Pinto is a Tokyo Ghoul OVA about the character known as: 'The Gourmet'. It's about how he met a human girl who he befriended instead of ate. Since the gourmet appears a lot in the first season you can watch this after the first season of Tokyo Ghoul but watching it after the second season makes just as much sense.
Honestly with the story being about the gourmet, arguably one of the most messed up characters in Tokyo Ghoul, I didn't have high hopes for the OVA. Yet while the story wasn't amazing, it also wasn't bad and I do think it's nice that you can
...
see how the gourmet's character naturally evolved from how he acted in the past. The story itself isn't too impressive but the dialogue between the two characters can be amusing.
The characters were acceptable. The gourmet wasn't as crazy as we've seen him in the main anime and he frequently gets shut down by the girl's silly behaviour. I kind of wish she was with him in the main anime because she's able to provide some kind of counterweight.
The animation, voice acting and music are comparable or the same as the main anime.
Overall this can be worth watching if you like tokyo ghoul and would like to know more about the gourmet. The story is a bit disturbing but such is tokyo ghoul.

This is a nice 30 minute OVA about a part of the childhood of Arima, one of the best Special Investigators in Tokyo Ghoul. Arima only appears in a few scenes in the first season of Tokyo Ghoul and in the last episodes of the second season. Considering how little he appears in the first season I'd argue that you should watch this after the second season since then you will actually know who the guy is.
The story takes place while Arima is still in school; at this time he is already working for the CCG. In the story Arima ends up working together with
...
a classmate who encountered ghouls and using the information that they get from another classmate they take down a dozen ghouls before they finally encounter a ghoul named Lantern who has been terrorizing the district. It's a nice story and it provides insight into the past of a character that could be important in the future.
The characters are relatively simple which makes sense since the OVA is only 30 minutes. Their personalities are very clear though and you can follow their train of thought.
The animation, voice acting and sound were all similar to or the same as in the main anime, so okay overall. There's still CGI for cars and such while the sound is still great.
Overall this is a nice OVA to watch if you like Tokyo Ghoul. It's a pretty okay story that is mostly self-contained and also gives you more information about the characters in the main anime.

The second season of Tokyo Ghoul is a direct continuation of the first season in the same style. You could combine the first and second seasons into a single 24 episode season and no one would bat an eye.
The story continues where the first season left off and takes a pretty weird turn with Kaneki joining the group that abducted him instead of remaining with Anteiku. Even though this seems silly, it is explainable by his mindset after being tortured. After this turn quite a bit happens in the story and you gradually learn more about the people and organisations involved in the story.
...
The motivations and goals of Aogiri Tree, however, remain unclear which is weird considering they play a pretty important role.
The characters are mostly the same as in the first season with a few additions/subtractions. I don't like the gourmet and wish he didn't exist but overall the characters seem reasonable enough.
The animation was the same as in the first season. Sometimes it looks great, sometimes it looks just okay and sometimes you have CGI crowds and cars. The animation can be a bit gory but it's nothing compared to the torture of the first season. The voice acting was okay and the overall sound design was great with nice sound effects and background music.
Overall if you liked the first season then you'll probably like this season as well if you can stomach Kaneki making an eyebrow raising decision in the first episode.

Tokyo Ghoul is an anime about ghouls in Tokyo and has to be one of the most accurate titles of all time. I don't believe I've heard the situation in any other part of the country mentioned even once and the story is constantly about ghouls.
Ghouls are creatures that look like humans who can only derive nutrition from eating humans, whose skin is is impenetrable by sharp objects and who have supernatural regeneration and tentacle-like weapons that they use to fight people and other ghouls. The story is about how ghouls interact with Tokyo's society. Will they slaughter as many people as they please
...
or will they attempt to find more peaceful alternatives? And how do the normal people living in Tokyo respond to them? It's a somewhat interesting premise and can make for a neat story to watch. Personally I don't think there's enough worldbuilding, we're not told how ghouls came to be and no reason is ever given for why they can only properly digest humans. This lack of worldbuilding is only made worse by the fact that the world outside Tokyo never gets mentioned so you have no clue what state the world is in.
The characters seem acceptable. There's some clearly insane characters but most of their behaviour is adequately explained by their backstories.
Most of the animation is okay. There's frequent use of CGI, mainly for crowds and such. The fights and weapons that are used do look quite cool. The animation, because of the topic of the story, can get quite gory. Especially is some of the later episodes there's torture scenes which are really unpleasant to watch. Normally some gore is understandable but in the case of this anime you should really consider whether you're okay with the idea of watching someone lose their toes over and over again because they keep regenerating.
The voice acting is fine and the sound design is great.
Overall I can't recommend this to everyone because the torture scenes can genuinely be disturbing. The story isn't top notch but the premise is interesting enough that is can be a fun story to watch.

Howl's Moving Castle seems like an impressive movie but it's also quite abstract. Even though I paid pretty close attention while watching the movie some parts of the story were still unclear.
The story is about a girl in a nation at war getting turned into an old woman because of a spell cast by a witch. After this she leaves the city and enters howl's moving castle where the rest of the story plays out. Even though she probably wants to get rid of the curse, parts of the story are unclear and I do not understand why some things work the way they
...
did. The positive part of the ending also seems like just a deus ex machina. Despite all of these things, it's still a cool story to watch with a distinct atmosphere.
The characters are good but can be very hard to properly understand at times. I did not understand the motivations of some of the characters until a friend sent me links to detailed analysis after watching the movie. Some of the inferences made in the analysis are very subtle and feel like they're impossible to notice if they're just on screen for two seconds, without context, before you even learn of the events that they're relevant to but they do explain the personalities and motivations of the characters very well. So for this movie I would recommend watching it and afterwards looking at an analysis to better understand what you actually watched.
The animation is almost 20 years old at this point. It doesn't look as pretty as some of the more modern animation but it's detailed and coherent and works well for the movie. The voice acting sounded a bit weird initially but it sounded fine after a few minutes. The music was great.
Overall this is an abstract and somewhat complex movie that I don't believe you're supposed to understand by just watching it once. I do recommend the movie since it's good but I also recommend reading some analysis afterwards since it's more fun when you actually understand what you watched.

Mob psycho 300 has a somewhat weird structure but is an overall good final season.
The story continues where the previous season (and OVA) left off. It starts out with three relatively random episodes followed by three episodes on the psycho helmet religion. Then there's two episodes dedicated mostly to the telepathy club and tome followed by 4 episodes dedicated to mob and the conclusion to this anime. These last four episodes are a great ending to the anime and it's fun to watch. My personal problem with this final season is how the ending is initiated because even though the ending is good, how
...
the ending comes to be doesn't make sense or just seems lazy but not everyone seems to mind this so you might not care either.
The characters are still great. I am once again surprised by how many old characters/side characters the anime manages to include in this season and it's a nice touch. There's great character building and development, just like in the last two seasons; especially in the case of mob you really start to see just how much he has grown.
The animation is good and similar to the previous seasons. The voice acting and music are good too.
Overall this is a great final season with a great ending. It has a somewhat weird episode structure and the way the ending is initiated doesn't make sense but even with these things it's most definitely worth watching.

This OVA of Mob Psycho 100 is basically just episode 14 of season two.
The story is a direct continuation and appears to happen only days after where the second season left off. It follows the standard format where Reigen accepts a job and then has Mob help him exorcise the spirits. This time the story takes place at a hot spring and they brought some more people along. The main focus of the story in this episode seems to be Mob and friends just having a good time.
The Main characters are Reigen, Mob, Mob's little brother, Hanazawa and Serizawa and aside from Reigen
...
they mostly just have a fun trip.
The animation sound and voice acting are all comparable to the second season.
Overall this is an extra episode and there's no real reason not to watch it if you enjoyed the anime so far.

The second season of Mob Psycho 100, while noticeably more serious than the first season, is still able to maintain its comedy and appeal and is an overall great second season.
The characters are still one of the best parts of Mob psycho. Lots of characters, even side characters that you'd assume were unimportant when they were first introduced, return in the second season. The cool part about this is that it's not only the main characters that get character development, even most of the side characters appear to have changed in some way when they appear again. The main characters are obviously more important
...
though and particularly Mob and Reigen go through a lot in this season.
The story follows the climax of the first season with a few calmer episodes focussed more on character growth before switching to another conflict. Because of the more serious character development early on and more action later on, there is noticeably less comedy in this season. The story is still fun to watch though and I'm glad I now know why there was broccoli in the openings of the first and second seasons.
The animation is still in Mob's signature silly style but it does have some surprisingly great looking animation when it wants to and the fights look great and dynamic. The voice acting and music were good.
Overall this is a good second season and it's likely that if you liked the first season, you'll enjoy this one too.

This is a neat series of 12 chibi comedy shorts with the topic of each short being a silly spell that Fern or Frieren found.
The comedy in the shorts is good enough and it's nice that there's consistency in the form of having a new spell every episode. Most of the spells aren't mentioned in the main anime but some of them are. The fifth episode features some sort of sauce as an advertisement, probably due to a cooperation between Frieren and the sauce manufacturer.
The characters are Frieren's old and new party. The chibi animation is pretty cute but obviously doesn't look as
...
good as the main anime. The voice acting is good and the background music is unimpressive.
Overall this is worth watching if you like Frieren and if the concept of comedy shorts about random spells sounds fun to you but it might not be for everyone due to the chibi animation.

Mob Psycho Mini is a special consisting of six short episodes, each with three comedy skits animated using pixel art.
The comedy skits are quite good as far as short comedy skits go. They are about events and characters from the main anime and they explore these characters and events from a different angle which means the skits actually add something to the anime.
The characters are characters from the main anime but there are quite a lot of skits about the side-characters instead of the most important characters in the story which is nice.
The animation is pixel art and looked quite neat. I'd
...
argue it's better than the chibi animations that are often used for these kinds of specials. The problem with the pixel art however is that oftentimes there isn't a lot happening on screen aside from a few pixels moving and some scenes aren't too clear. The voice acting was the same as in the main anime.
Overall I'd say this is worth watching if you really really like mob psycho 100 and its characters since the skits do add a tiny bit to the story/characters. However, this tiny bit isn't enough to justify watching it if you just enjoyed the main anime but didn't care *that* much about the characters.
