A story element that exists or existed in Real Life but is assumed to be fictional by the audience, often because it seems too unlikely, bizarre, or kitschy to be real. Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction...

Iron Arm and one of Miura's most successful ideas, a sort of forerunner of modern prosthetics and even more functional than the latter, which contributes to making the character even more men from a physical point of view. Many have thought that he was inspired by Bruce Campbell in the film Army of Darkness, but in reality that film was produced only on the mind. The inspiration for his main character, even if never admitted by Miura, comes true Historical figures Gotz von berlichen: a German mercenary who had his arm amputated after being hit by a cannonball, but who continued to practice his profession for another forty years thanks to decidedly cutting-edge Prosthesis. and the Prince Pier Gerlofs Donia, pier Gerlofs Donia, who lived in the same area in what is now Frisia/Oland on January 29, 1515, the troops of Landsknechts hired by George the Bearded, Duke of Saxony, laid waste to the entire region. One of these groups, the Black Band, in addition to destroying the village and properties of Pier Gerlofs Donia, violated and killed his wife, the event triggered a "berserk" rage in the knight, thanks to which he was able to take up a huge two-handed sword with his sword and take revenge, killing the executioners of his family

The series includes loads of these. To name a few, several European/Asian dialects are used (from Russian to Romanian), quite a few old movie references are made ("This looks like a remake of the movie "The Last Command") as well as several obscure gun comments ("I mean he's Jewish, right? Of course he'd have an Israeli-made gun!"). References to various philosophers and their view on consequence ethics, like Kierkegaard and Sartre, are made by several of the characters.

° Hyuga debuting on Juventus wearing a number "1+8" (one plus eight) jersey may also seem outlandish, but it is based on Chilean superstar Iván Zamorano, who wore the number 9 shirt at Internazionale before Ronaldo, another wold-famous number 9, joined the team. This was done in order to let both players be the number 9 on the teamnote.
° Interestingly enough, the situation in the manga is reversed in which it's the newcomer that takes the amended numbering while the correct number is kept by the team veteran (in this case, Inzars).
