This list hosts anime series known among fans for containing female characters with very striking & memorable amount of depth or nuance. This can include strong character development be that if its regressive or positive. But realistic portrayal of human nature & accurate depictions of psychology is a requirement.

(This list is subject for updates) Suggestions are very welcome If you feel there's a series/film that should be added or removed leave a comment or message letting me know why.

Teenage girls at their most base form. An age of being Hypercritical of social status can led to raw dehumanization & bullying of others. Describing girls as catty is an understatement to how unfairly emotionally & mentally manipulative school girls can be. No single character is perfect in this series not even our kindhearted & virtuous nanako.

Nina is a no good woman up on till the very end. But i like how realistically depressed she's gets despite her direction in the end being really bizarre & a little wacky. Rewatching 0083 i get the feeling she's not meant to be likeable ether. Maybe her character is mainly for eye-candy for the older demographic. Nina purpleton just sucks, she's the most bland & boring woman in all of gundam & ultimately when worst comes to shove she falls apart at the seams. She's realistic in that regard because i can imagine that kind of woman in RL. What she does at the end on top of that is still questionable & mind-bottling after all these years. Some call it bad writing even if it was wholly intentional from the staff. Anno calls all of 0083 forced drama. Cima is the most interesting & most down trodden character of the entire cast tho. Gato is just boring as a morally grey villain making her the better antagonist overall in 0083. Cima got her own spin-off ova after all instead of him, Speaks volumes of her fanfare. Gato is still pretty popular in his own right as well but he's no cima. She's quite a nuance character. She's not evil but very sick of being taken advantage of by both sides of the war. The female cast are not the most complex in gundam let alone in mecha but they are very based, flawed & feel human.
