Now then, where to start with this trainwreck? Now don't get me wrong, its not that bad overall, but its extremely immature and badly written, the whole story can be summed up in nearly full detail in one paragraph : "Deaf girl gets transferred into class, gets bullied by kids, and mostly by a kid that doesn't know how he should interact with her because she's different. Said kid gets blamed for it, turns from bully to bullied, then grows up completely socially awkward and psychologically messed up, trying to 'fix' it first by suicide, and then by trying to make it up to the girl. Girl meanwhile blames herself since she apparently always liked him, thinks she's the one making his life miserable, attempts suicide by jumping off a building (SHE AS WELL? no other solutions or plot devices you can think of Japs? like, move to a different city/school, why fucking end it all??), then gets saved by said guy but he ends up falling himself instead, then goes into a coma, and once he's out of it everything's fixed. SOMEHOW. Yay.

All the characters are super one dimensional, first the protagonist who is that socially awkward guy who can't do anything right, even explain himself properly, though guess that part goes for all of them and most anime characters in general.

Then there's his mom that's the usual "perfect woman" - a superhero single mom who both works and has time for her kids somehow, super patient, kind, pretty much turns the other cheek when hit, and has a black skinned daughter with no explanation for when and how that happened, where the father is, or anything else really (guessing she's just there for diversity points? the little girl gets next to no focus and character, although quite some screen time), the father also shows up at some point with still no explanations to what exactly is going on (why isn't he there for the kids? are they divorced? from what i understood he's only the father of the girl, and not the main character, still, he's not around, not for her nor the protagonist...)

Finally there's our deaf girl - she has no defining characteristics aside being deaf, kind, and in love with the protagonist for some mysterious reason, what makes her hate herself for being unlike everyone else

And finally there's her mother who's probably the most flat character of them all - she has no defining features aside being openly violent and hateful towards everyone who was bad to her daughter, and once the protagonist proved himself to be good to her, she literally deflates into nothingness, she might as well be furniture or background decoration at this point.

The rest are this way too, barely even worth a mention.

The deaf girl's sister on the other hand, is probably the most fleshed out character in the whole show - she has character, overreacts, thinks for herself, has reason behind her actions, and is more straight forward and suitable for interactions than anyone else in the show. Aside the protagonist and the deaf girl, she also gets the most focus.

The sound and art are decent and maybe even good, the characters and story suck though, and the movie plays off on compassion, emotion and pity for them all way more than its bothering to actually be good.

So what's the final verdict? About 7/10. A relatively good watch if you have the time and are looking for something with emotion, but nothing memorable, especially story wise.
