Have you been studying Japanese too and what do you love most about Vision of Escaflowne?
I haven't watched it in forever.
Well... you know my stance on it...
If you think you would like seeing the first episode played on a loop 13 times, you'll enjoy it.
Nice Count of Monte Cristo pic btw
hope you enjoy Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales. i just started Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna which has some really amazing animation
ok i'll check out Watership Down, i mean i only heard that its great, i just always have an endless list of stuff to watch/read x_x
have you seen Song of the Sea, it was a recent Irish animated movie. It's really amazing and gorgeous
XD ok, i like Alan Moore even though he's a grumpy old man. yeah his Batman graphic novel, The Killing Joke is worth checking out. Y the Last Man is really great, def give it another try if you have the time. Walking dead is really good right now, i've been reading it for years, it has its highs and lows though. yeah im a graphic novel hipster XD i got into American/British comics from Neil Gaiman's Sandman when i was in high school as opposed to superheroes as a kid like alot of people, so i've always been more into indie stuff
Graphic novel wise i usually recommend people start with Blankets by Craig Thompson. Fun Home by Alison Bechdel is also a good one. i could go more indie hipster, but idk what you're in to :P
EDIT: and yes i have seen Fantastic Planet!! my dad used to let me watch his vhs copy when i was a kid, which was kinda fucked up on his end. that movie had some messed up stuff :O
yeah i like more serious and artistic approaches to japanese and shintoism mythology and folklore. there's plenty of series that have it as a plot point but most of them are kinda generic or ecchi
i'm into anime and manga more as an animation and comicbook hipster than for weeaboo reasons (i like animation/comics from around the world) so things things Mononoke really make me drool because they aren't afraid to take risks with their art style and techniques. its really awesome =D
yeah it's kinda old so i can see it maybe being hard to find, do you get your anime the legit way or the pirate way? cause i'm surprised Mononoke was hard to find :O
and yeah Mononoke is fantastic! basically what i want from anime in one series =D
Mononoke is amazing >_> but make sure to watch this series first

Mononoke is sorta kinda a continuation of it
