Almost the exact same storyline. The only main difference is one is about becoming Idols and another is figure skating.

Both shows are about cute young girls who start from the bottom of the idol world and try to climb their way up. There are some similar archetypes such as the main characters have never practiced before but have some talent at being idols, and both shows have an elegant and mysterious popular idol that the newcomers are aiming to reach.

Both are about girls trying to become idols. Both also have similar animation during the dance scenes.

The main characters in Aikatsu and AKB0048 happen to have spunky, cheerful personalities. A friend happens to introduce them to the world of idols and they start on their own journey to become an idol, growing as a person as they do. The styles are different, but the outfits in both series are designed in a nice manner. One of the great things is that both shows vary from the idol genre in ways one wouldn't expect, one being also of the card game genre and the other a sci-fi. The music for both series is also beautiful and the wide cast of characters means  read more

Both Anime have a cute style with bright colors with cheerful main characters who set out to fulfill their dreams of becoming idols. The girls also struggle to over come the problems they have to deal with to become an idol.

Aikatsu is pretty much Uta no Princess Sama. Why? Because both anime take place in idol training school, and they are boarding schools. They also have a character who is interested in a music star. They also have characters who are music stars. Just flip the gender and they are exactly alike! So if you like Aikatsu, you will love Uta no Prince Sama!

In addition to both shows featuring singing/dancing as prominent plot points, the main three girls give off a similar "feel". The casts of both are also really charismatic - while the plot in both shows isn't great, it's fun just to hang out with these girls and see the scrapes they get into. Recommended for anybody who wants a sweet, simple good time, though Mermaid Melody has far more romantic/ecchi overtones.

Star-Mu is the male version of Aikatsu!, I swear. The five main characters of High School Star Musical are even akin to ones in Aikatsu! Aikatsu! was written for a younger audience, but is still a wonderful show about teamwork and making friends, pursuing a dream, improving oneself, and aiming to be the best! It's very fun and the characters are super lovable, though it may get a bit boring after a while (a long while though X) ), since it is for a younger audience (I would say more elementary or middle school age). Main character from Star-Mu, Hoshiya Yuta, is very alike Aikatsu!'s star,  read more

I want to recommend to watch these 2 shows together, not because they are so similar, but because of the differences. Of course, there are some similarities. Both titles are mostly episodic, and the episodes themselves often follow a similar pattern: First, a little story that centers around one of the characters, then a concert (Aikatsu) or a fight (Tiger Mask). But then, there are the differences: In Aikatsu, the cast consists of girls with good intentions which make a career as idols. They compete with fair means, and even the rivals are friends. There are no bad guys, barely anyone gets hurt, and almost every episode  read more

Similarities: - Focuses on the friendships between characters - Aimed at young girls - Optimistic tone - Colorful and cute art - Flashy outfit transformations every episode Uniquenesses: - Smile Precure has clear-cut villains, while Aikatsu has, at the most, friendly rivals - Aikatsu, being an idol show, focuses much more on music than Smile Precure

They both are about school. Aikatsu is about school girls and Ouran is about school guys. They both have beautiful special effects. And they both have a beautiful character. So if you like Ouran, you should watch Aikatsu, if you like Aikatsu, you should watch Ouran!

They both have singing and dancing. PRRL is about doing figure skating and prism jumps while Aikatsu is about becoming an idol and passing auditions.

Both are extremely uplifting and happy shows with an MC who has a positive influence on everyone around her. About as lighthearted and wholesome as you can get.

If you're looking for a group of strong willed, diverse young girls who perform together using their various skills and talents - Aikatsu and AHCF have got you covered. While the themes and motivations are different - the Aikatsu girls aim to be top idols for both themselves and their fans, while the AHCF girls put on magical-girl styled live plays to save their town - they both focus far more on the hard work, team building, friendships, and hardships behind the scenes than on the actual performances. There's got girl power, friendship, and cool costumes aplenty!

Aikatsu and K-On both involve music and school life. They both have a group of female characters who want to achieve their dreams/goals.

Although in different genres - Fresh being a magical girl and Aikatsu an idol - each of these series boasts fun dancing, life lessons, cute girls doing cute things, and fantastic friendships! You'll cheer on the protagonists of both teams, be it to defeat evil or win an audition.

i recommend this strongly, the prootaganist in Full Moon has a tumor in her throat, but that didn't stop her from reaching her dream. she was able to become a singer even though she knew she will die sooner or later....

MC with tons of potential is introduced to the stunning world of Aikatsu/Prism Shows and joins a school specifically for instruction in that and makes a big splash in the idol world.

Cute, light-hearted fun devoid of the usual otaku pandering common in anime today. The characters are treated with respect and are not rampantly sexualised. You will not enjoy either of these if you want the complex or the serious, but if you can enjoy a girl's show, they are two of the very best.

Selector and Aikatsu are both of the card game genre. Unlike most series of the card game genre these Anime are aimed at a female audience instead of a male audience. Both of the main characters have a friendly, outgoing personality. Both of them also don't know about the “world” the other characters are involved in, the difference being that one character ends up having a lot of negative things happen to her and her friends, while the other character ends up with a lot of good things. Both like taking things on their own shoulders as well. Despite the fact the styles are different,  read more

Both are cute series aimed at girls. Both have female leads, Ichigo in Aikatsu and Hikari in Hikari, who try to develop their skills in their chosen fields. For Aikatsu, that field is being an idol, and for Hikari, that field is rhythmic gymnastics. Ichigo and Hikari are shown to fail several times, or make mistakes, but they continue trying to improve regardless. Both series also have their own rival character that helps drive the protagonist forwards to improve. For Aikatsu, that rival is Mizuki, and for Hikari, the rival is Hazuki. Both series even feature subplots about male characters who are involved in their  read more

Both of these anime deal with music and a hint of romance. In Aikatsu, the protaganist is a bit too dense; however, in La Corda all five men fall for one woman!! <3

These two anime: -show that they have a goal of becoming a top idol. -have someone they look up to/rival. -both have protagonists who try their best no matter what conditions. Skip beat deals with a large range of things including music. Aikatsu is more entertaining and full of music, dances, etc... I doubt that you will not love this!

Both these anime inspire me to try my best!

They are A LOT alike. The difference might be that Pretty Rhythm is about ice-skating and Aikatsu about idols. Both are entartaining and the type of 'happy-go-lucky' girl story.

Thought the premise couldn't be more diferent, both series has that power to pop up a smile in your face no matter how bad your day is going. Also, neither of them strikes you in the very first episode; you need to watch 2 or 3 in order to fall in love with the series
