I've been meaning to watch O Maidens in your savage season since it was first aired but didn't get around to and it eventually was swept under the rug of new seasonal anime. I expected a strong Romance Comedy which radiated from the masturbation hook-scene in Episode 1 but I was greeted with a complex love triangle and more dramatic elements than romance & comedy.

Story: 7/10
"Ess-ee-ecks" as a physical representation of one's love for another has been a predominant principle within this series and is constantly referred to by the characters of the Literature Club but as the story progresses and each character eventually finds their way into a relationship or lack-thereof it appears that there is much more to romantic-bonding than just physical sensations. O Maidens in your Savage Season definitely uses comedy between the latter half of the series which doesn't suit the romantic conflict and certainly doesn't end on a satisfying note - I found myself watching a repetitive fluctuation of serious moment build ups and eventually de-escalates through comedy which rinse and repeats until the final episode which wasn't a true love-triangle experience.

Art & Sound: 6/10
I'll make a point now that the animation and art are very average, most of the scenes are made up of environmental panning shots or still shots with moving mouths as expected of anime however, the scenes stay running while dialogue plays in the background which was unsatisfying. I'd say you can probably get away with watching this at 2.10 speed and still grasp all the details they throw at you but I expected a lot more from this series in terms of art & animation.

Sound was also very average for the most part, most of the sound was dialogue and near silent background noise to supplement. I did notice that Hitoha Hongou's VA sounded like they were in their early 30s and didn't necessarily suit her character's appearance but it definitely wasn't too noticeable.

Character: 8/10
Character development was definitely this series main strength, there were many different unexpected surprises that caught me off-guard especially the love triangle that developed as a result of a few neglected opportunities. However, for the most part all the main characters and supporting characters have a satisfying presence that compromises with the story to deliver a dramatic experience. The ending development in character felt a bit too rushed because of the late confessions but that was at the expense of developing several characters in the earlier half of the series.

Enjoyment: 7/10
I'm still adapting to romcom series and I'd say this is probably a hit or miss viewing experience. I did enjoy the conflict and dramatic atmosphere around the characters of the Literature Club but I felt there was more untapped potential to provoke a dramatic atmosphere beyond what was shown.
