Never have I seen so much potential turn into so much shit.
Darling in the FranXX was such an utter mess of a story that I gave more than enough chances to try and like it.
First of all, it had a first half with no story, but even the second half had some story which felt like the writers had no idea what's going on.
The pacing was horrendous since the final few episodes were incredibly rushed and before that, everything was moving so slow.
And they didn't even know what kind of show this was. A drama? A serious scifi show? A slice of life? They tried to be everything and it was a clusterfuck.
I tried to like it. But I couldn't.
Characters (1/10)
This cast was poorly handled.
Hiro was a fine MC. Not bad but a bit cliché.
Zero Two was a cool character at first, but once she got with Hiro, the writers killed all interesting aspects about her. She was super boring in that second half.
Ichigo was a prop in the romance drama, since after that, she disappeared. And Goro was nice but again, poorly handled.
Kokoro and Mitsuru were awfully written too. From nothing to a sex'd couple and married in few episodes? Fuck that.
The whole cast could have been interesting, but many were underutilized and poorly written. What a shame.
Art & Animation (8/10)
Other than the giant 002 mecha design failure, it was really well done. Visuals were very good and sleak.
Characters looked good too.
Sound (7/10)
Good OP, decent but underwhelming OST and fine VA performances, especially Kokoro's VA.
Enjoyment (0/10)
They took all my enjoyment and shat all over it. It became boring, overdramatized and infuriating to watch.
One of the most exciting shows for me in beginning of 2018 became one of the shittiest shows this year.
Abysmal show.
