MangaSpoiler
A collection of Go Nagai's most... interesting work (for better or worse)
Getter Robo is not included due to it largely being the work of Ken Ishikawa

Nagai's protagonists at their most psychotic - no-one is likeable in this bizarre school rebellion story
Manga, 3 vol, 1971

Proto-Devilman, infamous for incest, rape (of course) and Satanism

Nagai's best work (in my opinion at least) - and noticeably one he seemed to care about more than just writing it to sell off the TV show rights to Toei. Dark and depressing
Manga, 5 vol, 1972

A decently fun adventure series that literally invented the Super Robot genre (and may have created mecha as a whole if you don't count Tetsujin 28-go
- clearly made to sell to Toei, but has some fun set pieces nonetheless. Noticably less sexual stuff than the average Nagai fever dream

Can you tell this guy used to write and draw hentai? Outside of being the first Magical Girl manga that was aimed at boys and was an action show, it is noticeable for all the sexual moments (I hesitate to call any of them erotic) that may have - according to my copy's afterwards - helped create waifu culture and blur the lines between straight ecchi and mainstream anime/ manga

Nagai makes dark and gritty OCs out of his own characters, set in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo. Mazinger Z is literally just a really tall guy who Koji climbs on and gives orders to, it's great.

This book reveals that Devilman was indirectly responsible for both the execution of Marie Antoinette and Hitler's rise to power

I hate this manga. All of Nagai's horny insanity in one place - featuring Ryo from Devilman dressed up as Dracula

Literally a manga adaptation of the Divine Comedy - a real shift from his usual stuff
