Highschool of the Dead is an anime that caters to it's audience perfectly and if you're interested in violence, zombies, and ecchi then you'll find this will fill your time brilliantly. If you're after some complex and in depth analysis of the human psyche and complain because you can't find it, then go watch something else.

(6) Story:

The story is simple enough to make sense while not too stupid. Essentially it follows the first few days of a zombie apocalypse as seen by a young Japanese teenager and his friends. It's not exactly throwing out plot twists so you'll know what'll happen, but it's not like it tries to overcomplicate itself so I suppose it could be worse. Though at the time of writing there is no real ending so yeah, be wary of that.

(8) Art:

The art works brilliantly and the animation is mostly flawless, at least for what it's aiming for. Again I've mentioned that HOTD is a very simple anime that just fits itself in where it needs to. It's not got anything AMAZING that you can point to and call a defining moment, but it's not got anything that makes you laugh because it's so horribly bad. Again, could be worse but I find it functional.

(8) Sound:

The dubs for both English and Japanese are fantastic and easily watchable regardless of your preference. The actual sounds other than that are fitting and you never find yourself going, 'Uh wait that's not a gun sound' like I could mention in other anime...

(6) Character:

This is ecchi, so they're pretty cookie stereotypical. But just as a hint, the two main leads are going to remind you of Kirito and Asuna, apart from them being just older versions of their characters. (They actually aren't though so yeah)

(9) Enjoyment:

What? I liked the show. The characters were somewhat relatable and I liked the comedy. And also I'm a guy so episodes 6 and 7 (which contain most of the ecchi parts) were pretty hilarious to me. Though I tend to skip them when I re-watch it every so often. I also like the characters themselves and I like how the show doesn't try and take itself too seriously. It's light hearted at times, and sure it has serious moments but overall it's an upbeat show. You finish it in a good mood.

(9) Overall: Honestly this show is great if you just want what it is, and what it is, is a short, funny, ecchi/comedy/action series with some likeable characters and some zombies.
