It's really fucked. I mean, I knew that he was struggling with cancer on-and-off for about 3 years now, so I was not surprised that he wouldn't live for a long time, but still. It's already a bit strange to see some celebrities from my childhood passing away (certain actors, videogame developers, and musicians), but my favorite artist passing away is a completely different feeling. I've had it before a few years back when the rapper MF DOOM died unexpectedly.

I'm not super emotional about it or anything, but listening to his music now gives it a completely different feeling. Earlier this year one of the other YMO group members passed away, and it is weird to think that it might not be long before the entire group is no longer alive. Anyways, I think times like these are always good to celebrate their lives and the music they created rather than sulk about it. In the past two days I have found a lot of previous material from Sakamoto that I never actually discovered before, so I guess that's a good thing.

Look at this for example, I never knew he was hired to create the Microsoft explorer 4.0 soundtrack of all damn things, lol.
