SynopsisFolks, meet Takashi Kamiyama. Enrolled at Cromartie High, where everybody is a delinquent, Kamiyama is apparently the only non-delinquent in the school. Logically, therefore, he must be the toughest in his class - by the rather twisted logic that only a really tough rabbit would lie down with lions. Thus begins a story that parodies every cliché of tough-guy anime that you've ever heard of, and some you haven't. Oh, and Freddie Mercury is in it, too.

First of all this has to be said : Cromartie High School is the best damn comedic anime EVER made. It's pure genius, the deadpan jokes, the real world character personalities, everything!
Story: Well like the synopsis says, Cromartie is mainly about Takashi Kamiyama, an intelligent young man enrolled in a high school full of bad-asses, but he's seen as the most bad ass guy in his class because he doesn't resemble everyone else. Other than that there is no main storyline sort of "Seinfield"-ish but full of HILARIOUS situations and parodies.
Art: The artwork is really rough, the character's have sketch lines making them look older and tough so it plays a major part in the anime's comedy.
Sound: The musical scores don't play a large part in Cromartie, but a certain characters' entrance music makes up for it.
Character: A few of the characters enrolled at Cromartie High are a Freddy Mercury clone, a semi-intelligent gorilla (Yes, a Gorilla), and a A.I Robot that doesn't realize that he's a robot along with everyone else in the series besides the main character and a a few others.
Enjoyment: 100% enjoyable. This anime gets more hilarious the more episodes you watch. I just wish the episodes were longer than 12 minutes. But maybe that's what makes this anime hilarious, how so much can be squeezed in that time frame.
Overall: Cromartie gets 10's across the board from me. there's no other way to put it, you definitely need to see it for yourself. read more

In a word? HILARIOUS.
Each episode is only, like, 12 minutes long... and the whole series is incredibly worth it... if you've ever seen anything that has a "delinquent" in it (i.e. anyone with a hairstyle like John Travolta in Grease ;) ) or even if you haven't... this was just so surprisingly funny that it became almost an instant favorite.
...Am I hyping it up too much?
The first episode, I kind of chuckled/smiled a few times... and then as the series goes on, I found myself just dying of laughter. It's incredibly clever and witty...
The show follows a bunch of hoodlums in their and their ...non-traditional concerns. One badass boss has severe problems with motion sickness, another is a comedy snob, and well... one's a robot. It's wacky in the best way -- a little light on plot but heavy on the funny. It kind of reminds me of The Tick (the animated series, not the live action) in the way that it's kind of campy and over the top and oh-so-original.
The show does such a good job of turning the typical delinquent devices on their heads. It starts off like something that seems familiar... something that feels normal for the genre... and all of a sudden it's like you're in bizarro-land and this hilarious joke comes out of nowhere. And it's even more surprising and even funnier because you know they knew you were expecting the generic follow-through and they gave you a spoonful of crazy instead. (Does that make sense?) ...It's like watching a pitcher in baseball go through a windup, but at the very last second, instead of pitching the ball to you, his feet turn into ducks.
It's like that... only funny. ;) Really, really funny. read more

Very similar fast paced and random style of humor. Both have short episode lengths and are easy and fun to watch
Similar comedy style and length, bursts of hilarious moments throughout each episode of each series.
Both series have a similar kind of random, quirky, unconventional humour, a similar aesthetic style, character who are supposed to be rough and tough but really aren't (a death metal band who've done nothing to deserve their infamy, the world's most well-behaved delinquents), and short episodes to boot.
Similar style and type of humour, even though DMC is more fast paced and has less original content (ie. ammount of jokes)
As you wacth one, you will remember the other. The humor on both is so similar. You will catch your self laughing out loud with DMC if you lol'd with Cormartie, and vice-versa. I would'nt say that they both have equal art style, but surely, they both distinguish from generic look.

Both are senseless comedy with little logic or plot, that leave you thinking "Wait.. What?"
Excel Saga has more of a hyperactive feel to it, though.
Ah, mad comedy
Endless parodies in jest
Make me giggle hard
