Has 3 seasons and 2 movies. Very obvious choice for the generic magical girl anime, still a very good watch.

2 seasons and a 2 part movie. If the original style is not to your liking this is a very good alternative, covers all the plot points from the original with a smoother design.

1 Season with 4 OVA's. Just like Sailor Moon, if you're looking for a good generic magical girl anime, this is a great one to look into.

2 seasons, 2 movies. Another good 'ol classic that I'm sure if you haven't watched already, you've seen Sakura somewhere before. This show is really cute and sweet, and while there's no real transformation, there is magic, and love and mystery.

1 Season. Just like the old Cardcaptor Sakura, this is a revamp with better artstyle, the story does change a smidge, but overall the themes are all still there.

3 seasons, although the 3rd season is.... eh. A really cute series, all the characters are sweet and the little chara's are adorable.

1 season, with a remake on the way. Another super cute and interesting series that's easy to dive into and just enjoy.

2 seasons. A harmless magical girl anime that uses singing mermaids as inspiation.

1 season. THIS ANIME, geez no one ever seems to know it, but it is one of my absolute favorites, the plot line is really good, and there's a twist that when I first watched, I never saw coming.

1 Season. Go, watch this now if you haven't. Absolute masterpiece of a show, it's very moving and pretty and touching, if you want a great show that will tug on your heartstrings and make you want to learn ballet, watch it.

1 season. This series is over looked by many, and no one ever seems to know it, but it's a super good, short anime that really pretty and sweet.

1 Season. A really cute and simple show that features 2 friends who one is a witch that can transform.

2 seasons (If you don't count the billions other spin off and alternate world.) I haven't checked out any of the other series from this franchise, but the style of this seems the most... tame. The story is good and the characters are cute.

1 season. A great series that will keep you intrigued the whole way. Don't let it's cute artstyle sway you though, it gets a little intense.

2 Seasons, 4 movies. Everyone knows this one, but if you're into a more dark concept of magical girls, this would definitely be your jam.

1 season. This is another more darker and edgy magical girl anime. It has all the elements, but feels as though it wanted to be more like Madoka than absolutely original.

1 season. Unlike the other ones, this one also doesn't have any fighting, the main character transform to become a pop star. Caution, if you do watch this be prepared, this show gets really, really sad at times.

2 seasons. This show isn't so much a magical girl, but like Shugo Chara the main characters have "Sweet Spirits" that help the characters bake throughout the show. It's a simple show, that really cute and sweet.

1 season. Okay look, I know, this isn't a magical girl, but here me out, the main character transform into an older more cooler phantom thief to steal artworks. Okay yes, this is a more shounen version of magical girls, to every degree, but it's really good and compelling, if you're looking for a series that less pink, this is a great one.

3 seasons. This show is more like a parody of the genre, though it doesn't do it in a too mocking way, it's a good series to just turn your brain off and watch.

2 Seasons. I really only added this since the main lead does turn into a magical girl (kinda) but it's not really really. If you're older and looking for a more dumb comedy than go for it, but otherwise it's okay.

1 season. This is another show that is more intended for more of an adult crowd, it's not a bad show perse, but I wouldn't say it was that great of a show either.
