ごきげんよう、貴婦人!

Have you been studying Japanese too and what do you love most about Vision of Escaflowne?

I haven't watched it in forever.
Kurt_Irving Mar 1, 2016 7:34 AM
I like hip hip too, although I'm more into the classic or positive stuff (I don't consider gangsta rap old-school hip hop), but I like how it gave Shinichiro Watanabe ideas for making Samurai Champloo. As for rock and heavy metal music, I listen to it casually, but I still want to listen to AC/DC when I have time. Nowadays, I'm trying to find good music from anime and various TV shows.
Kurt_Irving Feb 29, 2016 6:19 PM
Hello there! so what kind of music do you like?
Taz_ Feb 19, 2016 6:20 AM
I don't have a place to tell you whether or not you should like it or not, and if you do like it, all the power to you. I guess I was just telling a different perspective of the coin :p
Taz_ Feb 18, 2016 3:40 PM
Ahh, I see. It's just because I'm the fifth review down, and nobody bothers to look at the negative reviews and such.

Well... you know my stance on it...

If you think you would like seeing the first episode played on a loop 13 times, you'll enjoy it.
Taz_ Feb 16, 2016 7:50 PM
I don't usually get many people commenting about my review anymore. What happened?
Taz_ Feb 16, 2016 7:49 PM
It means a brown overworked, underpaid, Asian(either Chinese or Indian) who works in the fields.

Nice Count of Monte Cristo pic btw

i've heard of Noam Chomsky but not that movie, i'll check it out =D

hope you enjoy Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales. i just started Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna which has some really amazing animation
zodac Sep 22, 2015 4:53 AM
i love Wizard! super trippy, but i like 70's take on fantasy stuff, so many drug references XD

ok i'll check out Watership Down, i mean i only heard that its great, i just always have an endless list of stuff to watch/read x_x

have you seen Song of the Sea, it was a recent Irish animated movie. It's really amazing and gorgeous
zodac Sep 18, 2015 4:46 AM
oh i bought the Watership Down novel a few years back and its still sitting in my bookcase waiting to be read >_< i don't remember if i saw the movie. Have you ever seen any of the Ralph Bakshi rotoscope animated films, like is version of LotR from the 70s? i really like his stuff XD

XD ok, i like Alan Moore even though he's a grumpy old man. yeah his Batman graphic novel, The Killing Joke is worth checking out. Y the Last Man is really great, def give it another try if you have the time. Walking dead is really good right now, i've been reading it for years, it has its highs and lows though. yeah im a graphic novel hipster XD i got into American/British comics from Neil Gaiman's Sandman when i was in high school as opposed to superheroes as a kid like alot of people, so i've always been more into indie stuff
zodac Sep 16, 2015 1:52 PM
oh nice! which ones have you read? in terms of non-superhero comics i would say check out Y the Last Man, its generally considered one of the best comics ever written. Then I would say check out Saga which is by the same writter, it's probably the most popular non-superhero comic currently running (besides the Walking Dead)

Graphic novel wise i usually recommend people start with Blankets by Craig Thompson. Fun Home by Alison Bechdel is also a good one. i could go more indie hipster, but idk what you're in to :P

EDIT: and yes i have seen Fantastic Planet!! my dad used to let me watch his vhs copy when i was a kid, which was kinda fucked up on his end. that movie had some messed up stuff :O
zodac Sep 16, 2015 8:41 AM
i think i know which tracker you mean :P

yeah i like more serious and artistic approaches to japanese and shintoism mythology and folklore. there's plenty of series that have it as a plot point but most of them are kinda generic or ecchi

i'm into anime and manga more as an animation and comicbook hipster than for weeaboo reasons (i like animation/comics from around the world) so things things Mononoke really make me drool because they aren't afraid to take risks with their art style and techniques. its really awesome =D
zodac Sep 16, 2015 8:28 AM
hey! its ok! how's it going?

yeah it's kinda old so i can see it maybe being hard to find, do you get your anime the legit way or the pirate way? cause i'm surprised Mononoke was hard to find :O

and yeah Mononoke is fantastic! basically what i want from anime in one series =D
zodac Jun 22, 2015 1:10 PM
/looks at your list

Mononoke is amazing >_> but make sure to watch this series first
http://myanimelist.net/anime/586/Ayakashi:_Japanese_Classic_Horror

Mononoke is sorta kinda a continuation of it
zodac Jun 12, 2015 2:52 AM
yeah it's pretty high! we're just that hip =D
