Do I write reviews about everything? Nope, do I write reviews about shows that make an impact on me? Yes. I decided to watch Ao Haru Ride when I saw a short clip on reels where Mabuchi hugs Futaba from the windows when she was crying and people were walking by. That one scene was enough to make me decide that it'd definitely appeal to my shojou manga heart.

This anime follows the lives of the two of them, Mabuchi and Futaba who had crushes on each other during middle school and even almost went out together but wasn't able to due to certain unavoidable circumstances as life usually does play out. They meet again years later, at high school and they are different from how they were before, and yet at the same time, there's something familiar about each other.

This isn't a story of love though, it's so much more than that. It shows how much moments in our past life can directly influence and shape the future. How some things, just cannot be let go of alone and may need external influence to help you see a new perspective to the same old life that you have been living. It's a story of friendship, of family, of inter-personal relations, of self-reflection and introspection and even of promises and regrets.

In the 12 episodes of seemingly slice of life like imagery, we see that people are so much more than just an extra in one's life. And how much, getting involved could change things, be it for better or worse.
