"I" died and was kicked out of the cycle of reincarnation because of the sin "I" committed. An angel told me that "I" won a lottery and he gave me a chance to remember the sin. My spirit possessed the body of the 14-year-old boy Makoto, who committed suicide and "I" tried to recollect my memory. "I" felt distressed by the terrible circumstances of Makoto and the fact that "I" was borrowing his body. "I" have started to realize that people are hurting each other because the world is too colorful to distinguish the true color of themselves from others.

Well, I'm reviewing shit cause I get bored excuse me language :3

Hm. Where do I start this anime. It was very emotion I found it kinda sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions at every direction. At first it seemed very interesting however when I got half way through I felt like giving up on it as the vibe wasn't very positive and the protagonist wasn't to my liking. However, for the hell of it I pulled through and carried on watching it. And I came to realise that it wasn't as bad as I thought it was to be honest. The ending surprised me read more

Let me get this straight, I'm not good at writing reviews so I apologize in advance if it's not good.
Anyways, Colorful is a really meaningful movie to me but if you're someone that's not patient don't watch it. There aren't a lot of talking and at the beginning you'll be like what's happening? Wed. Thurs. Fri.!! (If you understands what that mean. If you don't just look at the first letter of each word). It's really confusing until the end of the movie and tbh it did get on my nerves cause I had no clue what it's talking about until the last read more

Yet another glorious movie that left me thinking about life more seriously than I should be at my age. Words can't express how outstanding this story is.

The description would capture anyone with enough interest, I didn't care if I hated the story I wanted to know the answers to the synopsis - that's how much the storyline had me going. Luckily - there was 0 chance of me disliking this movie because it shed light on every doubt I never had.

MC is strong-minded and arrogant BUT this is not a problem! Don't get me wrong, we want MC to be this way - he read more

Death and the afterlife is a very controversial topic. The lack of knowledge of “what comes next ?” is terrifying; it changes the way people live, the way they act and how they feel. Whether an individual should have the right to end their life is just as controversial if not more. Colorful addresses all of these topics in its run time. (some more than others)

Story: 7/10
The story is about a soul/spirit who has committed a great sin. In order to continue the cycle of reincarnation it has been given a chance to redeem itself and avoid destruction. It will return to the human world read more

Anime: NHK ni Youkoso!
Both deal with issues of depression, fitting in and finding your place in society. It also deals with themes of moral ambiguity and how the search for happiness can lead to what to some would appear to be bad moral behavior.

They also both have good character development, writing and plot.

Anime: Haibane Renmei
Both revolve around rebirth and specifically spending your renewed life to discover and absolve yourself of past sin; a lot of imagery is shared as well, with the moments "I" comes back into life resembling very closely Rakka's cocoon dream.

Anime: Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.
Another heart-wrenching anime that deals with death and receiving a chance to redeem or complete something that you once were unable to. Colorful is much more slow paced than Ano Hana at the beginning and the character designs are fairly plain and "normal", taking the realistic approach. As the you continue to watch, the movie really draws you in like Ano Hana and sets up to be a real masterpiece in animation.

Anime: Death Parade
They both deal with death and the afterlife. Both have elevators that take the souls of people places. Both have suicide stories. But Colorful is way better and it's a movie not a series. Colorful also has better feels and I cri everytim. But yeah, they are similar and if you like Death Parade then you will like Colorful.

Anime: Angel Beats!
Both of these anime deals with death. The characters in these anime are given second chances to experience life again and accept life.

Anime: Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki
Both are wonderfully animated and are great slice of life/drama stories with supernatural twist. The main characters have to deal with loss and try to change themselves in order to move forward.
