Both anime depict the struggles a homosexual couple has to face in order to keep their relationship strong. Both of them last only one hour, if you liked one of them, be sure to check the other!

A very sweet, kinda short, romantic story focused on a homosexual pairing. It has lots of romance and little to no drama, as well as it's not at all a "fetishized" look, but rather very real. The biggest difference is that in Doukyuusei it's two boys, while in Asagao to Kase-san it's two girls. But I'm sure that if you liked one of them, you'll also like the other!

Both take place in single-sex schools and portray the relationships of same-sex couples in a sweet way.

Both of them are 1 hour long movies, following a same sex couple through different points in their relationship and all of the different struggles they need to overcome. Dookyuusei follows the relationship of two boys from the beginning, where Asagao to Kase-san follows two girls, who are already in one. Dookyusei has more interesting and destinct directing and animation, where Asagao to Kase-san feels a lot more like a conventional movie. But both are definetly worth checking out.

Both movies unravel the lovestory of a same sex couple in a very realistic and gentle way. The couples go to the same school, and as the story goes on they face post- graduation stress and fear that they will part ways with one another. A really sweet and honest story about same sex relationships in highschool.

-Both show same-sex romance (One is shounen-ai and the other shoujo-ai) -Doesn't follow the rules of what shounen-ai/shoujo-ai anime would usually do,having the relationship a 'Uke-seme' type of style. -Instead in both animes they show a neutral status in the relationship. -Things the two couples do aren't portrayed as something only a same-sex couple could do, Instead they are portrayed like your average everyday couple. -Both have beautiful art and calming sounds.

Even though these anime are not related, the vibe they have is totally same. It's just like the only thing changed is the genders of characters. Both last one hour too. Just go and watch

Asagao to Kase-san has really similar vibes to Doukyuusei. Both films are about LGBT couples who are in their senior year of highschool and showcase the characters romantic relationship in the film, rather than the build up to it. Both dipict quite a soft romance between the characters which is why I say the "vibes" are similar. As you'd imagine, in their last year of highschool, students have to pick what university they'll go to, which becomes a plot point in both of these movies. These films are both Shounen Ai showing WLW and MLM relationships in a softer light than just "yaoi" or "yuri."   read more

High schoolers loving each other and being adorable. Both had exactly the same problem and vibe (not to mention the characters.. the popular one and the shy/quite one) The feeling when watching it was like eating a pancake. Light, sweet, warm, and the "portion" is just right. The most obvious difference is that doukyuusei is a shounen-ai, while Asagao to Kase-san is a shoujo-ai. But if you welcome with both, I suggest you to watch these two! ♡

They both show a same-sex (one is shoujo-ai, the other is shounen-ai) high school couple go through similar struggles to keep their relationship together. Neither of them have weird sexualisation or fetishisation of same-sex relationships; no s*xual assault or r*pe scenes. Both are an hour long and very heartwarming, realistic stories that depict teenage feelings well. If you enjoyed either one of them, you'll definitely enjoy the other.

I love how these both follow the relationship of the characters. There is no "ultimate goal", it is just the ups, and downs of LGBTQ+ dating in a Japanese high school setting. Both are very heartwarming.
