Re:Zero is famous for a lot of things but it became known to me thanks to those viral and hilarious "I love Emilia" memes, and of course, the girl whom a lot of fans claim to be the "Best Girl", Rem.

At first, I didn't want to watch it. The main idea of dying and reviving continuously is very interesting but not appealing to me. Let's just say I'm not fond of too dark and depressing themes. But after a lot of persuading from my best friend, I finally gave it a try. And I wasn't honestly prepared of the heartbreakingly messed up but enthralling world Re:Zero offers.

I was filled with various emotions the whole time I watched this. There are times when I want to go into that world and beat the crap out of that annoying villain. Or punch Subaru in the face but comfort him at the same time.

My heart was in a complete mess.

There were just so many emotions swirling inside me it was hard to distinguish what I really feel. It was like I was drowning when someone saved me. And when I finally was able to breathe, someone deliberately decided to throw me back into the water. And then I was saved again. Threw back again. Saved again. Back again.

It was a continuous process you'll wonder if it'd ever end. But once it DID, there was a huge smile on my face and an overwhelming amount of joy filled my heart.

That's how I'll summarize what I generally felt. The journey was hard and painful. I suffered along with Subaru and wished the nightmare would just end. There were a lot of times when I felt like my heart couldn't take it anymore and watch my ever favorite, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun instead. But I'm glad I didn't give up and continued to persevere until the end. It was WORTH IT.

The gore parts and the heavy drama may steer some viewers away. Not to mention the fact that it wasn't for the sensitive and the light-hearted. The anime has a bad habit of putting you through pain as if they had pulled your heart out of your chest and continuously stepped on it before putting it back. There was a time during the second half wherein the suffering Subaru experienced dragged on for so long it was unbearable.

There was even a time when I hated Subaru. But even though I hated him, I couldn't help but still care about him. So I guess I had a love-hate relationship with the protagonist. Though, halfway through second half, I started loving the poor guy once again. Everything he did was justifiable in my point of view and it didn't help either that I LITERALLY felt what he felt.

The ending was really cute and up to the last second, I was smiling like crazy. Even though the ending credits was already rolling, I was still grinning. And even when the video stopped and a blank screen already greeted me, a big smile was still plastered on my face. You have no idea how happy and relieved I was when the pain and suffering finally ended.

In the end, no amount of words can accurately explain what I exactly felt and experienced with this anime. It was just really good. I now completely understand why it became famous. Its success was well-deserved.

If you're okay with gore, can handle heavy drama and likes fantasy, then I recommend this anime to you. Just be prepared okay? Be sure to have tissues beside you and be very careful not to damage your laptop while watching it (especially on the moments when the villain is so hateful and/or Subaru is being annoying). Take even more extra caution if you're emotional just like me. This anime, after all, appeals more towards your heart than your mind.

Over-all, watching Re:Zero is tiring but fun. It was really great and the ride was very memorable. I couldn't count how many times I cried, got annoyed, got mad, and laughed. Even though it could get too depressing, annoying and/or dragged too long, it didn't affect my journey. Even though the ending was a cliffhanger, it was still really sweet. I'd definitely watch season two which I am sure will be released soon!

I rate Re:Zero 10 out of 10.

P.S.: I love Emilia and I ship her with Subaru but Rem is still best girl. XD
