Well, it's 5am here already so I might as well go ahead: Episode 1 This was pretty great. I didn't expect the start to be this fast-paced, but I'm loving it. Her grandfather is extremely fun to watch and could probably carry the show on his own for a while ^^. His plans for the 92 Olympics is interesting as well (loving the countdown at the end of the episode) and for now I'm just really looking forward to see where this is going. If it focuses a lot on the sport that's great but with the cast so far I'd also enjoy it if it goes more into the s-o-l/comedy direction, at least for a good while. |

I am interested in that as well. The first few episodes seemed very fun and I am interested in Urasawa's older writing style as well. |

Ep 1 [spoiler] 3 things I learned from watching this episode 1. Oji-san is best char. 2. Yarawa's VA is one of the only female VA's that I don't find somewhat annoying. 3. Cheesy 80's op and ed are cheesy. Yeah this was a lot of fun and like Higashi said the grandpa can probly carry the show all by himself for awhile. I'm not completely unfamiliar with Urasawa's lighter works as I've been following the manga Happy! which is about tennis and there were quite a few lighter scenes similar to this in Master Keaton. Yeah theres something special about 80's s-o-l anime, as I've really been impressed by stuff like Maison Ikkoku and Kimagure Orange Road so hopefully this can live up to those as well. |

Ep 1 Fun so far~ I'm glad we're only doing one per day. This seems more like those Saturday morning cartoons rather than an anime with an underlying plot with a cliffhanger in each episode. ...WAIT URASAWA NAOKI?! WHAT?! WHAAAAAT. My expectations went straight up. Gonna expect it to get amazing. |

Episode 2 The rival girl is funny as well. Stuff like the money airplanes at the shrine cracked me up xD. Overall I'm digging the humour so far and the characters are likable so the episodes have been very enjoyable. Not really much to add, can't wait for the next one. |

Ep 2 [spoiler] A new challenger appears! Liked her false tooth and stereotypical ojou-san personality. It's somehow refreshing to see the stereotype plaed straight instead of parodied or mixed with other stuff. I like that they haven't overloaded us with a massive cast yet and are introducing the characters slowly. I wonder if we'll get to some more time with the young delinquent kid and his gang. The reporter and his partner seem to be a mainstay though. |

Episode 3 Sayaka really seems OP, but there also seems to be something off with the countdown at the end of the episodes. Between the end of episode 1 and episode 3 only 14 days passed and in this time she mastered the sport to win a tournament of that size? Plus I'm also pretty sure that at least once they mentioned that one month has passed so it doesn't add up. Anyway, aside from that it was another enjoyable episode. The character interactions are very funny and I have to laugh a bunch of times each episode ^^. And looking forward to the people joining us later! |

Ep 3 [spoiler] Yep another decent episode. Sayaka's new master and Yawara's new love interest seems like somewhat of a scumbag cheating on all those girls, but I think I'm willing to give him a chance if he managed to change his ways. Yeah I agree Sayaka is pretty OP but I guess thats her natural talent and stuff. |

Episode 4 No comments on the various peeping jokes -.-. But I'm enjoying how Jigoro keeps trying to trap Yawara into fighting. Her reluctance paired with her talent remind me of Ashita no Joe, just on the other end of the spectrum in almost any other regard ^^. |

Ep 4 [spoiler] Same here. Oddly enough I don't remember anything similar in Happy!, theres a chance this might have been added in just for the t.v version, but hey it's a s-o-l comedy, a little ecchi isn't gonna kill anyone >_> a few more years on Yawara wouldn't hurt though. I like that the grandpa feels more like a main char sometimes than Yawara lol. Yeah looking forward to the tournament and stuff. |

Episode 3 First episode after a break of several months, nice to see how easily I am still drawn in by the entire cast - normally I forget a lot about anime once I put them down for too long. Then again, this is still the intro. Sayaka mastering the entire sport in a few weeks at max is a bit strange, but then again: She is suppsoed to be this eternal rival and Yawara is probably still better. I laughed a lot at the perception most characters have from Yawara and how it clashes with reality. The contrast between her cooking and the other scenes was fun. Shin seems to be a goofy and likeable character as well. Episode 4 Et tu, Urasawa? Guess there really needs to be a KYAH ECCHI moment in 90% of all anime... the plan to trick Yawara into fighting was good, though. I also like the characters in the Judo club, hopefully they get to shine later on as well. |

Episode 5 A bit too much of the 'pervert approach' here, but at least it was kinda funny most of the time. I hope Yawara gets at least a little bit more interested in Judo because as a sports anime fan it's frustrating to see her be so unmotivated and disinterested in any kind of competition :/. |

Episode 6 Some potentially important stuff has happened there at the end. Will she stop fawning over Sayakas coach now that she knows who he is? I'm hoping maybe she gets jealous and it motivates her to want to beat sayaka in a match ^^. Also wondering if the scoop is gonna finally work out this time, or if it's gonna stay a kind of running gag. Also maybe I wasn't clear enough but what bothered me most in episode 4 was not sayakas progress but that I could swear they mentioned one month passing in either episode 3 or 4 but it doesn't add up with the countdown at the end. |

Episode 7 [spoiler] I really enjoyed this episode. It got serious for a change and gave us a glimpse into what Yawara really feels regarding Judo, which was interesting. In general I enjoyed the whole part of Matsuda and her fleeing from the reporters and everything that followed. I'm really glad there's been a lot of development this episode, I wasn't sure where this series is going and figured it might just use the established setting for rinse and repeat comedy. Glad that's not the case and I'm looking forward to the next episode with more enthusiasm now! |

Ep 5 Well the ecchi wasn't as bad as I expected, yeah I was also pretty disappointed that she didn't really seem to care to about winning or anything. I guess thats the joke though that shes really good at judo, but only wants to be a normal girl. Ep 6 [spoiler] Not bad for a date episode. I still think Sayaka's coach is a kind of a scumbag cheating on all those girls and stuff. Hopefully Yawara loses interest in him. I kinda wanna see Hanazawa the judo president as a love interest, but I doubt that'll ever happen since hes not "attractive" and stuff :( |

Episode 5 Thankfully a lot less ecchi than expected and I liked how the vice captain tried to win no matter what. Obviously the contrast between Yawara's wishes and her reality is played up again, but for now I don't mind it. it#s a 120+ episode series so i don#t expect fast developments in that regard. Episode 6 **** hit the fan in the last minutes, I hope this is the start of the first serious arc in this show. |

Ep 7 Really like that they gave the new reporter guy some decent backstroy. I guess they're priming him to be a love interest, which IMO is a good thing, since Sayaka's coach is such a scumbag. I'm guessing grandpa is gonna agree to coach Sayaka, because he wants Yawara to have a proper opponent and stuff. Plus they're probly offering a lot of money. They also gave a little bit of insight into Yawara's past and her struggle growing up and stuff, which was nice. I find it kinda silly how they always show a panty shot whenever she's flipping someone... but yeah romcom. Ep 8 [spoiler] Yeah I agree I'm really starting to warm up to Matsuda. There was actually a similar love triangle going on in Happy! and I was rooting for the male char similar to Matsuda as well. I'm glad Jiguro rejected Sayaka's offer, I guess he's just waiting though. I also feel like shes not going to the throw the match. Plus it would kinda halt the progress of the strory and theres still 100+ eps lol |

Episode 9 It was interesting to see some backstory about her parents, and I'm looking forward to meeting her mother next episode ^^. And I hope the fight will continue next episode as well. Episode 10 [spoiler] Well, I'm glad Yawara won that fight even though it was by accident. Now she'll have it harder trying to get away from Judo. Her mom also seems nice and the photos of the 'snowman' aka her father in training made me crack up. Definitely an enjoyable episode overall. |

Ep 9 [spoiler] Nice to know a little about her mother and father. They hinted pretty heavily that the reason her dad quit Judo is because Yawara was able to flip him. I find that kinda silly, but I guess it's a different culture and all that. The opponent seems pretty confident, but yeah I don't see Yawara losing this. |

Episode 9 There is no way she will throw her match after all these comments this episode, right? Not sure how to feel about her father's reaction. I imagine it must have been quite the shock for a freshly-crowned Japan champion, though. Episode 10 Haha, how disappointed she is by the lack of her opponent's skills. And that throw out of sheer reflex shows just how good she is. Her mother seems a bit stereotypical, but also quite likeable so far. Her father's training is also quite the classic. |

Episode 11 [spoiler] This was a pretty good episode, the new fanboy/stalker/asshole guy is legitimately creepy but also kinda hilarious. Episode 12 [spoiler] The fights in this episode were pretty one dimensional but it was okay since the satisfaction of seeing Creeper-kun being thrown around totally made up for it. Sayaka also seems to be doing well and I'm sure somehow Yawara will end up participating in that tournament despite her continuous lack of enthusiasm ^^. |

Episode 13 [spoiler] Well, I guess this episode has laid some more ground work for character development but it wasn't too enjoyable to watch for me. Mainly because Sayaka and Kazamatsuri are both horrible people who deserve each other -.-. And Matsuda was also close to scumbag territory when he was thinking about proposing that plan to manipulate Yawara. He tried to bail halfway through but that doesn't really make up for it. I'm generally also not a fan of the love triangle with Yawara and two much older guys so yeah, not my favorite episode but still a good one. |

Time for some catch-up Ep 10-13 [spoiler] Well I was expecting Yawara to win the match somehow, the reappearance of her mom was great, hoepfully she sticks around this time. So now a new challenger appears, can't be bothered to remember his name, I guess I'll just go with Creeper-kun as well. It was indeed great to see Yawara take charge of the Judo team and watch Creeper-kun fail. Also agree with Kazamatsuri and Sayaka are meant for each other. I'm still with Matsuda though. I kinda still wanna see Hanazono thrown in the mix, but yeah probly not gonna happen. |

I've gone ahead and watched a few episodes because I'll be on vacation until next week. This should have me covered until Sunday: Episode 16 Great episode. Hanabrono is just the best, it really cracked me up when he tried to open his cast with a freaking chainsaw xD. I'm really hoping that the judo team can win, but I kinda doubt it with Hanazono hurt and Sudo out of action. Definitely more optimistic about Yawara winning, though I have no idea where the show is going from there. And who knows, at some point Yawara will have to lose (I guess?) so maybe this is the time? Episode 17 The match between Todo and Sayaka was longer and closer than I expected. Knowing how easily Yawara demolished Todo the last time, how does Sayaka even think she can compete after having such a hard time against her? I agree with Jigoro that the differenc ein motivation definitely could play a decisive role, but the difference in skills seem to be too big to make it relevant. In any case I'm excited for the final match and what comes after. Also glad to see the guys from the club doing okay. They can definitely be satisfied with their performances so far, except maybe the first guy. Episode 18 Oh wow, that win was even more dominant than I expected. I guess she was in a hurry to see Hanazono's match so there was no time to hold back xD. Also Sayaka is such a sore loser, but at least she gave us a short scene with Yawara's dad, so that was cool. The best thing about the episode was Yawara finally realizing the joy of 'giving her best', which was what I've been hoping for for a while now. I still feel she lacks any real challengers/rivals though and with Sayaka being a pretty big focus but still more or less useless I'm not sure if that will change anytime soon. Episode 19 An interesting little tale about Jigoro's past, I quite liked it. But man, you just never know how much (or how little) of the stuff Jigoro is telling is the truth. His constant changing of the numbers for the bears (or his dans) and the attempts to make himself part of a relevant historical figures/works of art art just the tip of the iceberg I assume ^^. Episode 20 Lol, all the french people in anime are called Polnareff. The subs making Pornalef out of it was even better xD. It's a bit repetitive that the same battle of Yawara not wanting and Jigoro wanting her to go to a college that does judo, but the introduction of the four other top contenders of female judo made up for that. The one from Belgium seems like a flashier version of Sayaka and Kim seems kinda boring/too serious, but the Soviet one seems interesting and I already like Jody a lot. Definitely hoping for some kind of showdown next episode, and not Yawara talking her way out of it ^^. Episode 21 [spoiler] Rofl, he made her cry. And that smug laugh afterwards xD. Jigoro is the man. I also find it funny how Yawara doesn't seem to be able to refuse invitations for training even though she can refuse about anything else related to judo. Although she did finally speak up at the end, but it took her a good while and she regretted it shortly after. She could have realized sooner that giving her a quick match would be the best solution for both of them. And I really like Jody, hope we see more of her in the future. The bit with Sayaka and that Belgian judo women was also somewhat interesting. |
I probably regret this post by now. |

Ep 16 [spoiler] Hanabrono XD I love it. Indeed I love him. Jiguro and him are deff my top fave chars with Matsuda close behind. They did a good job of showing how little she cares about the match and more about the judo team too. The "rivalry" between Todoh and sayaka felt pretty stale considering how OP Sayaka is though. |

Ep 17 [spoiler] Yeah was not expecting Togoh to do so well. Just thought she would get destroyed like when she faced Yawara. Tbh I wanted to see the judo team's matches more. I just enjoy watching underdogs fight rather than over confident people like Sayaka and Yuki. Matsuda's motorcycle race/ride was pretty fun too. |

16 They are downplaying Tohdoh so much..are they setting her up for a suprise win? Unlikely considering Sayaka's skill but maybe it will be a typical "experience > talent" win? Sudoh is actually improving as a character pretty fast. He still has second thoughts behind some actions, but he seems to actually try by now. Hanabro is - as battosai said - still the best, though. 17 Tough struggle but a predictable outcome, I hope this foreshadows Tohdoh's growth though as I want to have more reoccuring oppoenents for Yawara. The match club against club was intense as well and the motorcycle trip as well. I really hope Yawara#s father doesn't cause her to throw the match initially - I imagine she will be quite shocked if she spots him in the audience. |

Ep 18 [spoiler] Pretty quick victory for Yawara. Tbh I was more interested in the Judo teams battles though. Hanabrono pulling through at the end was really satisfying, and we got to see Yawra's dad too, which was pretty cool. Ep 19 [spoiler] Pretty interesting flashback for Jiguro. It was more comedy than anything, but yeah fun stuff. I guess Kaneko and Yawara were similar in more ways than one. She looks a lot like her mom as well. It was funny how the people in the flashback look like people in the anime too. Yeah not a bad episode. |

Ep 20 [spoiler] Agreed, the intro of the 4 international competitors made this episode so much better than it should have been lol. Honestly I'm surprised they're already going international considering the length of this anime, we're barely even 1/5th of the way in. Yeah gotta love Jody reppin' my Canada though.
