To me, anime movies are very different to anime shows. The main difference is that they are designed for one sitting. Now, you can binge plenty of anime, but I usually prefer not to. With movies, however, I've never stopped mid-way. This makes them perfect for a single, concentrated experience that scratches a different itch than anime shows do.
What's more, the shorter runtime, often higher budget and more lenient production time makes the actual production itself higher quality. That's why anime movies usually look better than shows. That is to say, movies are sort of what you get when studios remove their training weights and go all-out.
Movies are a great way to extend or end an anime show, or have a stand-alone piece of quality media. And with that said, here are my favourite anime movies.
