Hyakuren no Haou to Seiyaku no Valkyria

This is seriously one of the most underrated anime of all time. I give it a 10/10, from beautiful art to a great and large cast all with personality despite only having 12 episodes, this is truly a hidden gem.

The story is isekai but unusual in that the main character did not die, when he is transported to the new world he is leaving behind people he cares about. Into a world of old technology and magic, he uses his knowledge of modern technology with internet searches to improve the society he lands in and ends up a benevolent dictator. This then leads to ... various wars with other nations.

The art throughout is truly incredible. By the end of the series I had my jaw drop from how good the scenes were, this is just truly an unexpected underrated anime. There are some parts that I personally didn't like but overall it was a great watch and the final episode is what raised my score to 10/10, it is very special.

I wish to see more series like this in the future, it was truly great.

A reminder that just because Crunchyroll tosses money into the development of a show doesn't mean that it's a good idea. The early stages of this anime were decent, maybe even good. But as the series progressed, it just seemed like an isekai show where they wanted to make a main character that was geeky and pure, but not making him interesting.

The biggest shortcoming of harem anime is character development. They rely on tropea for the male and female characters in order to quickly establish a foundation and get to the foundation. This show is a prime example of the problems with this approach. ... It results in an anime that is kind of boring.

That doesn't mean it's devoid of any good moments. Whenever they showcase the development of new technology, or new strategies in combat, it fascinated me. But those were few and far between, which meant that much of what you watch was filler.

This felt like it was a cheap creation meant to appeal to the more hardcore in the fanbase. Without an interesting world or characters, there really isn't much to consume here. Unless you're a diehard for the genre, or just an otaku in general, I'd steer clear of this one.

Probably one of the worst Isekai anime possible. First of all, here's the worst thing - You know how in many cases the anime has no real ending because the original manga / novel continues long after the anime ends? Well this is the first time I see it the other way around. This anime is from 2018 while the light novel began in 2013 and for some reason beyond my comprehension the anime doesn't start at the beginning of the story but a lot later. To be blunt, it's like they decided to skip the first season completely and begin with the second season. ... The result? You hardly know what's going on, and it's not like you can watch the show from the first episode because there is no first episode. There are quite a lot of references to past events that obviously happened only in the novel and to be frank, nothing in the anime makes me want to read any of it.
Even with no real beginning it seems like they tried to cramp too much into a single (second) season 12 episode anime - the pace is too fast leaving you wondering "what the hell just happened".
If anything, maybe it's an anime just for existing fans of the light novel but I hardly think it will encourage anyone to pick up the novel after watching this.
The art and sound are great though, which is the only good thing I have to say about this anime, unfortunately.
