If the nightmare fuel, eclipse-esque monster designs and gore did not already make it clear that Berserk was inspired HEAVILY by Devilman, the last few episodes most certainly do... for entirely different reasons. Seriously: after finishing Crybaby, there can be little doubt over which work was most directly responsible when Miura came up with his own series. Thanks to Crybaby, I got to understand how Griffith came to be, as well as watching something quite special. Can't ask for much more than that, really: enjoyment and insight.

Berserk is heavily influential from Devilman and Berserk would probably not exists if Devilman didn't. Both titles are action-packed anime with violence, blood, gore, and lots of terrifying demonic monsters. In both anime series, the main characters must battle evil beings in order to survive, even if it means sacrificing some of their humanity. If you like one, you'll probably like the other.

Dark fantasies with monsters out of nightmare, gore and nudity. Story about two friends, one strong and one pretty, the pretty ruined things because of his selfish goals. Also Berserk was inspired by the original Devilman manga.

Two nightmarish series that are not afraid to show blood and nudity, the main trio of each story (Akira/Ryou/Miki and Guts/Griffith/Casca) are also similar.

Key elements in both series include but are not limited to: Gratuitous violence, blood and gore, grotesque monsters, roots in mythology, great fight scenes, uncensored sexual themes, friendship, betrayal, the dynamic between two characters who are perfect foils for each other, and the exploration of one's "fate".

Both (and especially their manga counterparts) are violent action/horror anime that are extremely important milestones in the history of the industry. Devilman (in version of its original manga) was a major influence on Berserk's monsters' concept, few plot points, and even on some characters.

Berserk is inspired from Devilman and both are based around the themes of bad and good, what is human etc... Both are also dark and mature themed shows

Both have the best gore and best plot. Characters also similar, but Berserk characters are more developed since this show is still on going. Devilman have a huge influence in this Kentaro Miura work.

Berserk and Devilman:Crybaby are Insanely similar. Main reason being is because of the Two main Characters in each Anime, and how their Friendship turns out in the End. Not to mention how Similar the Antagonist's for each Anime look, and even act. Throughout both Anime's a beautiful Friendship is built between the Two Main Character's, but eventually, they take a turn for the worst. Berserk is more Old School and Hardcore while Devilman:Crybaby is Newer Gen and Cartoony, yet still Brutal. Both have Intense Action as well as scenes Emotional enough to make you Tear up, with Memorable Soundtracks.

Both are ultra violent stories of a clash of two characters from opposing sides and devilman was also a massive source of inspiration for berserk.

A really great spin on a classic manga series that was in dire need of a good adaption Probably one of my favorite shows this season (so far)

Both shows feature supernatural powers and aren't shy about sex and violence, but that's not the point; they're most of all about friendship and betrayal, have a villain who is something of a classical Lucifer archetype, and end in a shocking manner.

Very similar antagonists (Ryou and Griffith) and ending episodes are similar plotwise

Devilman is often referred to as the series that inspired Miura Kentaro, the mangaka of Berserk, the most. Both series are very gory and horrifying. Both are dark fantasies. While their direction is quite different, you can feel the similarities in writing and world building. The main characters are both strugglers, although the concept of struggling is more prominent in Berserk.

The Devilman manga was made way back in the 70s. It's one of the most influential manga's of all time noted for heavily inspiring Kentaro Miura with Berserk and this anime adapts the story in a beautiful manner modernising it whilst maintaining its origin that made it so popular in the first place. Devilman shares similarities with Berserk on multiple accounts such as its gritty themes, highly emotional story backed by a beautiful art style if you enjoy Berserk as well as the Berserk manga you'll love Devilman. I sure did.
