Okay, let me begin by saying this was an attempt on my part to view something outside my normal genres (action & mecha). My first attempt was Occult Academy, but that is a topic for another review.
I fell in love with the initial premise of an immortal half demon and a demon slayer with cursed blood meet by fate one day. The action and animation were up to par and I liked the characters and how they established the world they lived inhabit. I quite enjoyed the emotional content as well which should hit home with many an otaku looking for something with heart, wit, & action in a single anime. As much as there is to praise here I'd feel remiss in my duty if I didn't tell you the last 25% of this series bogged down.
[spoiler]
episode ten is a recap of the first nine with all the little secrets revealed, setting up episode 11 which was done in the first 6 minutes of episode 10. All of which is so predictable, but could be forgiven had they not sidelined the scobies at the end. And the bad guy didn't die, another everything is back to normal at the end. Which cost it an entire point as the tragic & poignant end is ruined by an American style happy ending that leaves us where we started. Also, I grew annoyed with the rampant use of the word "senpai" in this series.
all in all it's seven episodes of quality anime padded out to 12, but I'm a pretty harsh critic many of you should like it more than I...
