Yamakan wants to play Miyazaki? Fine, but it's not going to work if it continues to feel this artificial and produced.
Pretty much.

Interesting. As some people have mentioned, this is very unique (so far). At first I was looking for the girl that had purple hair, so I'm surprised that they changed it from what appears on the pictures on MAL.

For some reason I feel that this will be a good series, so I'll be waiting for more.

I can see why everyone can already like this, but I feel like that girl that popped up in the end is going to annoy me to no end.

They haven't said anything about the location but thats definetly west Ireland. The cop car had Garda on the side the stone walla by the ocean, the music, the houses. It was all Irish-y

Loved it! I can't wait for more.

One of his parents mentions a city called Luimnigh which is a real city in Ireland.

Really interesting anime looking forward to the next one.

It really felt like a Miyazaki film but I think I actually liked it more.

Anyways, I will definitely be following this... Along with just about every other show this season. I really thought, for some reason, that this season was going to be very weak in the series offered but this is so far better then the past 2 seasons. Hopefully it keeps it up.

Fractale, you have my interest. Lets keep it up!

Oh my, this is Miyazaki.

Not bad of a 1st episode, but I need to see the next to determine if I should continue on.

I FINNALY FOUND THE KIND OF ANIME THAT I LOVE!!
(I guess everyone has their taste :O)

It was really like ghibli-style, I get the feeling I was watching a movie rather than a serie :O

anyway, I really LIKE this! will surely watch the upcoming episodes!!!

I'm still not exactly sure what to think of this anime. It seems to be a slice of life piece mixed with sci-fi and fantasy elements. Well, that doesn't sound too bad, plus I really liked the background music. Still, being someone who has no knowledge of the source material, I have little suspicions that it may veer into some kind of harem fantasy later on but I'm willing to admit that I'll still give it a chance.

I think it'll be fine. It is highly improbable that a show on noitaminA will ever degrade into a harem anime; it is not a programming block geared towards 15 year old males.

Eh, it was a decent start, but it didn't wow me.

I definitely got a Miyazaki vibe from it too, and it also reminded me a bit of FLCL.

I wouldn't know how to react if my lappy summoned a loli either.

Loved the first episode with reasons I can't explain, aside from the fact that it's, well, IT'S BEAUTIFUL and intriguing. It'll be easy for me to look forward to the next episode.

Well, in a sense, the anime's a lot like Sora no Woto in that its promotional material art differs greatly from the actual thing (except this found much more hype). That hair color what

Feelin' the Ghibli vibe. It actually reminded me a lot of Castle in the Sky. Beautiful remote village, the flying machines, the falling mysterious girl, the ordinary boy, their cute chemistry. Even down the the bumbling brothers after the girl.

Anyways, I thought it was fantastic, and I can't wait for next Thursday (-sigh- its Kuragehime all over again...)

In this episode the side of the police car said Garda, that’s the name of the police force of the republic of Ireland. In fact the countryside looks very Irish, I'm certain they based the environment on Ireland!

I have high hopes for this series based on the opening episode though, a little concerned it may go "light" on whatever theme is driving it. I certainly hope not, the idyllic atmosphere as setup now will contrast nicely with a "dark thingy" floating under the surface.

I suppose I could check the manga... too lazy...

Saw this on Funimation today. It was a pretty cute episode. I wouldn't say I'm really hooked, but the animation was nice, and the characters are likable. The three antagonists were pretty amusing.

But why did the main girl randomly think it was fine to just go around the boy's house naked? ಠ_ಠ I get she's from a different time period or something, but come on.

Well, the style is interesting. I'd like to see how the series pans out before I decide if I like it or not. It's not quite like the manga, which is fine for me, because I didn't really like the little of the manga I read.

The ending song is certainly nice.

An interesting start. Wasn't what I had expected either. I was expecting a more sci-fi approach. Definitely feeling the Ghibli/Miyazaki-ness in this too. Too bad it wasn't made on a movie budget. >_>

I feel like I just stumbled upon a gold mine. Too bad we're not going to see that phryne girl for a while (based on reading the synopsis). I'm really going to like this season. There's a lot of new shows I like, and with the shows that are still airing from the previous season, I will be entertained quite a bit.

First off, that was a trippy opening.

I'm really liking this so far, I'm getting a Xam'd/Miyazaki vibe from this. Phryne instantly reminded me of Nausica and Nakiami when she was on that glider/flying machine.

Will be looking forward to the next episode.

Well, exceptional work. Finally some serious anime with some decent content. A real "postmodern" anime I would say.

I could see Azuma's script even in the first episode. "Fractale is a world where there are no wars, and you don't have to work". Of course, that's the ("real") virtual world.
"We can get by without communicating with the others for the most part". That's another key-lecture of the anime, I think, though I'm pretty sure it's meant in a negative way and things will develop. (and they already start to develop by contrasting a girl with the protagonist, which is some kind of modern but gentle otaku a là Jean)

Some contents reminded me of Mamoru Hosoda's Summer Wars.

I invite people to think while watching this anime. I know that this is something that happens less and less, recently, where it's just stupid enterteinment :\

This isn't Miyazaki homage, it's Miyazaki ripoff. Just having identical visuals does not make it worthy of the comparison. Imo, the characters failed miserably. Dialogue and interaction were so contrived it hurt my brain. It's been a long time since I felt so annoyed--but then again I don't watch moe so there.

wtf is with all the hated against this just because of Yamakan, and it's not like the whole series depends on him. what about the whole team working.

Anyway i think he did a good job on this, at least for ep1. OP was great too though it's just fractals. Rumors that this will be Yamakan's last piece of work, just hope there there's gonna be 26 eps for it.
