This is really interesting though, I hope it keeps up!

Here's my thoughts about that:

and my question is why Keiichi isn't in Hinamizawa.
did he change his ways or maybe he is still harming kids in the city ?

man the death accident is kinda lame, seriously Rika you didn't think a truck could hit you at that speed??

this new world. somethings not right, i mean everything seems perfect, too perfect if i may add. Takano, and Irie missing, no tokyo to manipulate behind the scenes, Houjou and Sonozaki families had a truce, there were a few protest but no riots.

Rena reverts to her old name Reina, Keiichi and Rika's relationship returns from the original start, no keiichi, Satoshi is alive and well.

wtf is happening!?!?!?!?! this is too good to be true.

and yeah when Reina made that face it LITERALLY shiver my skin for some reason O_____O

cannot wait for more of this!!!!!!!

After the first episode I expected another funny episode but now it's so mysterious again °__°

Reina was so creepy!

I don't like how Rika and Satoko are not close in this arc ._____.

And why doesn't Rika talk to Hanyuu when she's back in June '83? Or is Hanyuu gone? Auauau~ ;__;

Could all of this have something to do with the end of Kai ? Meaning , that lady that went to little Takano and stopped her parents from dying changed the future ?

The impression that I'm getting from this new world is that Hinamizawa Syndrome simply never existed. Of course, it could be that it was never researched by Takano Hinami so it still exists but is not known about... but I suspect that it just doesn't exist because otherwise you'd think at least one of the mysterious death incidents would have still occurred, namely Satoko killing her parents.

It's so hard to hear the difference between "Reina" and "Rena", would it be that much more obvious to a Japanese speaker?

This world is free of tragedy yet it doesn't seem like a happy place overall, I hope Rika can end up back in the Matsuribayashi world with her friends or else all the events of Kai will just be futile for her...

even though this looks like the perfect arc, where there's no problems, it's just so depressing. i died when the car came( so did rika ). it's like she was given lemons and finally made lemonade in the last arc, and now she has no lemonade or lemons to make it with.

Seems like a perfect world to me, even her parents are alive.
I wonder why Re(i)na had her scary moment though, maybe it was a trick by the animators and she was just shocked by the mention of a "DISMEMBERMENT MURDER", which would sound scary somehow when someone asked me out of the blue about this.

Man I would slap Rika-chan so hard if I could. Probly her friends too.. Riding their bikes the wrong way on a one-way road with no vision next to a cliff with no helmet? WTF. RIKA CHAN!!! :(

The fact the timeline they worked so hard to make end like this pisses me off. :(

I guess it makes sense though.. After dying 1000+ times and just coming back, I can see where her fear of death might be a little.. broken. Lol. :/ BUT DUDE. :(

Seriously Rika? Watch where the heck you're going LOL. Seeing them all ride their bikes so fast down that road was making me so friggin nervous rofl. I knew something like that was gonna happen :/. It is rather frustrating though, she worked so hard to achieve that world and now its gone >_<.

Also *Reina* did actually scare the shit outta me, goddammit lol >_>

This episode was great though, I can't wait to see what happens next :D.

Damn what a departure from the first episode!
This is crazy... no Tokyo, Takano, Irie, but most of all Keiichi!

It is a world where the Dam war never happened, and Oyashiro’s curse never came to fruition. What a turn of events.

Rika must be feeling conflicted, since everyone is seemingly living a happy life. She has to make the choice of living as things are but feeling out of place, or making the necessary changes and facing the consequences (ie. Takano, Satoshi coma, Rika and Satoko’s parents gone, Rena’s parents’ divorce etc.)

As an end note, that change of tone for Rena upon hearing DISMEMBERMENT MURDER was freaky! Wonderful from the VA, that caught me off guard!

There definitely seems to be something wrong even in this world.

Excited to see what’s next!

I'm curious if the event seen at the 'end' episode where Miyu went with her parents to the store triggered a chain reaction where there was no Dam War nor 'Toyoko' Organization or anybody for that matter.

Just goes to show, bike safety should be number one! (Especially if you live in SF)

Thats the meaning behind those spinning bicycle wheel at the opening song sequence! Nice foreshadowed, Deen!

This episode, apparently, continued the post credit scene that happened at the final episode of season two. Mostly, while Takano had a perfect chance to live, rather than trapped at the worst scenario of hwr lives, where she must faced with Hinamizawa disease and co. The result of those certain action kinda huge. No Keiichi. No dam war. Rena and Satoko lived a satisfying lifes. No Oyashiro-sama curse. What else different?

Still, the starting plot kinda silly; Rika killed by her smuggish action and by a truck-kun ! That accident led her into those parallel world created by her own shadow. Welp, its really an unfortunate accident, aggreed. She should've listen to Hanyuu advice there. Rest in peace, or actually no? Was this episode also confirmed that Rika still had an ability to restart whenever she death, even after surviving those turn-table events? Welp, thats really a big move to expand the series!

Okay, Rika, time to solved another mystery at another parallel world, shall you? And she must did it alone, apparently. Poor her....

The environment of the new village? Well, you can read it by yourself at the synopsis and episode explanations xd.

Rika managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The ending of Kai would have been too perfect, though well-deserved by Rika & co. The contrast between the happy and wacky episode 1 and episode 2 is peak Higurashi.

Presumably yes.

Even though Rika died in one of the dumbest ways possible in the beginning, this arc seems really interesting.

I guess this is the world where Takano was never orphaned, from that scene at the very end of Kai ?
I was thinking the same thing. Is it just a coincidence that in this world there was no dam war as well?

why oh why truck kun when everything was going fine and rika didnt want to die why did you take her from the world she fought so hard to protect from takano, and that to she got reincarnated in a world where oyashiro-sama's curse doesn't happen. also that rena moment was scary i spilled my coffee while watching that scene
