Both of these titles are about anime production. The main characters even share the same positions. They are a great way to learn how anime is made and the interesting "characters" behind it. Animation Runner Kuromi is shorter and bit older (so some of the information is a little out of date) but is a great quick glance into production. Shirobako is a 2 cour series so it goes much more in depth and includes modern techniques like using 3D.

Both series are about young girl in animation studio and both involve dealing with various problems during production. Kuromi-chan is more of parody anime while Shirobako seems more realistic.

They're basically the same thing!

Both are comedies about animation production. Miyamori Aoi, the heroine of SHIROBAKO, work as a production assistant as well as Kuromi-chan. SHIROBAKO is a TV series containing 24 episodes so it is more detailed and realistic than the OVA Kuromi-chan, while Kuromi-chan is more exaggerated.

Both anime are about making anime at a fictional studio, told through the perspective of a female production assistant. Animation Runner is way more lighthearted and eccentric than Shirobako is, however both anime deal with a lot of the same problems and scenes (encouraging lazy animators at their homes, production issues, etc.). A fan of one will undoubtedly be a fan of the other, even if it is just because of the similar subject matter and setting. Animation Runner is older, and perhaps it is possible that it inspired Shirobako in some way.

They're both about a new producer coming into a studio and helping anime that are behind schedule get finished on time. Whereas Shirobako is quite serious and deals with mental health by having people break down, Kuromi is a straight-up comedy that achieves the same end while emphasizing the difficult work can bring people together, too.

Both are anime about professional anime production with a comedic plot. Both feature mainly young adult professionals, show some of them with classic otaku characters, and are seen trough the eyes of a fresh-from-art-school production assistant. In a nutshell, Shirobaku is the 2 cour version of the two hour OVA Kuromi-chan is, adding a lot more characters, plot, and an technological update to the animation technology shown.
