So I was 247 characters into this review when i had to stop and go back and re-read my review of Bakemonogatari to confirm the two pretty much said the very same thing. This gave birth to the thought that one really REALLY should watch the first series before watching this one. Not that it's diminished without it, on the contrary; the mark of an anime as brilliant as this is that one need not have any prior information or experience with the series to enjoy either, or any of them as told from a non linear point of view as I've only watched Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari as of this review.
Which, finally, brings me to my point. You already know you're going to watch it. You watched the first series didn't you? If you didn't then you should BUT you don't need to, in case you have some sort of aversion to watching first series or quality anime.
And if you did, then you already know you want to see more. The only issue is crunchyroll not having the last three episodes of Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari not directly filling those blanks. Which, I kind of liked because it meant I had to pay attention and learn information to fill in said blanks.
My only real complaint is it's not for everyone, some with triggers that require warnings may have issue with some scenes and subject matter.
Other than that WATCH IT! IT'S GREAT AND A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY I STILL WATCH ANIME AFTER NEARLY FOUR DECADES!
