1.Shinon is not a good character but she is far better than Kirito, whom I despise like as a character at all (If you have seen the Calibur Arc you will get it+He is the prime Gary Stu).
2.Characters were mostly bland and it had a story that at least was less convoluted than S1 but still convoluted. But the biggest flaw in the story is that the title is completely irrelevant except of the fact that there are most of the characters we met in SAO Season 1. e.g. Sword Art Online and it has guns instead of swords. Also, even if there was some development in Shinon, it was done in a superficial manner.
3.Soundtrack was average.
Calibur Arc: The worst!!!
1.Characters are not standing out, except Kirito of course. Klein is supposed to be Goofy in the group, while Shinon is the main character who had to become generic and boring so that she could be part of the harem. Also, one interesting thing is that she is the only girl in the harem that does not have any love interest in Kirito.
2.In general most of characters in SAO are treated like comic relief or minor so that Kirito stands out.
3.I was not fond of the op from this arc. I loved the op from the next arc more than this one.
Mother's Rosario: It was very melodramatic and some things were off, for instance filler characters that do not play a big role. But, the biggest complain was that it was too short and the drama was kind of forced. But, I would rather watch a whole series based on Yukki as the main character than being burdened watching the SAO franchise so far.
Overall: 5.24/10 with a preferable recommendation to skip it. That is pretty much everything you need to know. The producers have made some small corrections in comparison to the previous season but still the show contained major flaws from the previous series and ended up being an average show. What is shocking at least to me is how differently the second season is perceived. It was not well-received by the fandom, while the first one has been considered even as the "Saviour of Anime" (LOL XD). However, just as much as the first season, it is beyond great and even decent. Still, it has some enjoyable features as a show, which might have explained why the series has become hyped.
