This is a fascinating story about exorcists fighting demon like machines made from people's souls by the Millennium Earl (a strange supernatural being). The exorcists have special powers given to them by "Innocence" (the only weapon left to them to fight against the Earl). Much of the story involves the exorcists searching for Innocence to use as weapons against the Earl.

Allen is a great main character to follow. He is shrouded in mystery, and questions are slowly answered throughout the story. He makes a lot of friends among the exorcists and even recruits a few exorcists himself. There are other great supporting characters in this story, and each brings something special and unique to the series. There's a little comedy through the story, but really it's very dark and emotional. If you want to see a story where the good guy rarely wins then this is it. It's almost depressing at times, but thankfully there's typically a light at the end of the tunnel.

The real enemies (the Noah's) appear throughout the series to thoroughly wipe the tables with the exorcists. If you're wondering who the "Noah's" are then think "religion based story." I won't give any details but this story does have a heavy religious tone. Towards the end we get a few questions answered, but not all of them since they wrapped the anime up while the manga is still ongoing.

The anime is a little slower than the manga series, and the artwork in the manga is better. The filler is watchable in this anime, so I don't fault it, but the slowness of the story is why I rated it a 7. It could be the fillers fault but it gets a little slow at times, which lost it some points in my book. It's still a great series and worth watching. Even though it has an open ending, you can pick up the manga close to where the anime leaves off.

In short, worth watching, don't miss it.
