Manga with characters that are canonically/heavily implied to be mentally ill and also treated like real humans rather than freaks or villains. Each manga has at least one character in the main cast who is neurodivergent.

This stack is for any neurodivergent manga fan to try and find something they can relate to without feeling like they're a bad person ^_^
Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu.
Manga, ? vol, 2016 Me:- Author:8
Comedy Slice of life manga about a girl trying to make 100 friends. The main character, Komi, is somebody who struggles with extreme social anxiety.
Shimeji Simulation
Manga, 5 vol, 2019 Me:- Author:10
Surreal comedy 4koma about two girls with silly things on their heads. The main character, Shijima, has two shimeji mushrooms pop up on her head. In animanga, a character grows mushrooms on their head when they are sad/depressed as a sort of visual effect. The mushrooms on shijimas head are a representation of her depression after locking herself in her bedroom for the past two years.
Asper Kanojo
Manga, 12 vol, 2018 Me:- Author:10
Romance manga about a couple struggling with mental illness. Both protagonists are neurodivergent; Megumi suffers from aspergers, and Yokoi is shown to have struggled socially too, hinting that both are in fact on the autism spectrum.
Freesia
Manga, 12 vol, 2001 Me:- Author:9
Psychological action manga about a government agency tasked with enacting the "Vengeance Act". The main character Kano struggles with hallucinations which affect him and his work, becoming a key point in the narrative.
Berserk
Manga, ? vol, 1989 Me:- Author:9
Berserk is not something that needs to be introduced. Guts struggles with PTSD and depression during this manga, and must come to terms with his past and the things that have happened to people he loved.
Oyasumi Punpun
Manga, 13 vol, 2007 Me:- Author:8
Like Berserk, Punpun is something that also requires little introduction. Punpun as a character struggles with mental illness through his life in a melancholy coming of age story.
Tokyo Kaido
Manga, 3 vol, 2008 Me:- Author:8
Tokyo Kaido takes place in a mental ward full of... you guessed it. Mental patients. Each patient struggles with a different issue, and seeing the characters interact with one another and go about their daily lives is very interesting, and the representation there is amazing.
Sabishisugite Lesbian Fuuzoku ni Ikimashita Report
Manga, 1 vol, 2016 Me:- Author:9
An autobiographical manga about a woman coming to terms with her sexual orientation and the world around her. The writer tells us of her struggles with depression, self harm, eating disorders and anxiety in a nice and relatable story about coming to terms with one's identity.
Dansei Kyoufushou Datta Watashi ga AV Joyuu ni Naru made no Hanashi
Manga, ? vol, 2019 Me:- Author:9
A very dark autobiographical manga about a woman's traumatic childhood and extreme fear of men. The writer talks about her trauma with some beautifully drawn imagery. This is a more niche example of mental illness, and I think this is one of the few manga here I'd advise a content warning on due to the nature of this manga.
