Rumiko Takahashi is a Japanese manga artist. With a career of several commercially successful works, beginning with Urusei Yatsura in 1978, she is one of Japan's best-known and wealthiest manga artists. Her works are popular worldwide, where they have been translated into a variety of languages, with over 200 million copies in circulation; making Takahashi one of the best-selling authors of all time.

Her most well-known works are Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma ½, Inuyasha, Rin-Ne etc.
Urusei Yatsura

The TV series is adapted from Volumes 1-29 of the original manga by Rumiko Takahashi. The remainder of the manga was later adapted into OVAs and Movie 5. Except for episodes 10 and 11, the first 21 episodes consist of two 11-minute segments.

The film covers the 'Boy Meets Girl' story arc (chapters 356-366) from Volume 34(End) of the original manga, which is the entirety of the 34th and final volume. This is the only film in the franchise to adapt chapters from the manga. It is also the official ending of the anime series.
