Great episode to end the OVA series.
I really enjoyed these past two episodes. It was a little emotional towards the end but that is how this show is. :)
After seeing that clip after the credits. I'm really looking forward to season three. Can't wait! XD

and the epilogue gave way to a possibly darker 3rd season - im really happy

Season 2 ended on novel 14, novel 21 is coming out November 10.

Also a couple things need some clarification here as people are getting wrong ideas:

1. Use spoiler tags when talking about whats gonna happen btw...

2.

Hopefully this clears up some things

People are confused because of the fact the idiots who made season 2 chose to hint he made a choice. He didn't chose at all, but just wait and see.

This last two OVA episodes returned the series to it's original dark flavor where things are not black and white and there's no happily ever afters. It was quite sad and touching seeing how after everything is over and done with the girl won't be remembered, a fate worst than death. It was so deeply driven in by the fact her loved ones kept talking about her future and happily waiting for her. And the last part where the guy just cries without knowing why, that whole sequence was perfect. The last two episodes make the OVA's worth it.

!!!!!!!! SAKAI YUJI CHOSE SHANA AND NOT YOSHIDA KAZUMI !!!!!!!!

EXPLANATION: In the 22nd episode of season 2 (when shana and yoshida are sitting on the bench) right before shana says lets write letters to yuji and have him pick, shana says that yuji won't be leaving with shana tomorrow (december 24th, christmas eve, the day yuji's reiji maigo was taken by bal masque and the day he chose shana in the credits of ep 24, and yes he chose shana because kazumi was right about to cry and shana had that huge cute smile) so in shakugan no shana S spisode 4 after the credits, shana comes back to misaki city after leaving after being chosen by yuji on christmas eve and they are reunited once again. (you could tell yuji got a lot stronger and learned to control his power of existence better and possibly got more of it because he learned to fly or otherwise how the heck would he be standing on top of a bridge just like shana??)

Chalk it up to the crappy director and staff season 2 had. Thankfully the project changed hands. The OVA's purpose was to make people remember this series is more than just the slice of life romance that took up half of season 2.

I thought it was after since Shana got those image from Yuuji before, but at the end she will going to Misaki-shi and meet things that she unexpected (meet Yuuji, freinds, herp)
I know I didnt follow the series quite well, but I hope someone would explain clearer.

and season 3? YEAH. I WANT CLEARER.

The setting in episode 3 and 4 are before the main series (first season) start, is like a prequel to show us how Shana was before she met Yuuji.

Good, solid episode... Nice ending for the arc. I didn't particularly enjoy the arc more than I would have other episodes, but it was still decent. Not a "must watch", though, IMHO.

So it was right after this arc that Shana met Yuuji...? Hmm...

"Oh no, that photographer appearing in the middle of the night with his shawl wrapped around his face and sunglasses, practically longing for taking pictures of boys ... isn't suspicious at all!"

Apart from that, I really enjoyed SnS S. The last two episodes were a nice way of portraying what Shana went through before meeting Yuji by taking a single incident and developing the characters quite well (for very minor characters). It also nicely illustrated the huge difference a person' turning into a Torch can make for some and how distanced Shana practically has to be.

But...can't wait for Season 3 now, that ending scene was meeaaaan!

Guys, yuji did choose shana in the end of season 2. you could see that Yoshida had tears in her eyes and a sad look.(couldn't be the tear of happiness) Also, the happy reaction by shana supports that she got choose too. When she said "That day we got separated", and then came the flashback of christmas eve. It's got nothing to do with each other, it was just part of her memories she remembered. Got nothing to do with the say she got separated. something else must have happened.

Damn this was a good episode. Both parts were pretty depressing. I loved the vocals at the beggining when Junko and Yukio were on a date together.

Don't think it strange though that out in the middle of no wear some stranger walks up to you and just happens to have camera set for photoshoot and wants to take photo's of you? I mean yukio has no common sense.

So in the end Junko lost her existence and thier for her mother and her lover both forgot about her. Pretty sad. The Tomagara turned out to be another weak enemy for shana, but the real depth of this story was the emotional moments that it delivered.

Also i get the feeling that this story took place before shana even met yuji, as not a single other person was present and also shana just now entered misaki city. Interesting, ill have to read the novels if they ever get translated.

By far the most surprising moment in this episode was the end though, when Shana confronted Yuji on top of a bridge, since when does he have the ability to climb on top of a high bridge by himself? Also when shana said, "we parted ways" i guess that must be the introduction to season 3.

I am totally looking forward to where the story goes from here, its been along wait, but i hope they season 3 resolves all of the plot threads and helps bring closure to one of my favorite series.

i really enjoyed the last 2 episodes of SnS S.
it really showed how much shana has grown throughout the series, and how she has become more able to understand the feeling of herself and others, not just as a flame haze, but as shana.
compared to how cold and callous she was in these last 2 episodes, not being to able to understand the emotions surrounding Junko and those around her, shana's time with yuji and the others really opened her up to many new feelings and understandings

the end was pretty sad. junko's mom finally finding ease with her daughter growing up and even dreaming of her daughter's wedding, only for it to never be able to happen...
and junko's boyfriend at the end was really sad, as well. he broke down and cried for Junko after seeing her bracelet even when her existence was erased; this showed that he genuinely cared for her and was deeply saddened by her being gone forever, although he doesn't know it

although the action could've used more intensity, the story for this arc was really where it was at, and it was very well done

furthermore, very nice lead into season 3 at the end
8/10 for this OVA

Such a depressing way for torches to die off with all their loved ones forgetting about them. I really like scenes where the character is crying but they don't know why they are doing this. Very powerful, shows how much they care about their partner and how much suffering they're going through. Still feel bad for the mother though since she still seems like she remembers her daughter when looking at the cake.

I found these 4 episodes to be very enjoyable with the exception of Ep. 2. One was filled with great comedy while 3-4 told me a story about the sadness of reality within the SnS world. These were better than the 48 episode of Shana I've watched so far imho.

8/10

I guess I prefer a good short story over an extremely long story that's uninteresting half of the time and doesn't seem to get anywhere for 2 seasons. Hopefully season 3 won't be full of boring sol episodes.

Oh shit, what? So all that happened in those two last episodes was taking place after the last episode of season 2? Or just the ending sequence? Because it would be weird that she say that it is hard to melt in the human civilisation while she have been taking the place of Hirei for so long... Also, why would she bother to chase that Tomogara? Nah, I think that it was taking place before the first she have gone to Misaki City and that I just misunterprated.

It was in overall a good little arc. Nothing that relevant to the main story but some background on how Shana was dealing with Tomogara in the past.

It's kinda a bit sadist to give that poor guy the wristband. Now that he ''remembered'' that girl that never existed in his reality, it's like he will be chasing a mirage...

Well, since I read the synopsis of the season 3, I know a bit why she said that at the end, but I wonder when that scene is happened. From the way she say it, it look like she have been separated for a long time.

Pretty sad story... the more so when you realized that her brother was probably also eaten by this tomogara and that not only her parents lost two of their children but that the future she had in front of her and marriage with Yukio was also lost.

I liked it. Probably the most mature story of Shakugan because the rest of this series is either shounen faito or naive slice of life romance and this was very good drama instead. The moment when the boy started shedding his tears in search of something he had just lost was very emotive and symbolic for this series.

Having rewatched this again, it was decent... nice little bit to tide over between seasons, and also a 2 episode short story which seems almost like it was a proof of concept 1-shot for the premise of the franchise. Also serves as a nice flashback and snapshot recap when including after credits, with some foreboding. I can also see how it can be a bit confusing. It lead into an epilogue after the credits, even though it seemed pretty clear that everything prior was before Shana met Yuji.

If nobody noticed, the ED song sounds a hell of a lot like this song:

Not sure if coincidence, morphic resonance, or just directly inspired. I don't particularly care for the lyric of this song by DHT, but the melody is hard to forget.
