Both are pretty shoujo series about humans and youkai.

The main female character has demon blood running through her reigns. Both Anime deal with being different from normal people and the designs are intricate.

I have a strong suspicion that Otome Youkai Zakuro was made to resemble Ouran. Both Tamaki and Agemaki come from a strict family, yet each are kindhearted. Haruhi and Zakuro are both strong, independent women who don't want to rely on others.

Both shows deal with half-demons that slay real demons. Both characters are on their own, but slowly build up a circle of friends. Both characters find love!

Relationship between humans and fox-like spirits and the comedic moments the ensue. Both are heartfelt animes and both have action to keep the pace going as well as funny dialogue and good supporting characters.

Both 12 episodes in length, Ookami-san and Otome Youkai Zakuro are colorful, visually appealing series that are simple to watch and not think too hard about. The main male character of each is easily frightened but will rise to the occasion when he needs to be brave, soon catching the attention of his respective spunky-yet-shy female lead. The comedic aspects of both shows rely on these distinct, somewhat cliched characterizations that nonetheless inspire chuckles. The cultural references that define them are also comparable; Ookami-san centers around fairy tales, while Otome Youkai Zakuro features Japanese spirits.

Both happen to have stories revolving around Japanese demons, half breeds and have very bright, crisp styles.

Both the series have swords and supernatural beings. The whole composition of the series is old Japanese period. It is recommended for people interested in core culture of Japan.

Both have the same atmosphere in regards to yōkai and the supernatural and are set during Japan's earlier stages of westernization. Both story talk of the co-existence between spirits and human beings, with the leads playing more of a mediator for both kinds. Whilst Zakuro has more of a romantic feel to its series, Tactics plays more into the mystery side of the supernatural with the main lead being a sleuth for "things that go bump in the night". Both are great tales of Japanese folklore and is a welcome treat for anyone tired of the usual school type series.

Similar to this anime, the male lead is a wuss while the female lead is a tsundere and knows how to deal with spirits.

Both Anime deal with youkai. Both have similar styles and similar tones to the plot lines.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
The male lead is blonde with no powers, whilst the female is the one with magic.

Both of these stories have a historical setting in that very interesting period where women wore modernized kimono and sometimes Western (Victorian!) fashions. Both heroines are equally plucky and independent, in love with a soldier. Zakuro's setting has more folklore and fantasy elements, but very similar vibes overall.

They both entail demons/youkais and humans understanding each other. They both are visually appealing and not to mention cute!

If you are looking for an anime which revolves around evil spirits and a group fighting to keep the peace, with the addition of funny romance scenes with tsundere characters, this is it.

First of all, both series are done by J.C. Staff. But that's not all...because they are also similar in terms of main character where despite their handsome appearances, their personality does not fit with the usual princely types. (Thank God for that) Additionally, the main girl is independent. Of course, there is also comedy, drama, and later romance blooms in both series.

A world in which humans exist with supernatural beings. Otome Youkai Zakuro and Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha. take place in a setting where such a co-existence becomes a reality. The main characters from both series has a diverse degree of personalities. There is a similar atmosphere dealing with the potential powers that our main character possesses. Throughout both series, there is a also budding romance developing between the male and female protagonist.

Otome Youkai Zakuro and Gingitsune takes on the supernatural trope with the main female character possessing the ability to see and interact with spirits. Both series' main female protagonist possesses similar personalities with their haughty behavior. However, they are able to get along well with their opinion when the situation calls for it. Although their settings are different, both series gives off a mystical vibe with supernatural lore.

Set in old fashioned worlds, non-human girls with supernatural abilities are partnered up with combatants to resolve incidents as their on screen relationship develops. Both have some romance and comedic relief but Machine Doll follows a steampunk theme while Zakuro is more spiritual.

This series has the same elements of shoujo style art, comedy and a storyline dealing with the spiritual realm.

Both are historical with supernatural elements, feature a strong female character, beautiful animation, a bit of romance, both have complex and intriguing villains. Definitely recommend :)
report Recommended by LeahMay
both about groups with supernatural powers that fight against other hidden forces to protect people that would other-wise despise them.

Spirit Girls who fight evil spirits, the main female characters have similar features, and they are both really powerful, and they are always protecting the main male, but the male doesnt want that, he wants to protect her

There is an agency working to promote relations between humans and spirits. The antagonist of both series are related to the protagonists in some way (spoiler, so I won't say). The teens in Yozakura Quartet are more powerful though.

The stories aren't terribly similar and Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran doesn't have romance, but for some reason, these two just remind me of each other. Both are really light-hearted, short series that aren't very plot-heavy, yet are still enjoyable.

If you like the character design of Mawaru Penguindrum, you will love the character designs in Otome Youkai Zakuro! They are both by the talented Lily Hoshino, who is the creator of Zakuro and the character designer for Pengruindrum. The end-art pieces for Penguindrum are all drawn by Hoshino-sensei. Otome Youkai Zakuro is also a great show with a wonderful romance and strong action!

Both anime have the similar feeling to it. Both stories are somehow connected to army. There is romance. Main heroine is somehow different from the others and has a tragic past.

both seem to have then same priniple. They are both based in an alternate reality of Japan. Both have girl with magical powers that do most of the fighting. The only different is Samurai Girls is feature alot of Echi where this doesn't
report Recommended by komic
They both have different types of spirits, although sometimes xxxHolic gets a little bit darker and psychological than Otome Yokai Zakuro. But both have plenty of humor!

Both of these Anime deal with half-demons, each with a different way of becoming demons. They also deal with spiritual powers with female characters. They also have detailed art, though more so with Otome Youkai Zakuro due to it being newer.

Both have cat eared girls who fight.

in both anime we see the collision of classic japanese & european cultures in the beginnin' of XX century, overcoming of barries of misunderstanding & cute romantic story
report Recommended by Oolenka
In some way Otome Yokai Zakuro reminded me of Saiunkoku both anime are about a dark-blue haired girl there are spirits and there's magic in both anime the characters from both anime wear kimono's

Both feature a young military officer sent to work alongside beautiful and strong women. Zakuro and Sakura also look similar, in dress and looks (although Sakura doesn't have cat ears). Otome Youkai Zakuro is more supernatural/folk-ish, whereas Sakura Taisen has some light mecha elements. Overall, though, if you liked one, you would probably enjoy the other.

> both are set in historical setting/times. > both are about half demons/humans fighting other demons/monsters. > both have good looking characters (aka bishies) and great animation. > both have good comedy with a slice of romance - Zaukuro has more romance as Hakkenden is borderline Bromance. > both main characters must find out about who they really are and their backgrounds. While Zakuro can be darker at times both and equally good. Also Zakuro follows a girl while Hakkenden follows a boy. If you like one though...then you'll like the other :3
