I've always pronounced it as anime(Anee-may).
"Move as swiftly as the wind"
"Stay as silent as the forest"
"Strike as fierce as the fire"
"Undefeated like the mountain"

OT: I was born a weeb, so i've always pronounced it right. Most of the time i say ay - nime to rile up other weebs though.

Same as I always had since I first read the word~

Prolly because I'm Asian? lol my boyfriend (he's American) is incredibly slang whenever he tries to pronounce anything outside of English. Hearing him say anime titles in Japanese always makes me laugh. xD

I've been using more of a Japanese pronunciation since I started learning and hanging out with my Japanese friends. It's a good habit to get into in general, because it gets your brain ready to speak.

And you're gonna wanna use an accent. Nothing sounds worse than a thick American accent drizzled all over Japanese words. It's cringey.

I still just say anne ii may. I know a Japanese person would make vowels sound different bcuz i am studying Japanese. However i think it would be pretentious to pronounce it like Japanese while speaking english.

When i speak Japanese i'll change it though.

This was way before I got into anime.

I read the term at first as the correct pronunciation "A-nee-may"
Until this asshole told me that I was wrong. I called it "A-nee-mee" and that was embarrassing when people corrected me.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. I pronounced it as "anna-may" and still do. I also pronounce Naruto as "Nar-a-to". I guess anime would be pronounced as a-ni-me (ah-nee-meh for those who don't understand romaji). Google pronounces it like this, anyway (not sure how many Japanese people pronounce it as "meh" rather than "may").
