The group needs to find a model to showcase their designs in an up-coming fashion show and decides to pick Yukari. Initially, Yukari is reluctant to be associated with this seemingly eccentric group, but eventually she realises they are really nice people. Furthermore, their passion and enthusiasm to follow their ideals and dreams make Yukari realise that she has not been enjoying her life and thus motivates her to pursue her own dreams. The story follows Yukari as she gets involved in the group and eventually falls in love with the leader, George.

Paradise Kiss is an anime aimed at the shoujo audience, but what sets this anime apart from all other shoujo anime is it's unique characterisation and atypical storyline.
Story - 9
Paradise Kiss is a short anime about how a young 18 year old girl's life is changed completely when a group of fashion design students kidnap her off the street to model their dress for a school fashion show. The main female protagonist falls in love with the main male protagonist and a love story is revealed. What sets this anime aside from the rest of the 'typical shoujo/romance' anime is that the relationship between the two are not as simple as it seems. The story itself has a realistic element to it making it more suitable for a mature audience rather than what the word shoujo literally implies.
Art - 10
Personally, i love Ai Yazawa's artwork, the setting was drawn realistically to compliment the whole aspect of a realistic life and story. I was surprised to see how everything was drawn perfectly, the anime itself felt like one from 2007/08 rather than 2005. The characters were perfect, nothing was really out of place, the males did not look over glamourous nor did the females look over pitiful. The whole urbanised setting gave the anime and overal fashionable and trendy feel to it. The only flaw i could notice was the characters looked odd when they were far away but when they were close up, every detail could be shown.
Sound - 9
The OP and ED were catchy songs and suited the anime well, it created a funky feel to the anime and the way the opening was brought in for each episode really made the song a part of the anime rather than your general opening you have for every anime. The anime lacked BGM at times, but for this anime, having less of it was much more suitable.
Character - 10
The characters were definately one of this anime's strong points, almost the whole story revolves around the basis of clashing characters working together and becoming friends (or more than friends even). It also shows how one person can change another's outlook on life and their personality. Ai Yazawa is successful in showing how Yukari's whole life changes in a very short amount of time purely by making friends with the "bad crowd" and realising her ambitions.
Enjoyment - 9
If you've watched NANA, then Paradise Kiss doesn't stray too far from the basic concepts in NANA. The whole mature, real life drama is what makes Paradise Kiss enjoyable. If you're looking for a short, sweet, drama-filled, not-your-typical-shoujo anime then i'd highly recommend you give Paradise Kiss a try. read more

Looking for a quick 12 episode show to watch? Paradise Kiss is just for you. Sure, it's a little more for the "Shojo" audience, but it has plenty of stuff to keep any guy entertained. So, what'd I think about it?
Story
Meet Caroline, the girl who doesn't really know what she's doing with her life. She happens upon a group of college students that need her to be their fashion model. Interesting premise, and doesn't sound too farfetched from what might happen in real life. Good ending that actually makes some sense too.
Art
A little funny looking at times, but the art is definitely nice. Sexy looking females. Thumbs up from me.
Sound
Awesome opening (freakin' awesome) and great ending theme (U.S. band). Can't see how you wouldn't like the music throughout the anime.
Character
Caroline x George are definitely my favorite characters. Great personalities from each of them and the story really makes you understand why they are the way they are.
Enjoyment
Enjoyable, quick, and happy. 12 episodes of some laughter and some teary scenes.
Basically, you can't go wrong with this anime. If you're into romance (not some angst crap though), and you like non-stupid anime, check this out. read more

Ok, first the art of Nana and ParaKiss is very similar. Second, the plots revolve around people in showbiz (fashion - music). Third, love, sex and making one's way in life are told in a mature way...means more realistic, minus the teen angst...plus drama.
Nana and Paradise Kiss are similar in that they're both done by the same producers. This leads both shows to have a similar "drama" appeal. You're not quite sure what will happen to all the characters, even all the way up to the last couple minutes of the last episode. Both are directed toward more of the "girl" market, but they're entertaining enough for any type of drama/romance fan.
both mangas were written by the same author so the style of drawing is the same. Also the themes, young love, angst, rebellion, etc are present in both animes.
Both animes are very visually appealing, and the characters in both series are very trendy and have that cool-coffee house aura. It also has similar romantic themes. Enjoy!
Besides being from the same genuis author, both revolve around one thing. For Nana it was music and for ParaKiss it is fashion. Both have realistic and interesting characters, realtionships, friendships, and drama. Plus both animes end in a place where you didnt expect them to. TIAYWBH! (Try It And You Will Be Hooked):)
Well, aside from having been made by the same mangaka, I loved both Nana and ParaKiss. If you're into serious drama about love life, you must watch them!
They're done by the same artist as Paradise Kiss and has an amazing plot that had me crying...
Done by the same mangaka, Ai Yazawa, both works highlight fashion and the lifestyle of a select group of artistes, whether of the fashion world or the underground punk scene. The stories, starting out as simple and uncomplicated, soon branch out to explore the separate lives of other characters. While ParaKiss is a little more abbreviated than NANA, both have strong elements of soap opera in them. ParaKiss is actually the earlier work of the two but the art style of Ai Yazawa is echoed to some extent in NANA, featuring skinny characters with a strong sense of style.
Written by Ai Yazawa and both showcases creative fashion statements.
Wonderful shoujo by Mad House
Both series were created by the awesome Ai Yazawa. The story premises are similar except NANA is about music and ParaKiss is about fashion. What could be better? Both titles are a piece of Shōjo heaven.
It's more or less the same but its more NANA is more focused on music whereas Paradise Kiss is focused on fashion.
But they are both GREAT!
written by the same perso both stories are about love. Both are sad and have original story lines while nana deals with music paradise kiss is about fashion and modeling, both are really good and similar in drawing style.
Ai Yazawa - nothing more to say.
Similar characters not so much in story but you will definitley LOVE this show if uve seen either of them, and im pretty sure it was made by the same person that made nana.
its not a long show but trust me youll wish it was when its all over.
Like Nana, it's by Yazawa Ai. So, the type of story is very similar, a lot of drama and romance.
They are both made by Ai Yazawa.
The art for the two shows were originally done by the same person. Both are very realistic, and dramatic. There is romance, (more in NANA, but then again it's a longer anime), and characters discovering who they truly are. Be prepared for tears, or at least deep feelings, in both. (More in NANA, once again, it's longer)
Both are by Mad House and adapdated from the manga by Ai Yazawa.
In both you’ll find romance, drama, and a group of friends with all their relationships, problems, and background stories.
Both have very pretty and detailed art, unique characters, and a good OST.
Parakiss is shorter, less romantic, and more sexual than Nana, and the latter is more dramatic, touching, and moving, but both are mature, enjoyable, and well-made.
Nana focuses on music and Parakiss on fashion, anyway if you loved one you’ll like the other as well.

They have the same feel, animation, and general story line. While Beck seems to appeal more to the Male audience, Paradise Kiss seems to be more towards the Female aspect
They have a very similar direction, dialogues, & general feeling to them (in fact they're both produced by Mad House, and they have the same director, Osamu Kobayashi).
In both the protagonist wants to change his/her life, grow up, and mature.
Beck focuses on music and is male-oriented, while ParaKiss is a Josei series and revolves around fashion (but music is also present, thanks to Arashi).
