Stasi people are interesting yet cruel but I want to find out more about and see more of them and especially more from the dark haired girl that I guess is the rival to Best Girl Iris - I hope that there's more to the situation of her killing her brother/family because she is nowhere near as bad as her pairs are making her out to be as a person, so I hope to get more clarification on that

Action scenes were good as usual with Muv-Luv and there's a good amount of suspense and intensity to go along with it as well....Good episode overall for me, and Theodor is starting to get a lot better for my taste personality wise so that's a plus

Also, Slyvia needs to chill

C'mon this anime...it makes me feel like one of the MCs could die at any moment!
100% sure Onee-san will be the next to die.

Really liked the second half!

Lots of things have occured in this episode.

The Stasi are wary and suspicious about the appointment of Katia in commander Bernhard's division.
The final defence line in Ukraine has been breached to the point that 60% of the forces stationed have been annihalated. Typical in MLA and reminds me of the Sagoshima incident.
The information about Katia and Theodor's father has been censored and presumably covered up considering he is a traitor, after deciding to run from the country to the West.
The Stasi's TSF division are most likely not going to show as reinforcements whenever Katia is involved, you can see this from a mile away. I'm just speculating here but it must be something similar.

Definitely much better.

Katia's character is so predictable. Overall... the typical average episode.

I just kept thinking how it'd be so nice to play a few war/strategy games instead of watching this.

Definitely the most difficult mission that he's encountered. Shit could go wrong in seconds.

I would recommend reading the article about "Stasi" and their techniques on wikipedia. What happens in the anime and the atmosphere makes much more sense once you know what the real life Stasi during the Cold War were all about. It says its estimated that 1 in 6 East Germans were a Stasi informant or collaborator.

I felt like the pacing was fast this week a bit as well, however for me I think they managed to pull it off somehow, and also damn it, I feel super scared to be quite honest about the direction XD

The biggest problem with this anime is that there is not a single likeable character in it. The MC is a bit of s dick so far. Hope this gets better, I enjoyed Muv Luv.

Katia can only blame her own stupidity getting her ass kicked. IF she had any situational awareness, which she doesnt, she would have kept her mouth shut.
And i hate to agree with that Stasi officer, but Katia got assigned suspiciously fast to 666th without interrogation. Evil secret police or not ,anyone would be untrustful.

Very intense episode, especially the scene where the Stasi came to question Katia. I agree that the characters are kind of assholes at the moment, but I'm still enjoying this nevertheless. Actually, I think this is the dark horse of the season for me so far.

This series probably would've been better if it was 2 cour. Not that this 1 cour is bad.

I was hesitant to continue watching this anime cause I was worried if the anime would show a scene where something happens to a certain character, but I figured I'd watch it anyway and bear through it until the scene shows up and decide what to do then.

I'll be honest here, I don't really like Mecha anime that much, but I'm trying to get used to it while watching some popular and airing mechas. That doesn't take away that this anile hasn't disappointed me yet though. Good action and political issues. Let's see where this goes.

wish i could get more invested but you can pretty much tell that everyone is gonna die except for iris, katia and theodor

and maybe iris too. speaking of iris guess something more happend in the past than that she simply sold out her family to the stasi.

kinda like theodor. he knows how dangerous the stasi is, he had his family killed and now he just wants to survive and attract as little attention as possible.

This anime is promising but I wish they would make the lead characters a bit more interesting. Theodor is another shallow protagonist who is rebellious and trusts no one, while Katia is the innocent heroine that is looking for her lost father. Irisdina seems to have a dark past with her brother but it's unclear for now what her true character is. Hopefully, the anime can develop some creative characterizations in them before the show reaches the halfway point.

So the Stasi commander has the same mindset as the Russian commander in a other Muvluv series.
Sacrifice some importuned unit units for a possibly small thread and even sending that thread of the an isolated fortress.
Honestly it seems like a very wasteful move for something very minor.

For those interested.
The Balalaika refers the the Mig-21 and Phantom refers the the F-4 both are fighter aircraft and both are still in use by various counties.
The Mig-23 was supposed to replace the Mig-21 but it wasn't liked by pilot's and production for it ended in the same year as the Mig-21.
It's use now is limited.

The characters' personalities are so thin I could print reports with them.

A total rehash of Total Eclipse. If I wanted to watch Total Eclipse again I woulda watched Total Eclipse again.

Everything else is carried by the awesome Muvluv setting.

well, if you got a pretty harsh goverment, (dictators) they don't want people to think different,
if you were in nazi germany and you didn't like hitler, you kept your mouth shut, or you got in a "accident" or you'r family had a "accident". that's what i believe is political indoctrination, it also could be showing alot of propaganda, someone help me out here

Damn, Sylvia doesn't hold back does she? But Katia needs a wake up call - wrong anime to be the innocent moe girl.

2 eps in and I'm already afraid of of more members of squad 666 dying, before we even get to know them that well. The Stasi have squad 666(and every1 else for that matter) on a leash. Lying about the reinforcements was so dirty, and even worse, splitting them up. I wonder if Pham will make it to the 4th episode...

Theodor might be kind of a jerk but the guy has reasons to, given the circumstances. Hoping for some solid character development from him though.

It's painful watching this given how silly everything is. Their strategy in every fight seems to be "stand there and get surrounded." Rockets do nothing but a single bullet from the mech will kill. The Stasi and the whole political situation is so laughably impossible. This show must have been written based on an outline they made when they were in elementary school with lots of cool sketches of mechs surrounded by bugs.

That's cause the BETA have laser class, the laser class will shoot down the rocket before it even reaches the BETA, that's why one of the important role when combating BETA is to annihilate the laser-class otherwise any aerial support is useless.

That's also why the marines/navy are very important to the army strategically, the BETA can't swim, they can only travel through the surface of the ocean.

So Katia and Theodor are brothers? Or i am missing something? She is searching for her dad, but he is her brother, so why is he hiding that from her?
The names of those mechas are pretty funny, Balalaika and Cheburashka ahahahaha
I still can't understand a few things in the plot, so Germany is 2 countries and Stasi are the police of both of them? Hope they will explain it better in the next episodes, but one thing i'm sure, Stasi are ass***es.

Katia and Theodor aren't siblings. Katia just reminded Theodor of his lost adoptive sister.

After world war 2, Germany got split into 2 parts East Germany and West Germany (to be exact it got split into 4 parts before becoming 2 parts but since this is a parallel world it might have been different). East Germany is under USSR while West Germany is under USA. Stasi is the secret police of East Germany, they want absolute power to control their people in short dictatorship.
