OMG issa isekai y'all. who'da thunk one of those would come out. Oh, what's that? It's actually super charming and overall good with a huge budget for stellar animation? Well I guess it's worth checking out then.
Dude gets killed, wakes up in another dimension as a lowly slime. PLOT TWIST he's super powerful. One thing I absolutely love about this show is that it justified it's main character being overpowered. Aside from the inherent resistances that come with being a slime. The MC eats an elemental dragon and then grinds for a month in the cave he spawned in. Then, after literally clearing the
...
cave out, he leaves and goes on a wild adventure making new friends and unexpected allies. The story never gets too complicated, so sit back an relax.
Like I said before, the art is great. The team clearly got plenty of money and time to make the show look good. Even the CG animation isn't too egregious and is sparsely used.
Outside of the a good OP and ED, the music was mostly ambient. The sound effects ranged a little. Explosion and other magic sound good. Physical combat had some generic sword clanging noises, but the hand to hand stuff sounded good.
The character designs are good. There are a ton of reoccurring characters and none of them look alike. The characteristics of these characters are pretty generic though. There are a few good comedy characters but most of the others fit into a stereotype. The good news is that, much like with a big j-pop or k-pop group, with so many characters you are bound to like at least one of them.
My overall enjoyment was clearly enough to stay invested till the end. My enjoyment only tanked at the last bit when the MC goes to help some kids with their powers. It was kind of a boring way to end a 24 ep. run. However, with there being an ep. 24.5 out and the show being massively popular, I'm guessing we are getting another season.
I would recommend the show. However, binging might be a bad idea as the show has a lot of story arcs, events and character introductions occur in rapid succession. It might be exhausting.

Yeah, I think I'll drop this show at 13. I was fine with how mediocre the show was, when I thought it was 13 eps. But Christ when I reached the end, of what Netflix has out currently at 3/25/2019, and only two of these bad guys had been beaten and Baki had done FUCK ALL, I was not about to sit through another 13 eps.
I'm sure the mal description is fine, but the the story is just, a bunch of badass, deadly criminals fight a bunch of badass, deadly not criminals. That's really all it is. Don't let any other analysis try and
...
confuse you. The problem with Baki's story is that it's so damn slow. Everyone talks slow and fight scenes while animated interestingly are done slow or are dragged out. The good guys will fight the bad guys for a about an episode or 2 and then the bad guy will run away. it feels like a waste of time when you realize that the bad guy STILL isn't beaten after a fight. This show could have EASILY been a tight, fast 12 eps and for some reason got 26.
The art is.....inconsistent, to say the least. The character design is really catering to those that like big, thick men with adorable faces. I'm sure a lot of um, "interesting fanart" will be made of some of these characters. Another weird choice, is that fight scenes will cut between hand drawn and cgi animations. For once, I will say I wish it had been all cgi. The bits of fights that are cgi look like a cell shaded fighting game and it's pretty cool. But for some reason the show never stays cgi for long.
Sound is good, no real complaints. I think the op sucks, but the ost is just a bunch of well placed electric guitar that's sounds a little like the new DOOM.
The characters are a bunch of fight-men. You have all the warriors, there's the Russian, the UK brawler, a couple of weapon specialists, kunfu masters, etc. Baki's character and love interest seem really forced and awkward however. So that's not good.
Overall, there's no way I could recommend this show. If you are going to tell a story with a bunch of well worn stereotypes you need to bring something different to the table and this show does not. Its story bloated and hit or miss with the animation to boot.

This show reminds me a lot of Ready Player One. It has a bunch of cool nostalgia and references. It also has a main character that will annoyingly explain the reference to the audience, just to make sure you know that the show made a reference.
The story is simple, an arcade otaku meets the most perfectest and popularest girl in his school at an arcade and loses to her in street fighter 2. This sparks an almost one sided rivalry between the two which blossoms into something more, as the show goes on. I found the story a little better than the generic romance anime.
...
This show is pretty ugly though. The backgrounds are flat and boring. The characters are all cg with not much animation. The cg was probably used to make the characters feel different from the video games. However, there are also tons of animation shortcuts, whether it's using game footage to pad the run-time or long pauses that would make 'One Piece' jealous. So something tells me that cg was not used as an artistic choice but as a cheap one.
The sound design is good in the show. The op and ed are a little bland but the in background music and the arcade sounds are done adequately. No real complaints there.
The characters are the worst part of the show for me, specifically the two mains. The main boy Yaguchi, is the type of MC that never stops talking. He is constantly inner monologuing and explaining what is happening on the screen. You could probably get a good understanding of the main plot if you watched this show blindfolded. The Main girl Oono (which im just now realizing is a street fighter reference) on the other hand, never speaks. The best you get, is grunting and sighing. On top of not speaking, she also has almost no facial expressions or personality. This means she is whatever the MC and the viewer wants to imprint on her. She has two defining traits. She is good at literally everything and she is afraid of scary things. THAT'S IT. There is also the third MC who is the 3rd wheel on this love triangle. She is clearly the one the viewer should root for, as she has character motivation and development.
Overall, my enjoyment of the show was weird. It was an easy watch and it had its good episodes mixed in the series. Actually, my favorite episode was when the MC and Secondary love interest get left behind on a school field trip and spend the whole day just hanging out. However, with annoying, very cheap cg characters on top of an average story and hit or miss comedy, I don't think I'd recommend this unless you just want to see some old 90s games get referenced.

Obviously, not many people heard about this show until the crunchy roll awards. I saw that it was nominated for a lot and called one of the few good CG shows. I must say, it did not disappoint.
The story is about a gem being named Phos feeling useless and being told they were useless to the world and them attempting to find their place. It’s easily relatable. Through the season, we get to see the relatively young gem mature both mentally and physically. By the end of the show they are so unrecognizable, that the show points this out. On top of this main
...
character arc, we get to watch most of the supporting cast shine and have their moments as both mentors and warrior....or just as a bunch of awkward golems.
The art is clearly the selling point of this show. This must have been some kind of passion project for the studio. Kinda of like Devilman Crybaby, the animation really makes a statement. It is shows like this that both help and hurt CG anime. It creates a desire to see more like it, but the problem is that most will not be done with as much care as this.
The sound is very soft and whimsical. Even when the antagonistic Lunarians attack the gems island, the music becomes a beautiful orchestra. While there aren't many tracks to the ost, the show uses them effectively. The OP and ED are also pretty good and I rarely skipped either.
The characters are just under the art for me with this show. Nearly all the characters that the show focuses on are interesting and have a unique personality. The banter and general dialogue between characters is also pretty entertaining.
Every episode is paced very well and I was constantly getting a sense of Miyazaki off this show. The camera directing for episode 10 in particular was absolutely incredibly. The fight animation flowed well and the slower parts had great tension and camera pans. The music during those parts only added to the scenes. The faces of the characters told the whole story when things were silent. All of the dialogue was brief and to the point. It’s probably one of the best single episodes of an anime I’ve seen in a couple years. On top of all this, it was one of the easiest Marathons I've had watching a show. I give most of the credit to the surprisingly adept dub that this show has.
Overall, I would obviously give this a glowing recommendation. Go out of your way to watch this show. Hopefully, like me you'll be chomping at the bit for the next season.

I have a hard time deciding if I'd recommend this show just for good character design and some good sports play that's few and far between. Because the story definitely isn't what I'd recommend
I've heard some people say that this show is way too dramatic for a sports anime about Badminton. I'd say that it is more like the show takes its story too serious. Sometimes to the detriment of it's characters. Kuroko no Basket is a sports show that takes itself seriously, but still has a aura of camp to it that makes it enjoyable. This show has no camp to it's edgyness
...
and it just leaves you hating any character that isn't the MC Aragaki. Aragaki is great in this show as she seems completely uninterested or unfazed by the other characters BS. This amazon just wants to play Badminton.
The characters are my biggest problem with the show. Motivations and characteristics seem to change for everyone on an ep. to ep. basis. Even after 12 ep., I still wasn't sure what the characters would be like in the 13th. The secondary MC, is one of the worst at this as the entire way through the show she hates her mom for abandoning her, for losing a match. However, anytime we see the mom throughout the show she seems like a super loving mom and a generally nice person. What the Secondary MC thought was abandoning, was actually a business trip that the mom didn't communicate properly..... seriously.
The art and sound are the saving grace of the show. When the director stops focusing on character BS and focuses the camera on the sport, it's super well animated; using some CG and hand drawn techniques. There are numerous times we get long shots of play. One huge prop I'll give this show, is that the final showdown gets all the screen time it needs and it is very enjoyable. The Sound effects are also stellar.
Overall, If you ever wanted to watch a show that's insecure about the sport it's about this might be for you. It's almost like they thought the audience would get bored of crazy well animated sports play for some reason.

I don't really like idol anime....but I really liked this one. It's good at taking some of the idol troupes and flipping them on their heads. That's not to say it doesn't fall into these troupes as the show goes on, but somehow it all just worked out.
The Zombie angle was enough to keep the early episodes interesting and make up for the surprisingly bad CG dance numbers. But as the show goes on you learn more about each of the characters before they became undead. The characters and their past become the more interesting feature of the show and is usually interrupted by
...
idol nonsense. By the end, the show has told a wonderful story about failure and overcoming it.
I wouldn't say that I Highly recommend the show if you're not into idol stuff, but I will say it was definitely one of the sleeper hits of 2018 and I'm glad I went back and finished it.
-oh it also has one of the best OPs of the year.

The first episode of this is terrible, which is why it's surprising how good the show turned out to be.
The story is simple, but effective. A goblin slayer and his merry band of adventurers go kill goblins. The show is heavy handed with its D&D comparisons and you can see this as every quest they go on always has some twist and turns to keep things interesting.
The art is pretty good in most places. Scenery is very well drawn, character designs have great detail even when it gets to the c-tier characters. The only weird choice is to have the goblin slayer be
...
the only CG character in the show. However, it doesn't hurt the show one bit.
The core party members are all very well fleshed out from the cheese loving, shaman lizard-man, to the tsundere, immature elf ranger. Beyond that, the show also features its background characters very well and gives them fun/interesting world building dialogue.
Overall, I would say please push past the first episode and by the time you get to the final conflict of the season you might be as impressed as I was.

I really liked the show during the early episodes. The character design, the supernatural goings on and the (relative to most anime) crude humor all pulled me in hard. However, somewhere after episode 8 the show started going away from the humor and began to take itself a little too serious. It also seemed like the creators tried to rush through several stories in order to wrap things up by the 13th episode.
The story is still good and one of the better ones in anime of 2018. I know it's not traditional but if the show had maybe 15 episodes it wouldn't have felt
...
so rushed at the end.
I would definitely recommend the show as it's probably one of the better shows of 2018. I would recommend trying to just binge the show, as I found that took a good chunk of the episode to get back into the shows pace after taking the week long break. If it weren't for my lack of interest in the last few episodes it would probably be an 8 instead of a 6. But that's just how things turned out.

I watched the netflix version of this, which just sort of mushes the three stories together to make a feature length film. The story is as the MAL description says. It has three parts that do not really have much to do with each other. Each story is sweet and features about 80% voice over to tell it. Your enjoyment of the three may vary. I personally feel that the middle story is the weakest and kind of played out. However, the characters are solid. The first is my favorite for the visuals and the voice acting (which we'll get into later) but lacks any
...
kind of story. The third is the only one with a real story line. However, the characters are bland and the voice acting is terrible. No one part has everything.
The art is absolutely spectacular. While the character design is lacking, the background and and settings are very deep and dazzling. There was a shot of a puddle in the opening minutes that made me mark out hard. The art is pretty consistent throughout the three stories, but the first is where the most animation time went into.
The sound and music are not very noticeable. Aside from a few good tape recording and cooking effects there is not much to talk about. The dubbing is a bit rough. It is a little noticeable in the second story with not awkwardly read, but awkwardly translated lines. Then, in the third story we get to listen to captain no charisma do the main character.
The characters are where this movie takes a hit. Outside of the second story there are not any noteworthy characters. Some kids, some grandparents etc.
Overall, it is a very easy and fast watch. The movie likes to try to trigger nostalgia and in some cases may do so effectively. I would recommend watching it with the dub if only to be able to focus on the beautiful artwork as it is one of the few saving graces of the work.

I thought Blend S was an enjoyable enough show. It was very easy to binge. The story is pretty weak considering that there is not much of a episode to episode story. A girl with a natural scowl is having a hard time finding a job. She ends up being scouted for a character trope themed cafe. And shenanigans ensue.
The art is nothing to write home about. It's fine, very colorful, blah. There are several shots in the show where the animated character looks like its floating on the background. I guess that means that at least one of the animators did not have
...
a good depth of field.
The op/ep is good. The background music could have been used better to emphasize a joke. However, most of the time it ended up undercutting the joke instead.
The characters are what this show gets right. Most of the characters are deeper than a one dimensional trope. This is because when they are at the cafe they have to act like a different trope. There are also little things. Like the MC being from a wealthy family, but wants to make her own money to travel.
Overall, idk, I mean a five kinda says what I think. There were highlights and lowlights to this show. I love the show any time the crew were messing around in the cafe. But anytime the story tried to focus on the loose romance plot between the MC's, I sort of mentally checked out.
