A young girl can't make up her mind and is forced to go adventuring! Throughout, she confronts death, despair, loneliness, and loss. It's not all dark! We see delightful sequences of fun, frolicking friendship. As the show continues, she takes agency and fights for herself, her future, and her friends. It's a glorious trip through Pure Illusion. Or just an excuse for a talented staff to show off. The shounen and magical girl influences are clear throughout. The power up and transformation sequences are straight from the 90s. While always visually stunning, some episodes take a detour to the introspective, diving into the depths of tertiary characters. The show walks the line of overstuffed and under-baked with its 13 episode stretch, but the short run gives it a frenetic pace that matches the animation and story told.
