Story 10/10
The movie had me in the first ten minutes I started watching. It may have just been me being able to relate to Anna right off the bat as someone who doesn't make friends easily and uses art as an outlet for stress- but I mean even aside from that I sort of pitied her and wanted to see where the story would take her. Studio Ghibli pulled its usual magic and put out another amazing movie. This one is sadder than usual but the ending was still perfect and bittersweet. I've easily watched it three times.
Art 10/10
*Insert my usual spiel about how much
...
I love Studio Ghibli here*
Sound 8/10
The soundtrack for this movie is very calming but again, bittersweet. The ending song in particular suited this movie so well and finished the movie off beautifully. I watched the sub and I really liked the voice actors but I also watched the english dub trailer and I liked those voice actors too. Ghibli is really good at casting >u<
Character 9/10
Anna was a very relateable character and even though there wasnt a lot of spotlight on the supporting characters, I thought they played an important role too. I think the focus being on Anna and Marnie was the most important so I think its fine that the side characters weren't focused on too much to draw attention away from Anna's character development.
Enjoyment/Overall 9/10
It's definitely in my top 5 must-watch movies but some people don't like the more slice-of-life-ish style that Ghibli took rather than its usual fantasy approach. The movie deals with a bit of supernatural/spiritual themes that I found interesting and the movie was unpredictable and interesting to watch. I definitely recommend this movie to anybody!

Story 10/10
The whole basis of the film was that Miyazaki wanted a film about a young girl that wasn't some lame love story- and that was the number one thing that I loved about the film. The whole thing is a masterpiece in the sense that it was like nothing I'd ever saw before. Chihiro is such a powerful character and the story reflects that. Watching it as a kid too it felt like I was watching something serious despite the fantasy qualities and the obvious child directed audience. Not to mention the way the story flows its a perfect balance of recognizing a calm
...
before an arc and looking forward to what was coming next. Believe me, the reason people tell you to watch this one is because its the movie that even the most adamant anime-haters end up falling in love with.
Art 10/10
The whole movie is not only a great story, but a visual experience. The vibrant colours, the traditional Ghibli look mixed with this cool/cute/spooky spirit world was my dream as a child and even now I'm impressed by the technical skills required to pull that off. Like a spider character with a whole bunch of arms, each arm doing its own specific task, plus a face that requires its own expressions and movement, its just so impressive.
Sound 10/10
The sound was actually part of why this movie is so emotional. The trailer for this movie alone has the power to move me to tears because once you hear that soundtrack its like a flood of memories coming back. You know how you wish you could watch something over again and get that feeling of awe again? That never goes away with this movie
Character 10/10
Studio Ghibli presents us with a protagonist who is a very young, strong female character that shows a turn on what it means to be "strong". She never physically hurts anybody in the movie but she is spiritually and emotionally very strong in the sense that she faces her problems head on. And then the supporting characters are just that- supportive. There isn't so much a battle between good and evil so much as it is a journey to find good where it wasn't always expected. That isn't to say there isn't problems, but that no problem can't be fixed. The character design and personality was well thought out.
Enjoyment/Overall 10/10
For the above reasons its very memorable and I rewatch the movie any chance I get. If you haven't seen this movie yet- what are you still reading this for!? Go watch it !!!

Story 6/10
I found that the movie is very stop and start mixed with some "whats going on?" and "what are they talking about?". I didn't understand how these two kids who barely interacted were suddenly like "lets get married when I come back from Italy making violins!". That sentence alone was confusing enough for me. I think the message was supposed to be something along the lines of "Follow your dreams!" but it feels different from other Studio Ghibli movies that have a lot more love put into them. It just feels generic. But a Ghibli movie is a Ghibli movie so I can't say
...
that it didn't keep my attention. The scene where they all sing together was a nice touch and was pretty much the best part of the movie.
Art 10/10
Studio Ghibli never fails in the art aspect. Their clean and comfortable style drew me in and I really can't say there was any point I thought the art was bad. No, it was exactly up to Ghibli standards so I can't be disappointed on that front.
Sound 7/10
Again, Ghibli can't fail on the technical aspects
Character 6/10
The characters were confusing. The one girl wanted to be an author but for some unexplained reason she's really isolated and on numerous occasions diminishes her own worth. By the end she still feels that way except now? she has a fiancee? And the guy character was totally underdeveloped. He didn't have nearly enough screen time for this to be a love story (or whatever it was?) and I would've liked to see more of him and her interacting. Don't get me wrong, I loved their visual designs, but as fleshed out characters they seemed lacking in a lot of ways.
Enjoyment 6/10
It kept my attention but I wouldn't watch it again. I wouldn't say it was a waste of time because its always on the "most underrated ghibli films of all time" list. So now I don't have to sit and wonder why it was so underrated. I know now.
Overall 6/10
The technical portion of the film was well done but the story felt a little too bare bones compared to what I'm used to seeing from Ghibli

Story 9/10
When I read the description the first time I thought "this movie is about a deaf girl being bullied and we're expected to pity the guy bullying her? what??" and I saw the great reviews and I figured maybe I was missing something and boy am I glad I watched this. Its true at first you think "I'll never learn to pity this kid, he is awful!" but the anime does a unique take on regret that seems very genuine and sad. A lot of the anime is him pushing people away and denying forgiveness after he apologizes to the deaf girl (thats not
...
a spoiler right?) while also mending their friendship, admitting that it was his fault for not trying to understand her and that he wants to make life easier for her, like he should have been doing in the first place. It's a very touching story that covers sensitive subjects like suicidal thoughts, bullying, self-worth among other topics. I liked that the ending wasn't one of those "everything is miraculously better" or "apologies fix everything". They acknowledge that an apology goes hand in hand with a change in behaviour, and that sometimes not everybody changes for the better.
Art 10/10
Stuuuuuunnnnniiiiinnnngggg. Really the best animation I've seen in a while. Their use of colour and visual cues contributed to the story in a great way and I would watch any movie that looks as good as this one.
Sound 9/10
Creative use of silence and the contrast of too-much-sound-anxiety-overload kind of sound quality.
Character 10/10
It was easy to tell the characters apart and there was really no question about the development of each character. The main character was extremely well handled and there was never a question about how he felt (again, visuals helped a lot). And as I mentioned before the characters had a very clear redemption or they didn't which I liked. There was no grey area so it was clear that the protagonist was like "this person is never going to changed and at this point I don't want them to but I can keep being me and they can stay out of my life" which is powerful in itself
Enjoyment 10/10
It's weird to say that I enjoyed it because it was very sad and very powerful but I really did like it. It had so many layers in plot, character, climax, everything. The ending was satisfying which I find a lot of movies that start out great screw up, but again the idea that if someone isn't willing to change you can't force them because it wont be genuine change was a great idea to bring into a movie about bullying.
Overall 10/10
Some things were a bit repetitive but by the end of it I learned to forgive it because it did add to the story and the story itself was really good. I haven't seen another anime like this one so if you are looking for a change in pace then this would be a good place to start !

Story 8/10
I saw a gif from the movie and decided to watch it. It is a very slow burner kind of movie that mostly drew me in from the comfortable vibe. I should mention the first half of the movie actually isn't about the war, and is more about Suzu meeting her husband. The second half of the movie is very emotional and I thought it told Suzu's story very beautifully. I appreciated that the ending was focused on recovery and moving forward. I would have given it a ten but I didn't really understand the part with the monster putting the kids in the
...
basket or the girl in her grandma's attic and I don't really think they added much to the story.
Art 8/10
At first I thought the art style was too simple but the way they changed the art to represent Suzu's feelings did a really good job of grabbing my attention. The use of colour throughout did not go unnoticed, in particular during a scene where Suzu and her husband are sitting together and the weather gradually changes around them as the emotion of the setting changes. Overall, very unique and very good.
Sound 10/10
I don't know how to describe what good sounds are but I mean the soundtrack was really good and the quality of the sound effects and voice acting were also really good.
Character 10/10
At first everyone seemed kind of the same but once they all got older they had more dimension and Suzu's husband quickly became my favourite. Suzu was also developed really well and there were a lot of powerful scenes that showed the audience her personality. The characters all essentially wore their hearts on their sleeve.
Enjoyment 8/10
I thought I wasn't going to like the movie seeing as I knew going into it that it was going to be sad but I actually really liked it. I definitely cried a bunch but not all of it was sad crying because Suzu and her husband made me very happy all the time. The ending was satisfying which is pretty rare in the stuff I watch.
Overall 8/10
I'm glad that this wasn't another Grave of the Fireflies or some carbon-copy war movie but it definitely had its ups and downs. The movie is very very sad and is most definitely a slice of life, slow burner so if you don't like being sad and don't like slice of life then maybe sway away but if you are a big crybaby such as myself, then give it a try ! Seriously its very sad but the ending is very satisfying so I recommend it.

Story/Art/Sound/Character/Enjoyment/Overall: 10/10
I watched this one with a friend of mine and it was breathtaking. It's right up there in my top 5 movies because you could tell there was a lot of love put into it. The whole concept of switching bodies and the element of comedy and mystery tying in together made for something that engaged your heart along with your eyes. Visually, the best art I've seen in an anime, hands down. Emotionally, there were scenes where I stood out out of my chair because of how compelling the story was. At one point I was literally on the ground crying and my
...
friend sat on the floor with me to be sad with me. I just really can't believe that this anime had the ability to literally stir me enough that I had to move around while I watched it because it gave me so much energy- but this anime did.
There is a shift in the anime where it goes from lighthearted comedy and slice of life to mystery and psychological and it works out to be very engaging. The slice of life and comedy section built up and developed the characters to the point where you were very attached to them and the mystery and psychological aspect was so necessary and made for a story arc that you didn't want to see...you NEEDED to see. There were scenes that had me heart broken and scenes that had me excited and I think that future anime can learn from this one simply because its one of those stories for me that I didn't need to think about- I opened the review, I hit ten out of ten on all aspects, because I knew this is an anime that was absolutely brilliant and there's nothing that I would ever dare to change.
tl;dr if a doctor told you you only had an hour and fifty two minutes left before you died, watch Kimi no Na wa

I'll set the scene by saying I was at my friends house and we were screwing around on kissanime trying to find something really dumb to watch as a joke. We came across this and after the first episode we were like wait...this is actually REALLY good and we stayed up the rest of the night to finish it.
Story 8/10
I'm a huge sucker for anime that involves time shenanigans and this one handled the genre sooooo well. It also really knew how to play with your emotions ie with scenes where he sees his mom again, old childhood friends, et cetera) and just gives the
...
nostalgia vibe. Mystery mixed in with slice of life and time travel is just a really good recipe for a good anime. If anything, I thought the ending arc was a little bit too over the top in the sense that even time travel was a bit more likely than what actually did happen. I don't think it ruined the series by any means at all but it wrapped everything up so there was no more questions which is a lot more than some series can say.
Art 8/10
Don't be fooled, the first few minutes you'll be thinking "this looks like any old anime you can find anywhere" but once the opening theme hits you'll realize that the animators really knew what they were doing. The use of colour and setting was really well thought out and made the viewer feel exactly how the producers wanted you to feel during any given scene
Sound 9/10
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to talk about the OP theme hear but the OP theme is goes so hard I downloaded it after episode 2 and its one of the only anime I've watched where I didn't skip the opening because I wanted to listen to the song. Same band that did the (second?) opening of Naruto. Also the voice actors were well chosen and suited their respective characters. The sound efects were really good and added to the vibe of the anime as a whole. Personally, I wouldn't change anything.
Character 10/10
Honestly the only character design I didn't like was the protagonist's mom because she had really big lips but in terms of her actual character I thought she was very strong and smart. All the characters were really well designed overall and they were each unique and had their own flaws and weaknesses that the series explored which, again, was just so so so so good
Enjoyment 10/10
Part of me wants to rewatch it again but another part of me doesnt knowing I won't have that feeling of amazement that I had when I first watched it thinking it was going to be garbage and then quickly realizing it was actually really really good
Overall 9/10
For the above mentioned reasons, I think this anime was great!! I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for something in the mystery/psychological genre with a very personal feeling to it. Hope this helped!

Story 6/10
FULL DISCLOSURE I did not watch episodes 11-18 for reasons I will elaborate on but please do not think I'm saying anything about those specific episodes - good or bad - because I don't know about their quality and I can only explain why I didn't watch them.
The story was weird in my opinion, like they couldn't quite decide on what they wanted to do. Personally I thought it started out really cute with the idea of him becoming a hero in his own way, even if he does'nt have super powers... and then a few episodes later aliens show up. It took me
...
a little while to adjust to the aliens because I was all geared up for some Slice of Life/Action hybrid that would've been unique. However, after the aliens show up and I got all used to aliens, then like twelve new characters are introduced and they go into space (or at the very least into a spaceship, again I paused watching here). This was my limit on ridiculous plot-switching. At that point I was kind of thinking "just pick something and stick with it wouldja?!""
HOWEVER, episode 19 - 22 were so captivating and I highly suggest that if you are like me and can't take the space wars stuff, just skip to 18 and you miss no information that is pertinent to the remaining episodes. Trust me. The element of real crime pulled me back to the first few episodes where a regular guy is playing super hero, which is what drew me in in the first place.
Art 6/10
Pretty standard in my opinion. Better than a lot of cheap looking anime and better than a lot of the new stuff out. If anything it just looks natural, not too stylistic, not too cheap which I'm just fine with. The animation was pretty fluid and detailed which I also appreciated but I wouldn't say that its something the anime should be known for.
Sound 5/10
The opening was okay and aside from that the sound was normal. Not a stunning soundtrack or memorable voice actors in my opinion but sound is pretty hard for me to grade because I'm not always readily looking for it.
Character 7/10
Definitely well designed but also definitely had some flaws. The police officer had a lot of flaws actually. In a way he wasted his own redemption arc that the protagonist literally risked his life for and the ending kind of brushed it off like "yep he completely ignored that important life lesson". It's hard to grade the protagonist because of the gap of episodes I didn't watch. I thought he was cute though, very eccentric and funny. The other characters I remember being kind of one dimensional in the sense that yeah they were fine but there wasn't a lot to them.
Enjoyment 7/10
I'm thinking of rewatching it again just to see if my enjoyment of it changes it at. Sometimes with series like this you'll find its better the second time through when you can get a fresh look at it. At the moment, my opinion is that it was fine. I didn't want to gouge my eyes out and I wouldn't put it in a frame.
Overall 6/10
What can I say that hasn't already been said. Its a swing or a miss but I definitely think its worth trying out, even if its just one or two episodes

Story 10/10
It's been a long time since I've seen an anime that I've been really connected to. I only started watching the series because I saw a gif on tumblr that looked cute and began watching the series (only to find that the gif was from the very last 3 minutes of the entire series lol). The story was very emotional and knew how to keep it's audience up close and personal with the characters. I felt like the ending kind of tied everything together.
Art 10/10
I mean aside from some weird looking mid-frames the characters in their posture alone had an energy about them. Tenga
...
for example always had a presence like he was never static in a scene and when he did move he was expressive. The design of the characters themselves were fitting and unique, like nothing I'd ever seen in an anime before. I really loved the fluid movements and the use of colour in any given scene . Very well thought out from an artisitic standpoint.
Sound 10/10
Again, connected the audience on a deep level. Even during quiet scenes there was that element of anxiety that the series intended for you to get from the lack of sound, and excited, action filled scenes were always heart racing and the music kept up with it. The voice actors were very suitable and I especially like Katsuhira and Tenga's voice actors!
Character 8/10
The villain could have had a better redemption arc. If anything that was the only flaw with the ending where they wrap it up like "We're all fine now" but the audience (or at the very least me) still couldn't really forgive the villain for what she did. And the purple theme character (his name escapes me right now) could have had a less uncomfortable signature trait. ASIDE FROM THAT the other characters were very enjoyable and I could relate to each of them personally and the struggles they were going through.
Enjoyment 10/10
It was never a dull moment with this anime and it was the same level of enjoyment the second time I watched it all the way through with my friend (who also loved the series). At the end of every episode I was always staying up to watch the next one because I just had to know what happened next!
Overall 10/10
Get a blanket, get some comfort drinks and settle in because if you are anything like me, you'll be hooked on the series from episode 1 and you wont be able to stop yourself from finishing it in one night! Hope you enjoy it!

Story: 2/10
Honestly some of the worst writing I've seen for any Lupin series. The characters were good before this series so I don't understand where all these unnecessary changes came from. These changes to characters ultimately affected what little story the series had and made it unenjoyable for me.
Specifically I'm referring to every single episode (every single one) hinging on the idea that everybody and their cousin want to fuck Fujiko and all it does is make her character seem stupid and all the other once lovable characters extremely sleazy
Art: 2/10
The character design was honestly gross to look at. Fujiko's body (which we see QUITE
...
A LOT) is extremely grotesque looking because they tried to give her enormous breasts and a blocky thigh gap which ultimately made her look like she was 2 inches away from dying at all times. Lupin just looked super disfigured, I was really longing for his classic, lovable round face and instead got this weird looking skinny-head buck tooth ugly looking nightmare man. Jigen's crotch started in the middle of his chest and they severely overshaded him I don't really know what that was about. Not to mention the whole thing just looked so edgy for seemingly no reason. Get rid of all those scratchy pencil lines all over everyone for God's sake.
Sound: 1/10
I don't really have an opinion on the sound. It wasn't outstanding or memorable.
Character: 1/10
Pathetic. Makes it seem like they asked the producers to just guess what the characters were like and they failed miserably. Jigen was portrayed as being "weak to women" whereas Goemon was portrayed as some kind of bold lady killer?? And then Lupin was generally disgusting as a character I couldn't stand how they essentially reduced him to just be some molester with no redeeming qualities. Same for Zenigata, I couldn't believe they tried to pull him off as a sexpert like. really. zenigata?? ZENIGATA??? THE GUY THEY REFER TO AS "OLD MAN" IN THE MAIN SERIES!?!?!?!?!?!?!? If you are going to try and make something "edgy" is still have to honour the original in some way and I seen absolutely none of Lupin's soft-heartedness, or Jigen's humourous side or Zenigata's expressiveness or even Fujiko's youthfulness. Believe it or not in the older series she acts like a funny spoiled rich girl all the time and not like a two way entrance for her friend's dicks such as this series makes her look. Very disappointing.
Enjoyment:
If it isn't clear already THE SERIES WAS NOT ENJOYABLE unless you happen to like good characters reduced to one dimensional stereotypes with some tits and degrading comments about women thrown in then by all means waste your own time on it
Overall:
Awful. Wouldn't recommend this to anybody. Edgy Lupin III falls completely flat compared to its previous seasons/movies and I hope the franchise starts to realize that they could be doing so much better than this garbage.
