Crazy girls "harem" for the main character, mystery and torture.
report Recommended by Fukurou
"I am here to protect you because we are destined to be together." And of course the main character is thinking along the lines, "What is up with this crazy chick?". Well, the hero and heroine go through a bunch of mysteries of sorts in order to survive, whether it be from a "game" or it be killers on the street.

Denpa teki na Kanojo and Kara no Kyoukai feel very similar in a couple of ways, the rainy and gloomy atmosphere for both, and the whole murder mystery deal. Hell, even the first time I took a glimpse at both of these shows I couldn't tell the difference between them. Both are equally good and you should enjoy the similarities between these great shows.

Murders that are conviniently placed right where the lead male can see them, a strange girl following him without making sense on why... if you like one then I'm sure you'll like the other. Denpateki is Chaos Head without the fantasy.
report Recommended by Spades-Deuce
In both anime, the main character meets a mysterious girl and the pair finds themselves in the middle of danger (in Another, a deadly curse - in Denpateki, a string of serial killings as well as a cult-like prankster group). The investigations build up similar atmospheres; though Denpateki is a bit more serious than Another, they both take a look into the psychology behind the characters and each has its fair share of death/gore/crazy people/plot twists. kara no kyokai and denpa teki na kanojo are actually 2 different 10/10 anime that are... perfect. they are both completely different stories yet their essences are also completely similar. In other words watching one and then the other will not be like watching the same thing but as if you are watching its ova.. kinda

Denpa Teki reminded me so much of Jigoku Shoujo, If you like seeing bad people having karma returned to them, this is it.
report Recommended by DawnYamada
Both have this weird intelligent girl with an average protag working together, with some side characters helping out. They solve some mysteries and chase some baddies. Both are very similar in the atmosphere and overall feeling in the show. It's not too intelligent, but has enough content to satisfy the viewer.

A girl who promises to do "whatever" for the main character. Same mysterious atmosphere...

Are you tired of sweet, cute, or fluffy romance? If so, then these two animes might help you out! Denpa-Teki na Kanojo does not emphasize on romance, but it definitely has a story that can keep you going for 2 episodes which lasts around 40 minutes. Bungaku Shoujo has more focus on romance which is summed up pretty well in 3 episodes. There are more in store for you. Here's a tablespoon of more darkness and twisted moments and characters for a unique taste.

Crazy girls harem for our hero. Both got industry-leading lengthy name. Not to mention that it's basically harem spiced with stuffs don't belong to romance, violence and aliens for example. The OVA one is full of girls who are, by all social definition, eastern or western, violent. All girls take the liking of the male lead, some want to get along, plenty want him dead. The Shaft-made one is sci-fi flavored love comedy. Girls are non-violent, but extra-strange nonetheless. Both fit for the you who are bored with common harem setting without blood and aliens, with Denpa Onna give you some makeshift sci-fi and Denpa Kanojo offer you  read more

Weird girlfriend with bangs. The boy and the girl also have a unique 'bond' that connects them.

Both are seinen murder mystery and suspense thrillers that have serious tone and don't mind showing gore. Both toy with issues of self-identity and involve solving a mystery to identify murderous stalkers.

Perhaps what is apparent in these two series is their unique take on the Mystery genre. Both series feature rather original storylines and well-developed characters. If you find one engrossing, I highly recommend you the other. Also note that Denpa teki na Kanojo performs some of the visual techniques and stylings that Shaft is known for (mainly the alteration of angles and scenery, as well as text interjections between sequences).

Both have an underlying sense of mystery and cover dark themes. Both have plot twists, although Denpa arguably has a more understandable plot. Both feature blood and gore, but are used appropriately in intense, realistic action scenes. The ending themes for both titles are also awesome!!

Mentally challenging girls harem, featuring breathtaking romance with large casualties. Loosely parodied role-playing genre games, most girls have their weapon of choice and battle to death for their prized boyfriend.
report Recommended by lapisdragon
A girl trying to investigate various apparently supernatural events and resolve it. There's even a similar scenario case where they were investigating about a crazy girl doing killings due to her obsessive belief with the supernatural being able to help her.
report Recommended by ZackTyce
In both series, there's a weird girl trying to befriend a seemingly normal guy but in reality everyone is a bit weird on the inside.

Surprised no one recommend this similar anime for a while except me. Both series have a weird mysterious strange girl being very infuriated with the male lead. Both series was about investigating some mysteries relating to murder or psychological crime. Both series delves into the psychological reasoning and motivations of people. Both series have a fair share of violence, death, crazy people and plot twists.
report Recommended by ZackTyce
Both shows have psychological themes and deal with serial killers.

Living with a rotten corpse in same room. Weird eccentric girls. Murder mysteries and crazy people, with those crazy looks. Have I mentioned flies and black hair with torn off scalp?
report Recommended by JuusanKitsune
It has a similar aspect to it in which the show delves into the psychological reasoning and motivations through character development throughout the story.
report Recommended by Cmurphy55
Both have a mystery at the core of the story and have a similar "inciting incident". They also notably contain a cast of very strange girls. Denpa has a darker tone than Haruhi.

great pieces of art like this, that not only tells a compelling story in 40 mins --- but brings awe in its animation and story direction.
report Recommended by boyoungsi
We got a harem with 'deep' themes and lots of common character types like tsundere, kuudere, and anything else you could ask for! The only difference is that Bunny Girl Senpai pleases the 'big brain' audience while Electromagnetic Girlfriend is for the 'mature' audience.

- Serious horror (is not gore or something like that to shock you) - Suspense - Mystery - Dark anime - Have couple - Similar vibe

Mystery & thriller genre, Both have characters that are similar to 1 male MC & many female characters, Denpa-teki na Kanojo takes a city setting & Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou takes a village setting. With similar vibes, the atmosphere changes from comfortable to dark, there are many murder mysteries & some incidents that may not show the truth.

both focus on edgy anti social loners being partnered up with an unusual girl and must solve a much bigger mystery than they intially thought it would be.

Interplay between Main Characters and Love Interests is similar. Both have Neo-Noir themes.

* Both share the same atmosphere and feeling * Both have very similar art and animation * Both are gory * Both have lots of death scenes * Both protagonists "almost" die at some points * Both have a weird girl with the protagonist

Denpa Teki na Kanojo has kind of the same vibes as Tasogare Otome. Both animes have male leads who unintentionally meet a strange girl and both reveal dark secrets that makes the stories so addictive.Tasogare has a little Ecchi in it which Denpa Teki hasn't. But nonetheless both animes have a Mystery theme. I won't say it's completely similar. But if you have watched Tasogare Otome then you may like Denpa Teki.

Both have a dark, mysterious thriller theme. In Denpa teki na kanojo, the main character and some other people searches for the killer. In Steins;Gate, a group of scientists researches about well... steins;Gate. Therefore, both of them includes some form of investigating. There are also no fantasy, magic, supernatural whatsoever elements in either of them too.
report Recommended by InvisibleMelody
the main similarities are: - Both thriller detective murder animes - the animes are focused heavily on the speciel/weird "love"relationship between the two main characters where they are working together. The two main characters is in the main focus where the murder/case is more of a catalyst to developing their relationship. Also the culprit is a crazy person in both :P

Both series contain mystery, drama and suspense. More than that is carried out by two school boys, who are involved in cases of crimes, which are always around them. They will solve those mysteries, as they will feel that they must, since they have been involved. One of the protagonists feels a certain attachment to the other, protecting him from everything, even though he is the most interested in these mysteries. Both with a supernatural air, showing us the worst that can reach the human being when he is on the verge of madness, only when wanting to do his purpose without to care the lives of  read more

Both heroines claim to be knights that will protect and serve the main protagonist. The main protagonist refuse to see the heroine as a servant. Also in Fate/stay night, the servant is actually a knight. Romance and drama in the air.

Durarara!! almost feels like the full series equivalent of Denpa teki na Kanojo's OVA. Both have a dark and mysterious, psychological thriller feel to them, with some school life, supernatural and suspense elements thrown in. Both are also based on light novels.
report Recommended by TehManyard
Both are extremely captivating murder mysteries, while Death note focuses on the supernatural Denpateki simply relies on the darkness found in all humans. The mystery in both is quite entertaining as well as well written. Also Ochibana resembles "L" in many ways and provides the same type of detective prowess that makes Death Note so great.

Just as Madoka is a dark twist on the Magical Girl trope, Denpa is for a various high school anime ones. Denpa itself is only two episodes long, and the animation quality is nowhere near Madoka's. However, Denpa uses a number of directing techniques and dark, grim backgrounds that perfectly convey the darkness of the show.

Same Director Here... They are very similar, but Enma has more supernatural elements...

both series involve tough outcast guys getting a girlfriend, although this one is a more light hearted and more of a comedy

The girls in both shows are batshit insane. If you have a things for girls with abnormal personality, and amount of loose screw in the head, check both show out, seriously. Denpa teki na kanojo, you know the drill, is a mystery anime with girls killing and dying. That's enough for you to guess what kind of girls will pop up in the show. If you are surprised by the girls in this show even when acknowledging its plot, then watch something beside Naruto and come back later. I recommend you googling 2 girls 1 cup though, for instant vaccine to this kind of characters. Danshi koukousei  read more

the same author, the same world setting, even share some characters, but this story which happens 7 years later than kure-nai has a quite different genre.it's also the maiden work of Katayama Kentarou.

Similar Horror/Mystery style with a small harem and yandere (although in interlude its sister love-crazy). The biggest difference is that Interlude dives into the paranormal side of things with zombies and ghostly demon dogs, while Denpa Teki merely touches on a fictional delusion of aliens. Overall, Denpa Teki was better (as of ep# 1 so far), but both are very enjoyable

Mystery lovers may try this. The main attraction is the interesting story in real life. Psychos alert. Both are not as gore as Ryukishi07's works but do contain some degree of violence. And all 3 have some degree of supernatural components
report Recommended by bottle
Both are from novel adaptation, being drama consisting of mystery and psychological components. The main difference is Denpa teki na Kanojo happens in modern world and less room for aftertaste.
report Recommended by bottle
Both these short OVA are about love (or a strong connection) that has been built up between characters in a past life. The main characters are now -in this life- confronted with those feelings and all that revolves around it, be it friendship or love. These aren't soppy love stories, though, for both series are also about murder and it's up to the main characters to solve these bloody twists of fate.
report Recommended by Mangetsu-san
Both have a delusional girl who follows around an older male. Denpa is much darker and more serious than Chuuni, but they are both very enjoyable.
report Recommended by olboyfloats
Yes, I know. Completely different atmosphere, feeling, and genre. But they both have a good, strong storyline with a good pacing throughout the whole anime. They are both really short, 5cm/s is a 3 episode movie while Denpa teki na kanojo is a 2 episode ova. Also, the setting and character development are realistic, meaning not too supernatural or magical.
report Recommended by InvisibleMelody
Similar Psychological, thriller Genre, with a mature underlying story.

Both main female character has high deductive skills & can think logically.Gosick focus at solving normal cases but Denpa cases were solved by the main character by analyze the perspective, the tendency of the criminal's behaviour and their mind.

Completely different genres however both are harems and have a girl who follows around the main character claiming to be their slave/servent.

Completely different genres however both are Psychological and Thriller. Colse atmosfere ant tipe of episods (structure), but the Shigofumi more easier Psychological.

Ignoring the setting, both Denpa Teki na Kanojo and Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom possesses a dark and serious theme. Both of them can be related to reality, meaning no supernatural, fantasy or magic elements and unbelievably abnormal character strengths and over exaggerated and plain personalities.
