THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Finally, more focus on the Aerial Knights. Bogue (the red haired guy) really has a grudge against the Walkure by the looks of things. I like the party the Delta team and others were having though. Something also really makes me wonder about Mikumo...what the hell was she doing alone at night? Poor Freyja, she sort of messed up for her debut lol. I think the crowd still loves her though. Pretty good episode, the Aerial Knights make their move yet again.. |

so freyja against her people, huh? nice episode again. Windermere just have 30 years lifetime, make Freyja already halfway to her death. Hayate should more showing his fighting skill than his dance, really. looking forward to Messer vs Keith duel. Loving this show with every new episode.. It's been a while since I got too excited to watch a new episode each week that I even watch the RAW even though I understand little japanese.. Really digging Hayate's dancing, hope he gets to use his dance moves during fights as well in the future.. Freyja is so adorable this episode.. I really hate clumsy girl type characters, but Freyja just won me over ever since episode 1.. <3 Walkure's songs still don't have much impact for me compared to Frontier's songs, but I can get used to them.. Have to wait another half a day for the subs though, bummer.. :/ |

Seems like everyting goes serious. I think Freyja will be effected the most here as she is a windemere. If she help the humans then will be hated by windemere and might also be hated by humans at the same time because she is windemere. Hard spots she has there =( |

ハインツ2世 寺崎裕香 メロディー チューバック(歌) Suddenly notice he is a brother of Keith. They appear in two divide episodes and do not notice the cast list. It seems would die early if he keep singing. Anyway, would Freyja only have a 30 years lifetime? |

So Windermere is basically declaring war against mankind and consider themselves the legitimate heirs of the Protoculture (I hope my Japanese is better than I think it is). INteresting. I must admit their Valks are absolutely awesome and their transformation into gerwalk and then battroid was pure mecha porn. Mikumo confirmed for being a 'more than human' I suspected her from other episodes to be a cyborg of sorts, but the scene in this episode gives her a more out of this world dimension. She reminded me of Sivil from Macross 7 for some reason (who is a Protodeviln), but maybe she's just from another race that was touched by the protoculture. The series is much better and enjoyable that what i expected when the preview episode came out. I'll gladly eat the crow feathers and all. |

Mikumo somewhere in the mountain or hills naked speaking to the stars guess you can't get any more mysterious than that. Other then that i think Mikumo has a messiah complex questioning her existence, i feel like i seen this route before. |

Ask any Japanese producer and they'll tell you that over there, only young sells. The moment they have 30 year old protagonists their audience disappears. Adults are supporting role only characters. As for Delta, at least on part of the Windermereans there is an explanation for the young age of characters. It seems their average life span is 30 years. This has massive implications. Not only does it put Freyja in a whole new light, but it also means that there's no way she 'loses' the triangle if her life is going to be that short. A big equalizer right there. Windermere looked kind of smallish so I wonder how their military plans to take on the entire NUNS. Maybe it will be a 'regional' conflict only? Or maybe their alliance is bigger than we expect? Interesting. There's a lot more meat to the background story than I expected. And the 2 mistery questions are: What is Mikumo? Who was the Earthling who showed Freyja human music all those years ago? (My bet is Basara or Alto) |

I can't be sure I like knowing this revelation about Freyja's limited life span. It certainly does gives her more focus and I do not like that aspect as I prefer to see a fair rivalry since I'm pretty sure a triangle will come about. This view could be both positive and negative or either one depending on how one see's it as more episodes come out. I wonder if this age thing is a plot device as to why Windermere does not want Earth culture around their people and resorted to go to war with them. The feels of seeing the past idols especially Ranka Lee hit me. Farabeuf said: What is Mikumo? Who was the Earthling who showed Freyja human music all those years ago? (My bet is Basara or Alto) I got those same questions though I have high doubt it could be either Basara nor Alto. I just do not see it but I hope I get proven wrong. |

Did Hayate seriously shake his robo-booty?!? (O_o") The way that the girls jump around the battlefield like they were on cheat codes really makes me doubt the actual need for their "entourage" of bodyguards. And god damn those shout outs to the past singers were so damn good. |

Also, I really appreciate the shout-out to past idols in the franchise. |

i think this episode will give Frejya a VERY tight spot cause: 1. she will be suspected to be a spy by the goverment? because she is a windermereans 2. her fans will hate her? just because she is a windermereans 3. her debut going to be canceled? cause she is a windermereans |

Good, but not as good as ep3. Needs more Mirage and catfighting, Freiya-moe alone is not interesting enough for me, sorry :) Interesting that so many people suspect Mikumo to be a Cyborg of sorts... to be honest, I thought that she looked very Windermerian to me. She has a hair ornament which looks very tentacle-like to me, and/or she could hide one in her hair bun... and she's clearly the long-haired girl from the end of the OP. I'm also curious what this "Grudge" is that the Windermerian was referring to... |

If so, then they have a tendecy to do that and to add F word to drive a fucking point. I too agree that Sharon Apple vibes are coming from Mikumo. She is anything but normal, and I'm curious if she will end up good or bad later on... Lot's of talks about wings and wind. Some characters got developed quickly from last episode. Hayate doesn't stop smiling and still has trouble fallowing orders. Mirage is now frowning more on the other hand. Speaking of her, I'm so disappointed during her fight involvements so far. She had that personality and confidence in the first episode, and I have yet to see her justify the Jenius name. Sheryl's songs gave me chills when they were inserted during fights. I have yet to feel anything with Walkure's cast. |

My bet is that it will be something along the lines of Windermere being one of the planets that was seeded/modified by the Protoculture and that they see themselves as the rightful heirs of the Protoculture. They believe it should have been "them" and not humankind, that should have had the expanded throughout the galaxy. Humankind lucked out by having a Supervision army ship (The Macross) fall on them and giving them a huge technological boost that allowed mankind to leave Earth and use songs as a tool in colonization of space. This is entirely my speculation and would require Kawamori to lean back on previous Macross history,(the birdhuman in Macross Zero etc) which he isn't normally won't to do. It'll probably be something completely different and unrelated to previous installments of the franchise. |

Decided to watch the episode again in subs, but some things i noticed are the windermere relics, they strongly look like the fold quartz from macross frontier & is what Heinz is using for his var syndrome which i think may have some off shot connection to the v-type virus from frontier. Last thing i kind of notice was Mikumo, i keep hearing how she might be a windermere but that i really doubt that because if we take for example Freya when she gets the fold receptors going her rune is always noticeable nowhere does Mikumo has a rune being shown when she is singing. But the last thing i really took note of was her hair. There are two parts first is when she is naked in the hills asking the sky why she sings, you can see her hairs looks kind of sparkly & glittery, the last part is when she cures the piloit of the var sydrome her hair has this effect almost to show her power, whatever it is can be seen in episode 1 as well. I guess her hair may have some connection to fold i guess or to what she might be. When Heinz sings during the attack i find it interesting Freya touches her rune, Mikumo i think touches her hair but her body language gives off she's trying to listen, Messer reacts guess there something more we don't know to messer & Hayate touches his fold quartz. |

Tell your friend to get on here and fite me The glass canopies on modern fighter jets aren't actually glass, they're polycarbonate, which sounds worse (eww plastic, the stuff CD cases are made of) but they're pretty damn tough. Now, it is true that micrometeroid impacts are a problem because of their ridicilous (several km/s) speed, but glass windows are perfectly workable in space, albeit really fucking heavy because it has to hold one atmosphere of pressure against vacuum. But here's the difference: You don't really need to see out of the space station. You only need to see out in a few places: the docking area, and the aforementioned cupola, from which you take dank photos of the Earth and upload them to twitter for mad internet points. A fighter is different; good all around visibility is of the utmost importance. The F-35 tries to skimp on that (you can't see out the back very well because of the lift fan blister) and compensates with a rearview camera and other sensors; but a camera is not as good as an eye. It's not as fast (there's a little bit of lag), it's not as high resolution (inb4 somebody complains that the human eye doesn't have the same concept of resolution) and it doesn't have as good dynamic range (though that arguably doesn't count for shit in this context). Now, it being the case that this is a sci-fi anime where they can have a camera system with absolutely none of the disadvantages I just described, then yea, it's a no brainer. But if they had technology that good, I could just as well argue that they could also make a huge, curved canopy which is immune to micrometeroids and which filters out excess radiation (note the latter point is already a mostly solved problem, just look at spacesuit visors)... and thus we're stuck in an endless circlejerk with no way out. Another problem with windows is that they are a structural weakpoint; the hole cut in the structure to accommodate them results in a huge stress concentration and a weakening of the overall structure, which must then be compensated by making it heavier. HOWEVER: An armored cockpit has the same problem because you need to have a hole for the pilot to get in and out. Possibly a smaller hole, sure, but a hole's a hole. But anyway, my point is, the armored cockpit is not a no-brainer compared to a traditional, transparent canopy purely from a practical design perspective. And even from an artistic perspective... I think people like the idea of windows on spaceships to be able to see into the vastness of space, but that it's not a prerequisite for making a likable combat vehicle. Tanks capture a place in people's imagination and they have terrible visibility. Even within the realm of mecha, it is the norm rather than the exception to have armored cockpits; the only mecha I can think of where the pilot can see out of it directly is escaflowne. I can understand the argument that it needs windows to look "human" or "livable", but I would argue that does not apply that broadly. |

I will really like to share some of those information on how Walküre come to be, but honestly I got those information second hand by reading from Chinese translation on various event handouts, radio pod-cast and interview from the production team. So I can't justify the credibility and official backing of those info. (And as long time Macross fan,we all know that Macross series tend to bend setting materials here and there in-favor of plot from time to time.) There is one more thing that make me really reluctant to share those info is that there are a pretty vocal group of people here who dislike Macross 7 and Basara for particular and it may result in flame war. Just to throw it out that Mr.Kawamori has stated multipul times in pre-production interview that Delta is going to be inspier heavily by 7, and pretty much most of the setting behind Walküre and Ariel Knight is connected to Macross 7 in some way or another.... Also at least 2 video game that never make it outside of Japan is involved, and I can't get direct source from those because PSX game is just too ancient to come by. Anyway, will try to post more info later. |
