K-On+movie review

A story about spending your high school years can be told in many ways like using metaphors or philosophy or from a critique point of view or a lesson about life but K-ON doesn’t need that stuff to convey the message to his viewer.

K-on uses the most simple and silly things friends do daily to tell a nice , fun and beautiful story about friendship , bonds , identity and making memories in our high school years with the help of our characters . Our characters are 5 normal high school girls who decide to form a music band and spend their 3 years of high school performing together in their Light Music club room.

On the surface the action of drinking and eating cake each day in the club room for the viewer may seem plain but K-on manages to use the natural atmosphere from the club room to tell us more about the characters. From their silly actions and daily routine we get to know their habits ,personalities and emotions each character portrays along the development of the story.

K-On takes a reality approach and presents the sister relationship between Yui and Ui . It shows their daily life and the contrast between those two Yui the airhead and clumsy old sister and Ui the responsible and mature little sister that helps Yui. All is done from a natural and reality point of view for the viewer. In the end it’s a simple and beautiful story about two sister who care for each other.

K-on is an anime that cherishes the bonds between friends and the memories that define their bond. It’s done with the help of our two main characters Mio and Ritsu. We are presented their childhood memories and silly stuff they done , the moments where they laugh and cry together , standing for each other in need until the present day.

K-on portrays aspects from the Japanese society precisely the customs between high school students in Japan. Taking a natural and realistic pace of story telling it shows us an insight of how Japanese students spend their 3 years of high school facing the difficulties such as exams but also the enjoyment such as school festivals , clubroom activities , school trip and practice campus. All for the sake of forming bonds and memories with friends.

In Japan there is common respect for the elder and K-on manages to portray that with the actions of our characters .Let’s take an example the gratitude letters Azusa write for her Senpai from the music band, the graduation ceremony were the students hand over to their homeroom teacher a notebook with their respect and gratitude message for teaching them all those 3 years.

K-on has a variety of unique and vivid characters that stand out at first glance. Each character plays a different instrument symbolizing their identity and personality. They act so natural in each situation they face that the viewer can relate to them in real life.Yui the airhead and clumsy member but also hardworking, Mio the shy and responsible student, Ritsu the one who acts before thinking , Mugi the elegant and refined lady and finally Azusa the younger member who is the one which everyone can rely on her .
K-on also gives importance to the minor characters who define the characterization of the main 5 girls. Sawa -sensei the popular type teacher who has a wild past, Ui who is the support and little sister for Yui and her friends who always give a hand when in need.

K-on didn’t tried to leave a empty impression for the viewer and desire for more , so with the help of the movie it managed to portray the next step for the music band which is to perform on a live stage. It was a new experience but also a enjoyable one for the 5 girls in their graduation trip to London. As for the conclusion the movie symbolized a message of gratitude for Azusa who was the support and foundation for the music band in the form of a song. The song relayed the emotions, memories and gratitude from her Senpai across those 2 years that they spend together.

A beautiful and simple slice of life anime with a lot of dumb and silly stuff that happen between our main characters but with a strong and realistic approach on the daily routine and personal lives . A story about the meaning of friendship, bonds and memories , a story about respect and gratitude , a story called K-on.
